  • Why is it that you think you're prone to man arms? How do you normally lift?
  • Resistance bands are great for strength training... you still want to set your repetition and set goals with bands, but you can definitely get an effective burn and build strength using those puppies :)
  • Flat Out bread is great for wraps... and I think they are 90 calories each... I do believe.
  • Detoxing isn't necessary... our bodies are designed to detox themselves through proper nutrition and exercise. I'm one who never recommends doing liquid detoxes.
  • They usually have many veggies to choose from. Stay away from anything that has thick sauces. Go for anything that's STEAMED. :) You'll be fine :)
  • Basically... when you find yourself plateauing... that could mean no more weight is coming off OR that you don't seem to be gaining anymore strength. When you hit a pleteau you need to ramp things up again to challenge your body.
  • Yep, it's ready for order. Both Jess and I coaches too... so if anyone wants it you can contact us and order from us directly, which would rock, too :D
  • When preparing pomegranites... if you are getting the seeds out yourself... 1.) Cut the fruit into sections of halves and soak in a bowl of cold water. 2.) After about 10 minutes (or longer) start separating the seeds from the pulp in the bowl of water. The seeds will float to the bottom and the pulp will float. 3.) When…
  • You're lucky! Man, I have to fight w/every ounce of my being at push-ups. My upper body doesn't like holding onto strength... grrr at my upper body. I'm starting a new program in a couple weeks called ChaLEAN Extreme! It's heavy lifting based... I sooooo can't wait to give this a go! :D
  • I just got mine today! :D From what I can see the schedule has you working out 5 days per week. I don't know how long each workout is, yet, because I haven't gotten to preview the DVDs yet. I hear they are shorter than the P90X workouts, which is also lovely! The nutrition guide is laid out well, and I find it easier to…
  • I'd say... stick to the P90 schedule until you've completed it. Then, once done with that switch over and give Turbo Jam a full out try :)
  • Thank you :D nicky - when you move down to do the knee/floor push-ups, be sure to pad up those knees a bit (yoga mat or exercise mat... or just thick carpet) so that you don't hurt your knees. Be sure to keep that core nice and tight, and tuck that pelvis under a bit to avoid bowing of the back :) Keep at it, you'll build…
  • Amy's is da bomb! ;) Best wishes finding it! I usually get it at Whole Foods... but when I visit my boyfriend up in Wisconsin I go to Woodman's :)
  • I also started with videos... I started with P90 which did an ok job of teaching me how to lift. P90 helped me build strength and I moved onto P90X... now, in P90X Tony does an EXCELLENT job of teaching you about lifting, and that's where I got my base knowledge from. I branched out from there and earned my group fitness…
  • *thud* I just taught Turbo and then went to aerials class and swung upsidedown on silks for an hour. I could barely lift my arms to shower. I'm sooooo done today!
  • First you have to make the decision that you are going to recommit and tell yourself that you are stickin' to your guns! Then... ease into it. Start with easier, definitely accomplishable goals. Build upon those until you get back to where you were before being sick. :flowerforyou:
  • You should post a picture of your new dress ;)
  • I don't know who she's certified with, but I'm studying for my ACE personal training certification and the American Council on Exercise stresses that weight training is an important part of an overall workout regime... the American College of Sports Medicine recommends it also (I was studying that one, but it's super hard,…
  • Rock on! I have no love for running, so I respect those who dedicate themselves to training for races. Best wishes!
  • Most magazines usually have great sections... Even though I don't like the magazine as a whole, SELF magazine has a pull-out section each month of various workout cards for strength. So, that's a good one. But most fitness magazines have great routines in them. Otherwise, you can try going the video route... that's what I…
  • Sweettart - awesome that you started a thread for your P90 journey! It took me a while to get on here... been sick all week so I haven't really popped by much. Keep on moving forward! :) *high fives*
  • What I've really enjoyed lately... Lemon Pepper Fish 2 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil (or olive oil) 1-2 fillets of fish of choice 1/2 cup sliced onion 1/2 cup sliced tomato 1 cup baby spinach leaves 1/4 cup cashew halves lime juice lemon pepper DIRECTIONS: Heat up the oil in a skillet on the stove top. Add in the fish…
  • Everybody's lookin' GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Here's one of me... these are the one's that Beachbody used last year when I won their transformation story for my age category :)
  • PS - feel free to shoot me a message if you have pilates questions... I'm assuming the DVDs will have good explanations on them... but just in case :)
  • YAY!!!!!! :drinker:
  • The majority of a mat pilates class is done on the floor in supine position (face up). It's all about keeping that core tight and keeping the muscles long and lean while performing the exercises. The size of the person shouldn't really affect the exercises. However, it will be tough at first, because it requires core…
  • What classes do they offer at your new gym?
  • I know, I haven't been here in a while... but I'm still totally rockin' it out!!! Let's see... this past week: Last Tuesday: Turbo Kick (1 hour) Wednesday: rest Thursday: Yoga (1 hour) and Bellydancce (1 hour) Friday: Tony Horton's One on One "30/15" routine (1 hour... all push-ups and pull-up variations) Saturday: Turbo…
  • Ditto the above. At 5'8", depending on the day, I'll eat anywhere from 1800-2400 calories...
