What are your macros set to? I had to edit mine instead of letting MFP set them.

Since she is no longer diabetic, I'm sure she thinks it was worth it.

It's hard for women to get bulky. You really need some strength training while losing weight because you want to keep all the muscle you can. If you don't you lose muscle along with fat and can end up thin with a high BF!

There is an article in the new Reader's Digest on Diet myths. Guess what - research supports that losing weight faster has longer lasting results than taking it slow. 1200 calories is required to get adequate nutrition. So I think your doctor is right.

www.atkins.com has all the info on low carb Atkins style, including the new Atkins 40 that is much easier to follow. It's free!

No it doesn't mean the rest are good fats. Vegetable oil, corn oil, and similar ones are not considered good fats. If the it has olive oil, then it would be a good fat.

I'm a low carb person so I have 4-6 ounces of protein with every meal and veggies. Lately I have been snacking on cottage cheese with a few berries, crudites with a cheese stick.
-
I have a dill pickle. Kills the sweet craving with only 5 calories.

Ounce for ounce starchy carbs have more calories per ounce than meat so why cut it out. Without adequate protein while losing weight, you will lose muscle along with fat. I'd cut out the starchy carbs and have meat and vegetables.

Weight loss doesn't occur every week. You are doing fine so keep it up. You will need to lower calories as you lose since 2000 is maintenance for most women.

There are thin people who actually have a lot of BF and fat people who are actually lean. The difference is in the lifting. You have to lift to gain muscle.

Then you wouldn't be doing South Beach. It's fine to make up your own plan. I'd not have the treats in Phase 1. The idea is to get rid of cravings.

Good morning, ladies! I've been looking for a group like this. I'm 73 years young and I've been a widow for 7 years. I live in Virginia with my deaf cat, Casper. I'm and avid quilter and also knit. 2 years ago I lost 28 pounds and felt amazingly good eating 100 grams of protein and no more than 50 grams of net carbs…

Thanks for the link!

You don't get all your nutrition from you meal if you don't include fat. Some vitamins are fat soluable so you need the olive oil. Fat also keeps you feeling full longer.
-
The only accurate way to measure body fat is under water and it is very expensive. There is no way you are at 18% BF.
-
You probably are off enough to keep you from losing. If it isn't liquid it should be weighed.
-
Rough estimates don't work. Get a scale and measure all your food. If you aren't losing, your are eating too much.
-
Every person alive is on a diet. A diet is a way of eating, be it good foods and nutritious or bad stuff.
-
Even at 1200 calories I have a full plate at every meal. 1/4 should be protein, 1/4 starchy carbs and 1/2 non-starchy vegetables/fruit. 1200 calories is the lowest you can go and still get adequate nutrition. I cut the carbs and added protein and lose just fine and I'm 73.

Meat, Chicken, and Fish have no carbs as well. I do Atkins and have worked up to 50 carbs a day. Eating more fat will also give you more calories with fewer carbs (nuts, avocado, good oils, butter).
-
You've used Alli successfully in the past but it taught you nothing about eating right or you'd not be using it again.
-
I have a FitBit but quit using it in favor of a Garmin Vivofit which is much more accurate. FitBit estimates calories but Vivofit actually measures them. FitBit is a glorified pedometer.

if it is going to be so hard then why do it? Paleo is totally unnecessary for any weight loss or health related goal.... you can eat the "restricted foods" lose weight and have great overall health.. Oh as an FYI - Palee is NOTHING like how real paleolithic people ate....[/quote] I've already had 2 surgeries related to…

I'd love to be part of a group like this. Please add me if one get's going. I fell off the wagon and need to get back on. I have 22 pounds to lose.

Everything you said has been disproved by medical science. Fat and protein promote satiety and keep you feeling full longer than carbs. You'd have to eat more than 300 grams of protein a day to have it inflame your digestive tract. Obviously you could benefit from reading up on nutrition and the science of weight loss.

Atkins is now my way of life. When it is done correctly, there is no food that is off limit. You climb up the carb ladder adding them back slowly and seeing how you react to them. I occasionally have cereal for breakfast (I'm on Pre-Maintenance, Phase 3) or a potato with dinner. The key is to do it correctly and find your…

Unfortunately, science has proven that is false. If you eat your calories in junk food, you will gain weight. Eat the same calories in nutritious meat, dairy, fruits and vegg and you will lose. Do research before making absurd statements.
-
You can add me as a friend if you want. I do Atkins. Obviously covens04 knows nothing about low carb or he'd not make such a statement.

Another unscientific response. It would help if you knew that protein is converted so the brain is feed. The body has NO requirement for any carbs but would die without sufficient protein and fat. You need to do some research before saying carbs are necessary for anything. In fat, low carb diets are now recommended for…
