You asked a question that makes me wonder the same thing, and I am in my 50's. We have raised our family, and are busy (too busy) with jobs. I do occasionally get together with some female friends for lunch, drinks, etc. But as a couple? We don't go out with other couples. When the kids were in high school sports, we…

Great question.....Make sure and count the oil.... when I marinade in soy sauce, balsamic vin. and worcestershire, I add a little brown sugar, I can just quick add calories, but then it's not tracking my sodium...... This is why I usually don't eat ALL of my exercise calories.

Way to go, GIRL..... you are a new WOMAN!!! Keep up the great new habits!!!!
-
You are small and in excellent physical condition! I would call that a huge NSV!!! Maintaining your cardiorespiratory fitness is important, so I guess you'll have to increase resistance or time.....btw, Congratulations!! :drinker:

I try to eat a balanced diet.......have some of the old weight watchers ideas in my head from years ago, when it was a bit different program........ but, I don't count points, only calories. Interested in that 17 day diet that Dr. Phil mentioned yesterday, might try that if I plateau......

You might need some one to one counseling, to sort through these things. Is there a priest, minister, rabbi you could visit with or counselor at the college you could see, to try to tackle these things? It is easy for me to say, just hang on, when I'm not in the middle of this, but really, try to explore the education and…

 Employment as a teacher, so summer is a bit more carefree! That I stumbled across MFP earlier this summer! That I have air-conditioning! That I belong to a "YMCA" and can workout there. That I am able to enjoy my aging process. That my young adult children are productive…

Really--It's a normal bodily response to you burnin' it up in the gym! Evidence that you know what to do when you go there....no need to be embarrassed. I dare say, when I see dark sweat stained people at the gym, I know they are serious about their workouts, and that's to be respected, girl! :smokin:

Think about how short the pleasure is that a binge will provide. Focus on the remorse you'd feel if you gave in BIG time. I would take a portion of what you really are hungry for, sit down, eat it with dignity, savor it..... You will gain a little bit more strength, with each binge that you control. Good luck!

Just started the home brewing hobby this year. Gave a home brew kit to my husband for Christmas last year. Looking forward to the next batch, when it's not too blasted hot to heat up the kitchen. We just used a kit.....next one will be less of an amber ale, more of a straw colored beer. Yeah, I guess we'll have to limit it…

You have a very healthy self-respect for your own body type. Go with what makes you feel most vital and and makes you uniquely beautiful! Other than maybe your doctor, no one can give you an absolute weight range that is best for you. Stay strong!

I read something to this effect once, and it's true....."It's so hard to make needed changes to lose weight. It's so hard to work daily to maintain a healthy weight range. It's so hard to move through the day carrying extra weight. Pick your "hard"." Maybe focus on the positive long term gains in energy and health, and…

Maybe you could plan to gradually increase it. The only way you will know is to try it, and see if you can continue losing at a satisfactory rate. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

First thing........ gauge your self-control-meter. Don't start, if you can't trust yourself to eat a moderate amount with dignity! Then, make a big deal of enjoying the time with your snack. Mentally tell yourself that it was "just enough!" Move out of the environment and get really busy with something that doesn't allow…

Depends......avoid the white sauces on Italian and ginormous portions of pasta and oil. Avoid greasy meat and cheese and the complimentary chips that might go with Mexican. If you have the right mind set, you can get fairly healthy food at each, but the portions are so big, you might want to order ala carte, or take half…

I like to teach science and carry out the plans in the classroom! But the paper work outside/at home can get beastly! Overall, YES!

Yes, plan to bring your own lunch/healthy treats as a routine. Avoid making careful observations of "treats" in the lounge. Just keep walking. (Depending on the time of the year, sometimes there are many caloric things in the teacher's lounge.) Keep hydrated. When the nights get long in doing prep work, make sure you save…

What an impressive journey.----You have gained such wisdom. Stay healthy and you look so GREAT! And I agree, you really were not ever a "fat hog"!!! Just looked like you like to eat well!
-
Maybe see a nutritionist or counselor. That just can't be right, and you need to be healthy for your family, dear girl. Please don't resort to starving yourself. It can rob you of what you want most, your health. Take care.

Maintenance is a challenge. Many here have cycled up and down the scale several times. It sneaks up on us, doesn't it? I think we're the kind of people who will just always have to stay vigilant about what we eat and how active we are. It makes me a bit down to think that way, but I am trying to keep in mind that "the…

You are an inspiration! Keep it going! It is so much a "mind-set"good job exceeding your goal!!! The thing I like about MFP is that I don't feel like I'm dieting, as much as "managing" my intake and exercise. I will be at my first month anniversary soon, and feel much more energetic and healthy.

You are so beautiful, and I hope you can get your head in the right place to take care of yourself. Okay, most of us can identify with your feelings at some point in time. The medication related weight gain was out of your control... so don't beat yourself up about it. I have found that if I love myself as I am right now,…

It is a sad deal for this person, because it does not support efforts they could make to change and live a more hopeful life. We are empowered when we take care of our needs, to the best of our ability, within our own unique circumstances. We become more "disabled" when we allow ourselves to become victimized by our…

I hope you like this site.........warning, it is addictive. I'm a teacher on summer break, and I don't know how I'm going to break my MFP addiction in the fall...... Feel free to friend me, if you like!

Can you find more lean sources of protein to add to your daily intake? Seem to be quite short on that nutrient.
-
Greek yogurt, lowfat cheese sticks, salsa, sweet potatoes, popcorn, low-fat wheat tortillas, oatmeal, fiber one bars.

You need to pay closer attention to that awesome progress in the way your clothes fit. !!! We (especially women) have been hung up on scale numbers for far too long. Over the long term, it really is our "fitness" that matters- it will serve us in an aesthetic sense as well as help us to sustain our health. Keep trying to…

Welcome! Just be honest and try to improve with each day. For me, when I see someone else post a high-energy workout, I am nudged to do more. (I know it's not a contest.) For example, this morning on my treadmill, I thought, okay, I want to post more than 30 minutes, and I remember an MFP friend's post, it inspires me to…

Totally normal. Be determined and stubborn, and the pounds will go. I'd say, don't worry so much about the numbers on the scale, but celebrate the positive behaviors. It seems like something in our heads has to click, ...... I know it is so easy to let your own health slide, when you have young children. But when…

"I don't care what you weigh......what can you do now that you couldn't do before?" Something to think about, that I saw posed as a question from some wise MFP member that stuck in my head a few days ago. It has made the scale less important.
