  • I fall off the wagon on a weekly basis. I call it impulse testing. It generally happens on a rest day and I see something that I've been craving. Weekends are the worst for me. During the week I'm pretty good about following the menu. Life is busy and it's easier to just cook what's listed. On the weekends I have…
  • Kron104 - I haven't experience many physical reactions but when I do they are within an hour of eating. Generally my reactions are heartburn but when I was testing white bread I had severe cramping and diarrhea. When I test reactive I take a day or two to rest and hopefully lose the weight that I gained.
  • Kayceeme - glad you're back on track. I haven't tried corn either. I just decided to go for it since I wasn't testing anything that day. Since then I've had low salt tortilla chips with no problems. Today I tried a breakfast taco (egg substitute, corn tortilla, and 4 blend shredded cheese) and had heartburn within an hour.…
  • I thought Wholly Guacamole would be safe to have without testing so added it to my shopping basket. I had some on rice crackers for an afternoon snack and was up more than a pound the next day. After looking at the ingredients again (Hass Avocados, Jalapeno Puree (white vinegar, jalapeno peppers, salt), Dehydrated Onion,…
  • Wouldn't that be great to have a restaurant that you could go to, tell them what day you were on and have them provide a delicious meal for you! That would definitely be my go to place
  • Kayceeme, I hadn't thought about the exercise and lack of water being a negative reaction, but that could be it. I should know tomorrow. I had some more of the guacamole for my morning snack, before I got to thinking I might be reactive to the vinegar. Today has been a clean rest day with everything testing friendly…
  • Up 1.6 pounds! I thought I was being good and didn't eat any reactive foods. I spent the day working in my garden so I didn't drink all the water I was supposed to and I forgot to take any of my medication but otherwise I was good. The only processed food I ate was some Wholly Guacamole that I bought. I've been eating…
  • I've missed the Atheno's Roasted Red Pepper Hummus but haven't been using it until I could test the Tahini. Well, I was able to test it 2 days ago and gained 1.5 pounds. I did a rest day yesterday and only lost .5 pound. Hopefully today's rest day will have a bigger loss so I can move on to testing asparagus. My Mom is so…
  • Another good breakfast substitute is the Pumpkin Pie Chia Pudding. The recipe is in her cookbook that you can download from her website. I don't like the flax granola so don't eat it by itself anymore. I'll add 1/4 cup with the rice cereal & fruit to try and disguise it. I have that about twice a week. If I could find the…
  • I saw that also. I find it difficult enough not having a beverage with my meal, but to not drink anything for 1.5 hours doesn't sound like a good way to stay hydrated. I figured that from the time I get up (6 a.m.) until the time to stop drinking water (7:30 p.m.) leaves me 13 1/2 hours to drink the 87 ounces I'm supposed…
  • Tested strawberries today with my Rice Chex, Chia Seeds, Coconut Milk and Blueberries breakfast. Strawberries & blueberries on my cereal was a real treat. Hope I'm not reactive to the strawberries. I have a 3 x 8 raised bed of them in my garden.
  • I agree that measuring the hips, waist, thigh, etc and seeing them go down is a great ego booster. I do my measurements every Saturday right after I weigh. After that 1st inch I haven't seen much difference, but I keep hoping and know that I'm doing everything that I can. I was going to put my information on a spreadsheet…
  • Looking back at my weight gains and loss the sodium has paid a part. I had a loss with some of the non-reactive prepared foods but it was only .2 pounds compared to the home prepared. I'll have to pay more attention the to the sodium.
  • Good article. I know when I don't get good sleep it generally signals a negative reaction.
  • I've been on The Plan for 24 days and have only lost 4 pounds because I keep testing reactive to foods. So far it's been pork, potatoes, and wheat. On day 14 I restarted at day 6 using the Thyroid plan. I did retest the trio I had been reactive to and the results were the same ....8 to 1.5 pounds weight gain each test.…
  • It's amazing how after 2 or 3 weeks of no salt you can detect the smallest amount in cooking. Restaurants definitely over salt most of their food in the name of "flavor". Blame many of the cooking shows. Every dish they make they flavor with salt. Didn't they ever hear of low sodium alternatives? I love to cook but I cut…
  • Lyn suggests eggs whites or egg substitute (about the same thing, just branded different) as a test. Egg yolks or whole eggs is another separate test and boiled eggs a different test. They all have a different reactivity. Good luck in testing.
  • The brown rice pasta was surprisingly good. It had a nice texture with a little bit of a nutty flavor. Not knowing which food to blame for the weight gain was always the problem before. On break days I don't even try to figure it out. I know what I ate was untested or reactive and accept the consequences. That's what the…
  • I reached day 14 but decided against testing the whole egg. I had a grilled vegetable souffle that I had bought at Costco before I started The Plan. Tasted as yummy as I remembered but the sodium count was atrocious. 650 mg! I definitely need to up my water intake for the day to counteract that. :drinker:
  • I love McDonald's cheeseburgers! Unfortunately they're off the menu since I tested reactive to wheat. That is until McDonald's gets a gluten-free bun, which I don't see any of the burger chains doing. My favorite breakfast is 2 fried eggs on top of hash browns with a side of bacon. After testing reactive to pork and…
  • I think I'm getting the hang of this plan. I took a break yesterday and ate basically what I wanted. Down .5 pounds this morning. I had a cheesy egg omelette with some sunflower seeds, Channa Masala (chickpeas in tomato sauce) on bed of lettuce, and brown rice spaghetti with a jarred sauce and dinner salad. So glad I…
  • It's good that our bodies tell us immediately that a food is bad for us, but that was going a little overboard. Anyway, I took a break from The Plan on Saturday and took a rest day on Sunday. The rest day included salt free potato chips which I was reluctant to try since I had tested reactive to potatoes. Talking to people…
  • After 3 weeks on the plan, and testing reactive to bread, potato, and pork, I took a break this weekend also. It looks like pizza was our downfall. I did make mine using a gluten free pizza crust, alfredo sauce (untested) , chicken and lots of friendly vegetables. The pound gained was worth the feeling of freedom for the…
  • No Trader Joe's in my town. I'm waiting for the new Winco to open next week. It's supposed to have a huge bulk food section and stock many of the things that the current one does not. Hopefully Chia Seeds will be something that they add to their shelves. I tried the Pumpkin Pie Pudding for breakfast today. It was super…
  • Thanks Kayceeme. It looks like you're doing great on The Plan. Those last 2 pounds should be gone by the time you finish your 20. I don't know what to think about the bread reaction. It was so immediate. Bread is definitely off my menu for a long time. This morning I woke up feeling great but the scale showed a .5 pound…
  • I tested lamb as my new protein a few days ago and lost .6 pounds. Yesterday I retested Chickpeas and ended up losing .8 pounds. Was so stoked to be under 175. I have been up and down from 180 to 175 for months. Today I retested white bread following the thyroid plan instructions (1 slice of white bread at breakfast with…
  • I restarted from day 6 a few days ago. The next breakfast day test I'm going to have a lovely over-easy egg instead of the egg substitute that I know I can use. I wish I could add some fried potatoes and a sausage patty for a "old" breakfast but haven't re-tested the pork & potatoes yet. I gained 2 pounds when I tested…
  • I found a reasonably priced goat cheese at Costco which has 160 mg of sodium per ounce. It comes in a double pack of 10.5 ounce logs for under $9.00. I haven't found any other goat cheese except the plain in my town but I'll keep looking.
  • I like the idea of using the "notes" to keep track of what day you're on. I track calories, fiber, carbs, and fat but only pay attention to the last 3. Yes, it does freak me out to see that I'm over by 300 to 400 calories but as long as I continue to lose I'm not worrying. I've lost more in the past 3 weeks than I have in…
  • Bry8iyze - Your "tomateless" sauce sounds great. Could you post the recipe in our recipe section? Kayceeme - Have you tried adding some garlic or Italian Seasoning? I add both, whip it up in the blender, and the olive oil taste is masked.
