If you are losing I would not over-analyze it. I am almost 2x your age, female, 5'5". My starting weight was 319 lbs and I lost a steady 2-3 lbs a week around 1950 calories a day. Over time the daily calorie target decreased and my weight loss leveled off but that's expected a you get closer to goal.

I attend WW meetings for the support and valuable tips/info, follow their GHCs (guidelines for dairy, fruit/veg, healthy oils etc), and continue to use my Activelink. But I count calories instead of points. I gave up trying to convert activity points into calories and just set myself at a higher activity level when…

How did you set your activity level on mfp? Sedentary, mod active, active? The reason I ask is that I have seen some people with sedentary desk jobs set themselves to moderately active then eat back their exercise calories which they have already counted when setting their activity level.

Sounds like a troll post.

This is the best idea ever! I have been portioning out the entire pot or pan after cooking then going back to Recipe Builder and adjusting the servings. It sort of locked me into the serving and made it difficult to vary portions!

That's true which is why I am trying to stack the odds as much as possible in my favor. My personal experience was that the lower the calorie intake the shorter the time I would stick to the food plan. Increasing my odds also means maintaining a positive "can do" attitude. Probably no studies for that either.

Respectfully...what do you think that you will be doing once you reach goal that you are not doing now? My point is that a diet is something that you do temporarily to cut weight. A true lifestyle change means that you develop habits and a way of eating that is sustainable over the long haul. For you is that more…

^ Absolutely this! I did not experience any real weight loss success until I turned my focus away from the scale to the things that were within my control - like exercise on a regular schedule including strength training, , 5 - 7 servings of veg/fruit a day, building more activity in my day outside of workouts, weighing…

5'5". I lost most of my weight eating btw 1650 - 1900 net with a starting weight of 319. I am around 180ish now and MFP just reset me to 1500/ day for lightly active 1lb per week loss. For exercise Jazzercise 4 -5 days a week and at least hour of walking 6 - 7 days a week ususally broken up into 20 - 30 minute segments…

If you are in a situation where you do not have access to the internet most of the day, I would suggest pre-logging your food. Keep a small notepad or peice of paper in your pocket to record anything you eat that wasn't planned and make updates when you can log in again. I pre-log my meals (even if I don't always stick to…

I lost (and continue to lose) most of my weight as a WW meetings member since Feb 2013. I started out only counting points and occasionally logging in to MFP for macro checks and curiosity about the number of calories I was eating. To make a really long story short, I now still go to WW meetings, follow the WW program’s…

I lost over 100 lbs in my 40s and the last 130ish lbs in the past 18 months (now in my 50s) through diet and exercise and I have 35 – 45 lbs left to lose. My upper arms are the worst closely followed by the amount of loose skin on my thighs. My stomach is not too bad so far but it is also the last place I seem to be…

I am glad that this poster has found success with this but OP keep in mind that people are sharing what works best for them. These are not "rules" set in stone. My experience has been a lot different than this poster's but It doesn't make either of us "right". We are both probably eating a balanced diet with exercise…

OP, I can relate even though I have the opposite problem. I am a WW member who loves my leader and my Saturday morning meeting but struggle with the points plus system after doing well with it for the past 16 months. As I get closer to goal my daily target has shrunk to the point where it's unlivable for me but I value the…

This! Have you started measuring your food and logging it in MFP or another app? Before I started tracking my food I thought that I did not eat very much and could not understand why I did not lose weight after starting to exercise. After tracking for a few days without cutting calories I was logging 3000+ calories a day!…

I agree with the previous poster's suggestion about adding strength training to your cardio. You have probably loss some muscle over the last year of weight loss. During the time your weight has stalled how closely have you been measuring your food? Eyeballing, weighing, measuring cups? 1400 calories sounds low for a 220…

Although this is true you can dress in a way to make yourself feel confident. When I was a 3x 28/30w ish, most of my wardrobe came from the home shopping channels. For work My standard was twin sets and dress pants which were almost impossible to find in my size at retail stores. For casual I steered clear of leggings and…

This!! I usually eat dinner sometime bettween 8:30pm - 11:00 pm every night and it has not hindered my weight loss.
-
Congrats! I bet you feel like a different person. I started at 319 and it has taken me about 15 months to lose the same amount of weight...but I am 20 years older than you. Without knowing anything about your calorie intake or exercise rountine it's hard to say whether 9 1/2 months is too fast. As long as you are eating at…

So basically you are going to do more of what is currently not working for you?
-
This is the part of your post that might be the culprit. It is very easy to underestimate your food intake if it is not *all* logged. For one week log every food and beverage that you put in your mouth. Measure (preferably weighing) before eating. Until you have the data that accurately reflects what you are eating, it…

Why? You seem pretty locked in to your current plan. Good luck with it.

This!! What helped change my attitude about weight loss was a success story I read in an old WW cookbook. A woman joined WW with a group of her friends and the woman only lost half a pound the first week while the friends all lost 3, 4+ lbs. Even after she started exercising she never lost more than a lb a week and 99% of…

As a 230 lb 6 ft male, why the 1200 calorie limit?
-
If it helps I am in my 50s also. 5'5", 198 lbs and MFP has me set at 1640 calories for a 1 lb per week loss. I am actually losing between 1.5 -3.5 a week and plan to manually set my daily calorie target higher since I am losing too fast for my own comfort level.
-
Please understand that my question comes from a place of pure curiosity with no malice intended. But if you were eating less than 1520 before how did you become overweight? What is your current height and weight and were you actually measuring and logging your food in the past to know that you were eating under 1520…

Congratulations on finding a plan that really seems to be working for you! If you have the resources available I would reinforce it with some counseling to work on the emotional/ mental side of dealing with food. I don't have any feedback on the loss of inches question not knowing anything about your food intake or your…

It helps me to pre-log my meals so that I know exactly how many calories I have left over for snacks. I can resist the office goodies 95% of the time but if there is something that I really want I log it and move on. Sometimes just taking half a serving is enough.
-
I started at 319 lbs walking (treadmill & outside) and working out with Leslie Sansone dvds 10 or 15 minutes at a time. Keep in mind that exercise does not end with workouts. Just wearing a pedometer motivated me to move more. When you go to the store, park far out and take a few laps around the store before you do your…

OP, It wasn't clear to me from the thread whether you were actually logging/tracking your calories before the latest major cutback. You mentioned that you were eating healthier and less than you were before. But If you were not counting you would not know if you were eating 2500 calories or 1000 calories. Before going to…
