Had an awesome 3 miles run on the treadmill tonight; I set a new personal best for distance! That with a short stroll the other night puts me at 23.9 miles in October.

I don't have a problem with Affirmative Action. I work for a public institution in the South that is more progressive than most, yet I can tell you that our workforce could definitely use more diversity of race, age, creed, you name it. Our hiring practices include additional checks and balances to ensure that we have…

Got in nearly 5 miles (4.92) running and stationary bike today. Yeah!

Thanks! We didn't get quite the mileage that I had hoped for, but it was still a good hike. It was just as well as I had other stuff to do at the house. With any luck we'll be hitting the trails again very soon.

I got in another 3.87 miles of hiking today. I'm on pace to just reach that 70 mile goal, I think.
-
Hoping to repeat my hike from last Saturday (nearly five miles.) I have stuff to do in the yard, housework and reading to catch up on too!
-
I got in a short two-miler tonight to bring me to 11.39 miles on the month.
-
Wednesday was a rest day for me. Today, I added another 4.05 miles for a total of 9.36 on the new month. I'm going to try to talk my wife into another long hike this weekend!
-
Added another 2 3/4 miles today. I'm able to run just a little bit further every week now!
-
What a great achievement. Way to go, Darlin'!
-
What a huge undertaking. Thanks for doing this! I started my month off right with a brisk 2.55 mile walk. On my way to 70 miles or more of @ss moving in October!
-
Ran my slow pace for 2.52 miles today but I am able to run for nearly half an hour now, so I'll take it! That's over 68 miles logged in September. I'm in for 70 in October.

September was my first MY@ Challenge. Clearly, challenging myself worked as I was able to blow past my original goal of 40 miles, reaching 68.53m as of this evening! I did count all forms of exercise from walking to hiking, running, and riding the stationary bike. Given this torrid pace (for me) in this first month I'll be…

Got in a 4.7 mile hike yesterday to bring my monthly tally to 66.01 miles. Not including today, that marks 22 workouts in 30 days this month. Thanks to everyone here for the motivation. I'm going to keep moving my @ss in October!
-
Thanks for sounding off, speedyf! I'm thrilled to be on a fairly active schedule. I didn't know that I could feel this good. :)

Fellow Move Your @ssers, I took a day off today but Wednesday's and Thursday's workouts put me over the 60 mile mark. This is my first month participating in the Challenge, and this total reflects miles run, walked, cycled, cross trained, etc. I think that I will track running miles only next month since my primary fitness…

How's everyone doing? I added a little over six miles today to bring my monthly total to 55.62mi. I'm already thinking about my October goal and I should set the bar. I hope that I can keep up this pace!
-
Got another 6.5 miles yesterday and today. That puts at 45 miles for September, five over my goal!
-
Wow, good for you and congratulations!
-
Got another ~3.6 miles in between a treadmill walk/jog and the stationary bike. Even though I'll surpass my initial goal this week, I hope to keep up the pace. I've logged 13 workouts in 18 days!
-
I'd start off with low-impact exercises. Swimming and walking are great for you and there's little less chance of injury as you build your body back up after so much time off. You can always work your way up to the higher level cardio stuff, but I think you stand more chance being successful if you don't try to do too much…

If you're experiencing chronically low energy I would advise you to see your doctor. I know a number of people who have been prescribed a B-complex or D vitamin for a limited amount of time, but you want to be sure that your symptom isn't a sign of a more serious problem. My doctor prescribes a vitamin that is supposedly…

Congratulations on your progress!

I've posted a few workouts this weekend: 9/14 2.53m walk 9/15 2.53 walk 9/16 3.62 walk/jog/stationary bike Closing in on my first @ss Challenge goal. It's time to set those sights higher!

This is exactly where I was about 18 months ago. I couldn't seem to shed that last 10 until I joined this site and logged in faithfully every day! It's perfectly legit to decide you can stop trying to lose, just don't stop doing what got you this far. I sympathize on your exercise regime. My own injuries have kept me from…

I can't speak to the health code implications like cramernh does, but as far as watching the calories, I zeroed in on this statement: If watching the calories is your main concern I fall back on the old adage that "moderation is key." I've been logging every day for over eight months now, completing my full diary most of…

Totals so far in September 9/2 2.53 miles 9/3 2.53 9/4 7.99 9/6 2.25 9/7 2.59 9/8 1.58 9/9 2.34 9/11 3.29 9/12 1.06 I'm slowing down somewhat from last week's torrid pace but that's cool - - I'm in this for the long haul!

This thread quickly degenerated into people justifying their own alcohol use instead of answering the OPs question. It's not up to me or anyone on here to call out people as alcoholics. The original question, for those who care to address it, involves a fairly massive dose of alcohol consumed by a person who is caring for…

+3.25m on stationary bike and treadmill

She posted that the muffins were 600+ calories. That's easily a third of a woman's daily calories. I think the advice to say "thank you" is definitely warranted. Also, the piece about taking something with you with the promise to eat it later is pretty savvy. I appreciate the desire to play nice with people's feelings,…
