We all need to hear that from time to time. Thank you.

Oh wow that is horrible! I'm glad you are doing this for yourself. That's the most important thing. And I'm glad he's far away from you now. Good luck!

If it's pretty much your everyday life, you can change your activity level to a higher activity. If it's occasional with a much more sedentary lifestyle in between, then you may want to consider a heart rate monitor.

What a great feeling that must be! Hurray for you!

That is fantastic. Congratulations to you!

fried ants or swordfish. The swordfish was quite good. I couldn't get past knowing I was eating ants to enjoy them.

That is way too low. Listen to Fat2Fitradio podcasts and you will hear, repeatedly, that you should eat at 20% above your BMR to sustain weight loss, NOT lose muscle, and keep your metabolism in check. I'd take a wild guess that for you that might be 2200+ calories a day, exercising 3 days a week, and eating back the…

I know how it is to have a favorite treat-- even if it's bad for you. But if you're eating good 90% of the time, that's important. Even though it is practically zilch on calories, it is bad for you. The carbonation and the aspartame namely. So, if I were you, I'd consider it an occasional treat-- like maybe twice a week.…

5' 5" and my goal is 147 lbs.

If your clothes are fitting better, I consider that a NSV! Good for you and your wife!

This. I have Skinny Cow Fudgsicles for such an occasion. Only 100 calories. Very tasty. No guilt.

HAHAHA!! This one caused tears of laughter to roll down my face. But in all seriousness, try to eat some protein to help curb the cravings. Jerky, peanut butter, egg whites, even a protein shake will be better than the cake. Besides the cake is dry and crumbly and actually quite nasty. You don't want it. Blech.

People can be so oblivious to other's feelings. They should've said, "That's fantastic!" or "Wow, that's great!" or "Good for you!"

I think for your height and weight it probably IS noticeable. Some people don't know how to say it though. They don't want to imply that you needed to lose weight to begin with. On the other hand, people may think you're too thin and not want to encourage an eating disorder. And obviously, I haven't seen your pictures so…

Welcome to MFP! I hope you enjoy the community of support here.

I'd rather not choose a chemical alternative. I can see being wary of sugar due to the diabetes in your family. There's diabetes on my dad's side of the family. And my husband's family also has diabetes. So my poor kids need to be extra-vigilant. I say, enjoy a little sugar now and then. Keep it in moderation. But to me,…

Congrats to you! You look so healthy! I hope to be in ONEderland myself by the end of August.

Good for you! You look amazing!

My thoughts exactly! It's much easier than carrying around a notebook and jotting everything in it. I love that it tallies everything and you can look back and reevaluate. The community is wonderful and that makes a difference in pressing on. Welcome!

I would rather sweat a lot than stink a lot. That's my problem. It's not so much the amount of moisture-- it's that it reeks. ew. and now I just announced it on the world wide web. :embarassed:

This guy said it all. When I joined, I made a committment to myself to log for 100 days. no matter what. That meant that even if I wanted to eat 3000 calories+ I was going to log it. But once I started doing it, I realized, "If I am going to log this meal, I want it to reflect fruits and vegetables." And that's how the…

Try boiled egg whites.

My sister recommended a podcast called fat2fit radio. I'm suprised at how sensible and smart it is. Check it out yourself. It's free. http://www.fat2fitradio.com/

Good for you! You've got it right.

1760. And I'm nursing exclusively, so that adds 500. I eat within 200 calories of that 2260. Although tempting as it is to drop my calories by several hundred to boost weight-loss, I'm not going to do it because I want to lose fat, not my muscle. And losing more than 1% a week usually means it's muscle loss. No thanks.…

I'm with those that aren't being wishy-washy with their answer. Don't do it! It's dangerous! As with any diet restricting calories you'll lose at first. And then you'll plateau. Do you really want to plateau on only 500 calories a day?? It will kill your metabolism. Then when you do decide to eat at a healthier level, it…
