  • I'm looking forward to a glass of red wine tomorrow evening, first one since New Years Eve. I have bought quite a pricey bottle to savour. I can see hubby and me changing our habits in the future. I have lost half a stone in January, so a great jump start to my weight loss, which has stalled over the past year. I have…
  • Two weekends done, got through it so far drinking sparkling water and fruit tea, lost 3lbs and saved a fair bit of money. The weekends are the worst, but I feel very positive about it. The only thing I wish I'd done was take a close up picture of my face (skin) to see if there was any improvement after a month.
  • I'm going for it this year, but the Fridays and Saturdays will be hardest for me too, that's my wind down time! And, as luck would have it, there are 5 weekends this month! Looking forward to the extra weight loss, better sleep, and maybe saving some money. Good luck to anyone giving it a try.
  • Thank you for sharing, very inspirational.
  • I have big calves and they have not changed in size since I lost weight (one 16" and the other 16.5",. I would love to wear high boots but it's not an option. My weight loss has been from the top down, so I live in hope that one day the will shrink a little. The big positive I have seen is that now that they are toned they…
  • I love this, I'm a big fan of calculators and numbers.
  • I lost it from the top down, starting with my face and neck. Now I can tell there is little more to be lost from my top half, but still a fair way to go from the tummy down. Gutted about my boobs though, but it's amazing what a good bra can do.
  • Bump - for motivation when I need it.
  • My clothes got looser, my work colleagues noticed, and my secret was out!
  • Coffee, everything else ends up being disappointing.
  • Every Wednesday is cake day at my work. I love cake. Any cake. I skip breakfast on a Wednesday so I can have cake. IMO if you deprive yourself of something you love you are more likely to fail. I think my weight loss would have been faster if I had skipped cake, but I wouldn't have been so happy. If you really enjoy it,…
  • I have gained about 6 or 7lbs over the past two weeks. I started logging again today (I gave myself a guilt free fortnight off), I expect to lose it in about the same length of time as normal eating resumes, then I will be back on the slow and steady journey to the finish line.
  • Congratulations on what you have achieved so far. I look in the mirror and don't see a difference because my brain is slow at catching up with the scale. Then I look at my clothes and realise that almost everything is new and I am wearing clothes that I wouldn't have considered possible a year ago.
  • I've changed. I feel more sexy. I don't care if anyone sees me reading food labels. I look at myself more in the mirror. I feel the cold. I beg to have my picture taken. I am more confident. I love clothes shopping. I am a very different person to the one I was a little under a year ago.
  • For the first time ever this year, I didn't make a New Years Resolution to diet. I logged on to MFP on the 6th January after reading a newspaper article which recommended it, I joined a gym on the 7th January (special offer!) and suddenly it all happened and felt right. And I'm still not dieting.
  • Homemade pizza, using naan bread as a base, topped with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, olives, a little salami and finished with goats cheese. Served with a glass of red wine. I worked extra hard in the gym to earn this.
  • Top advice! I would love a tattoo, seeing this has really made me laugh, and a little scared!
  • Congratulations to you and your wife, and what a terrific example you are setting for your children.
  • One of my photos is me carrying a 15kg bag of dog food at around the time I had lost that amount. A real eye opener! I would seriously recommend everyone tries this. Now off to find a bag of water softener salt....... Just remembered I've lost more than 40lbs.
  • I didn't realise it would cost so much to constantly be replacing items in my wardrobe! I generally buy key pieces on ebay (and I sell my bigger stuff on there too) and pick up t-shirts in the cheaper stores. My underwear can wait, no one sees that!
  • Oh dear! I've never heard of this, and I have a lovely red dress for my sisters wedding in three weeks time. She is wearing white, a colour I would not DREAM of wearing to a wedding, but I thought I would be OK with red. I wouldn't want to wear black either. She knows and hasn't said anything so I guess it'll be OK. My mum…
  • Such an interesting subject! We ate balanced meals, even on a budget. Much more of our food was home cooked, and although sausages and fish fingers featured, they were always served with vegetables. I don't remember ever cooking with my mum but maybe that's because I never wanted to. She did always say if you can read (a…
  • As soon as something is too big for me it goes to charity, textile recycling or eBay. To keep costs down I am buying from eBay and charity shops as I can't afford to replace everything new! am ruthless about it, even if something has been a 'favourite' if it doesn't fit I don't want to keep it. There is no looking back, I…
  • I would have been a lot closer to my goal if I didn't eat cheese, but I wouldn't be as happy
  • In the past I wanted to know this answer as well and there is no accurate answer. I found that different stores measure differently! M and S I am still a 14, Next I am a 12. Some of my size 16 clothes still look OK as well. I am 5ft5 like you, and 147lbs.
