  • Great work!!! It's just going to get better for you!!! Congratulations! :flowerforyou:
  • In the past, when I'd try to make up for something the next day, I ended up doing worse... I'd end up feeling overwhelmed, and it led to such discouragement. I think your day is okay. You probably don't want to eat like that every day, but don't give it too much power. Just make tomorrow a little more balanced,…
  • Go with a medium purple or blue....... something that you're comfortable in, and that honors their request! If you are an extrovert--- a red or orange would be a brave choice!!!
  • Agreed, a little time with a kettlebell kicks it up a notch!!
  • I know that staying away from the scale works for some people. For me, it has to be a part of what I monitor, or I go into denial about what is happening. I need that additional feedback. When I ignored it before, I gained a bunch of weight. So I step on it a couple times a week, only record officially on Tuesday. I don't…
  • No. Some people eat chocolate every day. You have portion control, you can do it.
  • I know it is hard, but hopefully tracking your food on here will lead you to make better choices over time. Just don't give up, or let the "eater's remorse" drag you down. So much of this journey is about getting your head in the right place, and nurturing yourself in non-food ways. Good luck!
  • Am I missing something here? Not to be negative, but we have a liver to detoxify us and kidneys to filter our blood...... Each to their own, I guess.
  • Yes. I can't stuff it down with comfort food anymore. It takes awhile to relearn how to cope in a more positive way, I think. Except you are not "comfort feeding" just having strong emotional reactions to happy events. I just have less patience overall, but that's partly hormonal for me. My husband is a saint.
  • What do you want for yourself? Can you really justify that behavior? How much more do you deserve, dear? IMHO, it's a red flag. I know the heart leads us to some challenging situations, sometimes. Best of luck.
  • I've done some of the other diets out there, too. But this has a special appeal that the others don't. I'm challenged by my pals to exercise when I don't feel like it.....just seeing what they did inspires me. I get food ideas that sound yummy, and usually are! Because it's free, I can do this without using family…
  • I don't believe it is, and who wants to live on so little food. :noway: Check information about your BMR, and fuel your metabolism, dear. :flowerforyou:
  • Overall, I AM satisfied on the amount of foods I get. I must eat some protein throughout the day, including a little with my snacks. I also eat often! I still get "days when I want to eat my own arm off." But, they are few and far between. If I eat very sugary foods, or too many "artificially sweetened" food, I get…
  • I am so sorry. Try to do what you can to maintain some family contact and peace, and don't expect anything from a family member that they are unable to give. I have an older sis that I feel has "alienated herself" from me and my other sister as well. I haven't had a falling out as you have, but it is just annoying to be…
  • You have acknowledged your challenges..... and still have that great determination!!!! Take care of one meal at a time, one day at a time. You have the strength to do this!!!! Ready, set.....GO!!!
  • Shake it off. The "all-or-none" mentality is what has defeated some of us in the past. Divide up those calories mentally over a week's time, and see how unimportant they are in the long haul. Be encouraged by the strength you have shown to this point....... I remember the first time I ever went into the red. It should be…
  • Wondering if you can work on choosing a few of what you want, and not pigging out on it? Don't completely deprive yourself, and you won't be so likely to go on an all-out binge, IMO.
  • I STILL had (and have!) to make the commitment, MFP is the vehicle..... So, if you're ready, get set ---GO!!!! This has been a tremendous accountability tool!!
  • Actually doesn't look too bad to me. Stress can make you hold on to your scale weight. I wonder if you ate even less beef, more fish, and cut out cheese for awhile, the numbers might move. Some people have success if they mix higher calorie days with lower calorie days- ( the jigsaw approach). I haven't tried that, myself.
  • Still resisting the purchase of an HRM myself. It appears that many really love to be that precise. May get one later, to help with maintenance......interesting question!!!!
  • The exercise physiologists quoted by Dr. Oz say that the regular cardio work gets rid of deep abdominal fat, which is more of a health risk connected to diabetes and heart disease. Of course, you will increase lean mass and improve overall metabolism a bit, if you mix in some strength training.... so, yes, both!!
  • I know that you have to want this for yourself, but let's do a reality check. You're pre-diabetic. You have children. I suffered as I watched my own mother suffer from an amputation, the healing, the kidney shutdown, the congestive heart failure. You don't want that, if you can avoid it. This is not about vanity, this is…
  • It provides focus and is an immediate reward........I like to see how much I've lost, too! Always GREAT to see it roll to the next number.....sometimes I get tired of the 'old number'---but shouldn't, as maintaining IS a great accomplishment for me!
  • Welcome! This community and tools will help you to be successful!:flowerforyou:
  • 19.5 weeks24 plus gone. But the time is really not the issue.....You'll gain so much energy if you eat better and exercise regularly---just persist and take it as it comes!
  • I make my own, and you can add a tblsp of peanut butter subbed in for the tahini, if you don't have it. Sounds odd, but gives it that bit of nutty flavor..."..
  • I have to accept this fact of life. Because of my body's true needs, I can eat anything I want. But I can't eat "as much as I want" whenever I want it. It has to be in balance, because the more nutritious choices are higher quality fuel that provide me with more energy:wink: . So I tell myself!!! We can only take it one…
  • It may be psychologically satisfying, but my understanding is that it really has limited health benefits, medically speaking. I have looked at some online........ IMHO they're out to make a quick buck.
  • Sometimes I have a real weakness for popcorn. Really can be hard to control, so if you KNOW you can't control portions on any given day, don't eat it at all, just drink something like hot tea or water. If you are feeling 'in control'--- portion it out and don't let yourself eat any more than your portion. You have to…
  • I agree with the jchrizzie perspective. Make sure you're not doing too much, too soon, on the exercise. Best of luck to you.
