I might be bananas for this technique, but it works for me....in my produce section, there is usually a spot for the single bananas, those who may have been broken off of bunches, the discarded ones....the isle of misfit bananas if you will....I pick out 3 or 4, in varying degress of ripeness; that way they are pretty much…

Being adopted, and with 2 adopted brothers, I thought I might be able to answer some questions for you. Although everyone's experience is different, I can try; or at least tell you what I see as MY experiences......

you are so right about the choices of TYPES of foods that you can eat and how your body metabolizes them for energy and storage. The body is amazing, and we should be feuling it with the BEST choices out there, like you said. If you eat 1300 kcals, for example (my base number) of junk foods, you wont be full for long and…

cant wait to try it myself! I am on the dessert list of a Block Party- end of summer bbq- coming up: key lime pie and chocolate chip cookies to keep the kids away from the pies!

Thanks all! :flowerforyou: Its soooo nice to have this fact re-itterated; I was just getting into a slump about "am I eating too much?" again; but with my work-outs, I know my intake NEEDS to be HIGHER, around 17-1800kcal. I dont want to be draggy, cranky, too tired for the next day's "events" AND shift my metabolism into…

You are SO right! :flowerforyou: well said!

oh the horrors of scales....but I am "heavier a the doctor's officess" too; and I know that all the differences between time of day, eating/not eating, shoes and clothing etc are the reason. But I think the worst experience I had was about 15 yrs ago (ph gosh! can I actally say something like that!?!?!) I bought a scale,…
Great post - I really do need to work on the "metal" part - I'm always in my head way too much - bordering on neurotic really... so self critical.... ugh... :flowerforyou:
I didnt think anyone could be more neurotic than me!!! (Actually, you should ask my husband, he'll tell you how crazy I make HIM about…

After reading all these posts, and seeing everyone's weight loss succeses', I feel better in a way knowing I am not the only one who's looking good these days; but still feels fat and cant see myself the way others are. It is funny to have one great day, where I am confident because I just "feel" thin and capable, and the…

Defiantely in fight form! I have come to my own conclusion, and it sounds so silly because so many others say things like this, but, you just have to keep your head up and move on! If it didnt kill you, it made you stonger....etc etc......now, it took me a while to get here, but its what i belive

GOOD MORNING! (its early and I have to pump myself up somehow to get Monday going!) Thanks AJCM! But really, the 8 yr old is my stepdaughter, sooooo .....19 yrs of going up and down on the scale and "fitness-slide" was enough for me, and approaching 40 made me really concentrate on getting fit and healthy. I had an LCIS (…

Hello Everyone! WAY TO GO ALL! It looks like everyone is making progress....:flowerforyou: It has been hectic around my place for the past week, with kids visiting, my oldest son going away (somewhat un-announced! agghh! those crazy 19 yr olds.....just as frustrating as the stubborn 8 yr old!!) So I had to let a ltittle…

[ Haha! I hope Banks is flattered by this thread!!! Banks is a MFP success story, who has researched and read extensively about diet and fitness (probably like most of us on here) however he takes it a step further and writes various posts for us, on various topics! He's pretty great - very knowledgable, intellgient, and…
Banks has written extensively on breaking a plateau by eating more! I was stuck for a long time, and my body had definitely gone into starvation mode. If anyone is stuck, and truly eating low cal, it might be time to up the calories!
AJCM: what author is this? and what books? thanks for the info?

The idea of eating more to loose seems odd, but if you are working out and burning those calories, and making healthy, "low fat, whole foods" choices, it works. I have lost 2 lbs in just 1 1/2 weels of really tracking myself here.....(thanks for the encouragement by the way, Momandwife!!! :flowerforyou: ) I think my cals…
Okay, got me puzzled but sounds like overuse. Cutting back some of those things that increase irritation, including during a workout. Keep me posted.
Well, I have done it again, and this time on both sides to boot! I was limiting myself this week no less...From what I ahve been reading, and feeling,…

HI, I just wanted to add something here; At 5'3" (aprox: last year the dr's office had me a t 5'5", and this year at 5'4"!but really, still 5'3.5 -ish since 12 yrs old!) I was aiming for 130 also; but then realized, once I got the momentum, that my 120-125 "healthy weight" would be a better goal; a challenge to keep me…

I am not really sure of what it was; At the time I was working out, aerobics and yoga, and working at a physically demanding job... my day consisted of 12 hours of on my feet walking, standing, stocking shelves, pushing/pulling fully loaded carts and rolling racks, washing dishes (cafeteria style conveyor-belt thing....)…

Hello and thanks for taking the tme for this! I have always had an interest in PT and took a lot of BIO/PHYSIO courses in college (my major was food/nutrition). Anyhow, I have a question.......I'm doing P90X+, and there is a move called Scorpion PLank Twist....or some such....From plank position, you raise a leg and then…

I am doing P90x+; I've already done a round of p90x, and saw great success. I love his DVDS. My problem is the eating excess as well. When I think about WHAT I eat, I KNOW it is healthy and the right choices. I cook things very heathfuly as well. Myserving sizes are inappropriate, and ahve too many pretzels, or popcorn.…
