  • The pain will decrease. I found that after a time, I valued my personal time more. It is great to be able to be on your own schedule, without the constant demands. Growing pains for everyone!
  • Pinuplove has the idea! Baby steps! There has been a payoff for me in being overweight. I have to figure how to enjoy other payoffs.
  • Good luck! I followed the old personal choice plan, a long time ago, then flex points. I think that was a bit more sensible. Actually am thinking about trying those and logging it to kick my weight loss in gear. (Still have the old materials.) Can't get over the no points list I've seen on the pinterest boards. Just defies…
  • You were encouraged to exercise even though you were not medically cleared. Couldn't that be a legal liability for this gym? He sounds like a chauvinistic sort, and you had every right to feel creeped out. I wish you would have given him a piece of your mind....but if you're like me, it takes awhile for letting it "sink…
  • For me? I know I am ABLE to lose it, but that works against me......My internal dialogue goes something like, "Well, I know how to lose it, but I have a very difficult time keeping it off." Since this has been the story of my adult life in the weight loss world, I lose my motivation to make the sacrifice. About every 3…
  • Make sure it is a day that you feel in pretty much in control. I think we should enjoy what we eat, but sometimes eating "junk food" is a trigger for doing some major overeating. By the way, if that is a current picture of you, there isn't much visual evidence of major overeating episodes.

  • Maybe you could do a "quick add" for a calorie estimate. (It is on the drop down menu on the diary page). Keep it reasonable, don't overdo it on cheese or deep fried, and you'll be alright........ This is for life.
  • You look so beautiful and well-proportioned, in my opinion. If you prefer, take a couple months to lose 5-10 pounds, and re-evaluate your goals. You might want to shift your focus on other ways to find your happy place! Peace!

  • You might just want to log your current food patterns, to see how the macronutrients stack up. Might be more sustainable if you make smaller changes over a longer time period. Once heard a "Don't do anything to lose weight that you aren't willing to do to maintain the loss" bit of sound advice some time ago,.
  • I would feel so washed out with that low amount of carbohydrates. I know there is a VLCD diet group that might be more supportive.
  • It is important to change your "inner dialogue"---- "I will enjoy a piece of pizza", instead of "Oh, crap, I ate pizza, so now I'm going to eat another, etc...." If I deny myself too much, I do rebound eating. We can do this!!
  • It is a fight, as the "food calls us", and that can make it worse.....You could turn it down by saying you'll have some later. Is there a detour around the food layout? Our food offerings are in a lounge area, so when I don't want to be tempted, I can avoid it, or just avert my eyes. Is there a delicious alternative that…

  • Re-gain is so easy, and it IS discouraging. Moving forward from regain, myself. I am struggling to make peace with it and trying to focus on health. :|
  • Sorry for your losses and I wish peace to you! Though I don't have binge disorder, I certainly know what comfort feeding is! Don't look back, forgive yourself for the lapses, and remember that small successes add up!!
  • It is a well-used tactic for me, though illogical. Sorry for your suffering.
  • I am with teens in school hacking with respiratory infections for months on end. I get one, because even if it only offers some protection, I'll take it!! The only side effect I have is a bit of a sore arm.
  • Oh. My. Tearing up. Right now, I have a declining tuxedo cat, age 13. Pretty sure we are on the brink of losing him, and I know something of your pain. Have not been managing well with the emotional eating, for this, and other reasons.
  • Sounds reasonable! You are not alone on the regain after logging and losing.......sneaky devil calories start winning again. All the best with your plan. Sort of sick of myself for all the indulgences I've allowed, too, so a good inspiration!
  • I am sorry for your losses. I second ladycclear "Be kind to yourself as you recover" advice. Emotionally you are very vulnerable and it is understandable that you are looking for comfort.

  • :| No shortcuts, but deep down, you know this.
  • I went to losing at a rate of .5 per week the last few weeks to goal. It was a good idea. Then I had time to make smaller upward adjustments, after I hit goal. Started out being "afraid" to eat maintenance level calories. I got over it, though. If you think about weekly averages in maintenance, you can eat like you are…
  • Happy at 142-145 at 5 ft. 5 1/2"--- Feel healthy and vital-- good in clothing. I am 58 years old, so maybe have different goals!!! ;)
  • It's vacation. :) Enjoy it, but don't pig out. Make your calorie splurge choice about things you can't ordinarily have. You will gain some on the scale, but not as much as you fear. This is your life. Make great choices.
  • When I read this, I had concerns about your focus on a goal number. I give myself a 4 pound range, because that takes regular fluctuations into account. I am far from perfect, but the mental stress of staying on a single number can derail my efforts. So, when I am inching upward, I can forgive myself and take care of it.
  • Agree with queenliz99!! Also, it is counter-cultural to delay self-gratification. Human eating habits are heard to break!! We have so much food available, that there are countless decisions to be made about what we eat each day!! You have to really really commit to the process to make it work.
  • Take care of yourself the best you can. The times you especially don't want to go? ARE the times you need to become the boss of your emotions and do it!!! If not, a lighter workout that builds up up in other ways, like an outdoor walk might be the way to go for today......
  • I know that I get in ruts, too......Just make today better than yesterday. Or start smaller, and make breakfast better, than build your successes - string them together. You will feel the payoff mentally, very soon! Stop telling yourself that you can't.
  • I have found that regularly choosing a limited amount of seeds or nuts really makes a difference in being able to combat cravings.....Because, the processed carbs tend to pull the trigger on binges. Still. It is a "pleasure center" thing in the brain....
