  • There is no "One behavior suits all!"---I like to eat a little breakfast We are fortunate to have access to regular food throughout the day, and it is our daily and weekly fuel choices that make the most difference in our energy level and weight.
  • I walk on the treadmill or outdoors 3-4 times a week. Typically it is in the 35-45 minute range. I ride an outdoor bike for cardio work when the weather is nice, instead of walking. Twice a week with weight-training- 60-65 minute sessions each. I use the machines at the "Y". If I am ambitious, I do a bit of cardio at the…
  • I "guesstimate" and try to tune in to enjoying the occasion, not giving myself over to totally pigging out. We make eating in restaurants an occasional thing around here, so it is not a big deal. If you're into restaurant eating regularly, the sodium counts can really be discouraging on the scale.
  • Congratulations and welcome to this community!
  • Sunparakeet, I don't know if you are going to gain a pound or more of fat eating candy for a few days....... You might bloat and have a larger scale reading. When you return to your normal pattern, it should drop.
  • It would be good to give up on my impulsive comments, so I can show a more generous heart to other people. It would result in a kinder and gentler environment. Give up whining about my day, as a young friend had his last day today, the cancer won. :(
  • For me, it is the learned behavior of "feeding" of something emotional. I am quite sure my Mother did it, and I learned it as a young girl. Usually happens when things get frustrating or sad or overwhelming. I know, logically, that eating won't solve the issue. I still do it, but not as often. Maintaining now, so have to…

  • I feel a real push to work on maintenance every day. So nice to have increasing numbers of clothes that are "too large" in my closet, so I need to bag some up..... I think I've lost my habit of "making excuses" that have previously stood in my way of losing weight and maintaining it.
  • Protein is not magic, but in combination with the other important nutrients, you can eat a satisfying amount and drop weight if you are consistent.
  • Don't do anything to lose weight that you won't do to maintain your healthier weight. Period. :)

  • Your healing process is priority #1. Try to concentrate on a variety of protein rich soft foods, together with your applesauce, etc. Walking regularly, or picking up the pace while you are up and about should help. After you heal, do bursts of exercise, here and there, as you can, and don't stress. A little bit, done…
  • It is lots easier if you don't have kids at home. I pick out one week day that I make myself go to the "YMCA"- I also go on one of the weekend days, both of those are strength training days. Since I have a treadmill in my basement, I do that on other days. Or, I find a good cardio exercise 30 minute youtube. Free. Or, put…
  • Tricky, indeed, and I can't say that I'm comfortable eating ALL my calories just yet. Try to work up to your calories, and stay close to the macros. I stayed at "losing .5 lbs" through the holidays, though I reached maintenance in early December. Would you feel more at peace if you weigh in once a week? Number on the scale…
  • Do what works for you, to maintain your positive changes. I find it very motivating to be at peace with my body.
  • You should be very happy!! Now, let's work that maintenance program!!!
  • You have to find focus for yourself. Ask him for support, show him by example that you're serious. Then let it go. People we live with are sometimes annoying, hey we're not perfect peaches, either!! The advice I gave my young adult daughters when various issues came up with their loved ones? "Are you better off with him,…
  • I think that it is just another "piece of data" that gives us a bit of information. Mine is normal, but I lost weight to feel more energetic and to keep up with the teens I teach!!!
  • Well, you inspired me to finish this year reasonably. Okay, my specific goals: Hop on the scale on my normal weigh in day, to survey the damage. (That would be Wednesday.) Drink 6-8 glasses of water each day, since I have not been drinking my water. Log accurately--!!! :p
  • Goal Weight- Between 140-145. Currently at 142. (My height is just under 5'6" ) My goal is to improve my muscle tone and aerobic fitness.
  • YOU are a winner in my book, too!! Gives me hope for maintaining my loss this time!!
  • Just take each day as it comes. You can really do a number on your head, with "the holidays" looming over you. Realistically, we face extra challenges. Be selective, remain active. AND I will try to take my own advice!! o:)
  • When I was about 5 lbs. above the top of my goal, I switched to .5 lb loss. It has been a good transition, to help "normalize" my behaviors as a maintainer. Right now I am 2-3 lbs. above the low end of my desired weight goal. Do not be afraid.
  • Mixed feelings about people making comments....here. It feels like some sort of social pressure to me. I have struggled with maintenance before, so it is like they have seen me weight-cycle. I know it makes a couple feel more comfortable, when I'm heavier. Plus, I had a "cancer scare" a year and a half ago, so sometimes…
  • You should, as you are a lovely woman! Go get 'em!
  • My daughter in the dressing room of the bridal shop (She's getting married in April.) "Mom, you look small."
  • 2 slices of deli turkey (yes, processed easy to make stuff!) on a sandwich thin, coleslaw with sunflower seeds and balsamic lite dressing, a banana and two Haribo gummy peaches. I ate my fiber bar snack, too, as I wanted it!
  • So, in other words, we are human! I had fallen back into all those bad habits with regains in the past, for far less serious "emotionally traumatic reasons." Love yourself and do it for yourself!!! I am maintaining right now, but you can add me, if you like!!
  • Pistachios- in the shell. You have to work at it, and it feels like you're eating something that is nutritious. Plus, they can be a little pricey, so I portion them out to make them last longer!
  • Can't argue with the nice results of some users. But, I respectfully submit that we've been advertised and marketed to a bit too much with the protein shake business.
  • Wow. A beautiful payoff for your dedication!!
