Also known as Diuretics, they cause the body to shed water through increased urination. It's commonly used in medical situations where a patient is retaining dangerously high levels of water. Some people use them to speed weight loss. You remember how on the first few days of eating Keto you suddenly lost 5-10 LBS in a few…

I use the Knorr brand, as well. I quite like it. Must look into making bone broth. I've tried in the past to make stock/broth from scratch and it didn't go well. For me it was a lot of effort that returned a watery result. I may try again someday soon, but I find the store bought stuff super convenient, which works better…

Google Dr. Jason Fung on YouTube. He has a six part series that goes into a lot of detail and sites numerous studies. I don't know if it will have everything you need but he seems to have a good handle on diabetes

Thank you

Yes, that's me. Since going Keto I'm all or nothing in the bathroom. Glad I'm not the only one. I can go two or three days with nothing and then have a very active day. But it's not really working for me and I need to find a way to get more regularity.

I may be imagining things but i think my gums feel better. I was having some gum sensitivity over the past year or so, but since starting LCHF I believe it is less pronounced.

About three years ago I bought a new suit when I had lost some weight. It was a little small when I bought it and bc I started gaining weight again it never fit. Well, I just tried it on and it now fits! Which is a good thing because most of my other suits are now too big.

Coconut oil, magnesium...check, I'm on it.

Thanks

Thank you everyone for the advice. The problem is constipation. It's difficult to know what I the best way to go. Some say no to fiber others yes. I think I'm looking at fiber bc it is clearly missing from my diet. @Dragonwolf I have been thinking of trying to increase fat. I have been making some efforts in this regard…

Thank you. I may go the broth route. It might be nice to have a cup or two during my work day.

Good luck. I can relate to the yo-yo weight gain-loss experience. Been doing it since I was 13 YO.

I'm not sure how to consume salt if I'm not eating. Do you think it's ok for just 24 hours? I probably should have done more research before starting out. In typical "me" fashion I've just barreled ahead and figured there wasn't much more to it than simply not eating. Appreciate any advice. I don't see myself going longer…

Thanks for the encouragement @DittoDan ! I'm 19 hours in right now and feeling good. I don't really feel hungry, but I do feel "empty" if that makes any sense. My mind is fine and I'm trying to remember to drink water. I'm hoping that perhaps this might become part of my normal routine. Perhaps once per week I will simply…

Popcorn is a fav. My wife and I go to the movies all the time. We often go more than once per week and usually have popcorn. Since changing to this woe I find it makes me feel sick although to be honest I pretty much always felt sick eating half a bag of popcorn and washing it down with diet pop. What I do now is bring…

I agree with eggs and steak. Eat 'em together and you can take the rest of the week off. I also like shrimp. I eat eight 31-40 weight shrimp almost every day when I get home. Easy, fast and helps me get to dinner with little to no hunger

I like using the bar code scanner to identify foods. I find that it's usually accurate. Of course, this is only helpful with packaged foods. In general, I find using the database so frustrating that I've pretty much stopped using it. After three months on strict LCHF I've come to know what I can and can't eat. I no longer…

Wowzers! Move over Beyonce, there's a new Queen in town!

And I thought my 14oz striploin was big!

Welcome. I suggest going on YouTube and watching the six part video series by Dr Jason Fung. They are a bit dry but I learned a lot from watching them. It was someone else on this forum who suggested it and I'm grateful to them.

Nuts and blackberries are my go to evening snacks. Easy, no prep and keto friendly. I also like a large glass of soda water flavoured with a sweetener like MIO but I try to avoid artificial stuff and look for stevia. With regard to bread if you give yourself time you may find you get over the cravings - at least I did. I…

Definitely agree with others comments. I try to weigh myself just once per week. Even doing that sometimes I don't see movement. Someone on this forum once wrote that the scale reading is actually a reflection of what you ate two weeks ago, not yesterday or today. I think those are wise words. You've got to give yourself…

I sometimes eat a tbsp of peanut butter for the sweet hit. I have to be careful as this is not a good sign for me.

I've just recently started doing some intermittent fasting and it's going pretty well. I think it will take some practice and getting used to. I feel very "different" when I don't eat for long periods. Not bad, just different. I've been doing the 16/8 method. Basically, I eat dinner and then fast for at lease 16 hours…

I simply stopped eating lunch altogether. I eat a very large breakfast (I do like eggs so that helps) and then have some almonds around 3pm. Today I didn't eat anything until about 5pm.

Welcome. I just use the ketostix.

Pepperoni sticks. Easy, fast. Also, a tbsp of peanut butter is satisfying.

Fun thread! I'm a gamer and when I created the name I did most of my gaming during the day (hence Daylite) and I mainly play first party shooter games. "mag" is a reference to magazine, as in a magazine that holds ammo and inserts into a gun. Presto: DayliteMag was born. I don't have a lot of time for gaming any more, but…

Good luck! I know how hard it is to quit smoking. I applaud you just for trying.

I try to just eat when hungry. I've found that by eating a large breakfast I no longer am hungry at lunch so I just skip it. I will eat about 140 Cals of nuts around 2 or 3pm just to stave off hunger. When I get home I immediately eat some shrimp and that keeps me from being too hungry at dinner.
