Make sure you cook your pasta (white or otherwise) correctly and it will alleviate many of the 'ew' problems people complain about: Cook it in lots of water, a whole pound of pasta should have almost a gallon of SALTED water to swim in. The water should taste like seawater. As for brands, i'm a pasta snob. I like barilla,…

Nope, false. Carbonation is just carbon dioxide dissolved in water. some sodas (like my favorite cola products) have a phosphate in them that interferes with calcium absorption, your body naturally will lose calcium if it's not replaced. But if you are anti-soda, the carbonated water + veggies/fruit is a good idea.…

here's a great thread from a few days ago.... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/513966-3-favorite-snacks :-)

6 months of no sweets?!?! you are amazing. the most i get is about 3 days between my 1 (or 2) squares of ghiradelli midnight reverie (really dark) chocolate. i think you totally deserved it, but if you are an all or nothing kind of guy, do your required self-flagellation and get back (errr, stay) on track.

if it's in your budget, go see your primary doc and ask for a CBC (complete blood count), it will check lots of basic things, including iron deficiency. When I was pregnant with my first, i was borderline low on iron (even w/ the iron in my prenatal). I took the Slow-FE (target carries a much cheaper generic equiv), and it…

What is it? Can you provide a link? My husband complains that I lost my @$$. I'd love it if it really works.

barilla whole wheat in at least 6 QTs of water and add SALT to the water. it should taste like seawater. salt isnt evil.... it is problematic if you have specific medical conditions, but other than that you're fine. If you dont cook it in enough water, it will get really starchy and yucky.

talk with a nutritionist. get some help to make sure you dont lose important nutrients. And make sure you're doing it for YOUR reasons, not because it's trendy or because someone else wants you to. pescaterian (or how ever it's spelled) is supposed to be one of the healthiest ways to eat out there.

yup, take it easy, drink some extra water (if you're not already drinking a large amount). And go up to your maintenance calories till you feel better. soup, chicken soup. even from a can. GL and feel better :flowerforyou:

yup ditto ditto. my hubby misses "girl me" not t-shirt / jeans me. i tried on some of my old stuff the other day, it's better.... baby #2 turns 1 in a month, so i'm trying to be back to my pre baby weight by then, i'm 7 lbs away. i can do it if i quit having off days like today (all my 2 year old wanted to do was snack, so…

this is what i do if the mood strikes me. esp. on days like today when i went a little crazy with the snacks, i'll log a potential dinner and see where i'm at. so for me, like most things, it depends on the day

I drink diet soda, almond milk (1/2 calories of skim milk, and my brand adds extra calcium), crystal light, and sometimes water. i just drink if i'm thirsty. i never force myself to consume a beverage, esp. plain water. I dont drink coffee, tea or alcohol. i just dont like them. As for the diuretic effect of caffeine, it's…

perhaps i should have made the last line of my post the first: the point of this is not to get you to stop drinking if you're happy. it's to let you know you don't need to, if you don't want to or don't like water (like me).
-
count it for water, but you dont need to drink 8 cups a day... see my rant here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/514520-stop-drinking-8-cups-of-water-because-it-s-good-and-get basically, drink it if you want it and are happy, but dont do it b/c your'e "supposed to" you dont need it. ask your doc.
-
DONT DO IT!!!! YOU DONT NEED IT! There is NO SCIENTIFIC evidence that you need 8 glasses of water. it comes from a study that was misquoted about total liquid needed. the study mentioned MOST people will get MOST of their liquid from their FOOD. Google "8 cups myth" or something similar. Do your own research. If you LIKE…

personally, i dont think it's really all that bad. there's effectively a HUGE study pool to look at. millions of us (if not billions) consume it without any problems. I am one of those. we go through lots in our house. i find water really boring, and dont like coffee or tea, and i'm not really a fan of the fruity flavors…

Since I guess I left it off on my earlier post, and I guess most people don't understand. organic DOES NOT EQUAL CHEMICAL-FREE. They are just naturally-derived chemicals. Your organic soy can come from a field covered in organic cyanide (which would be bad) and then you would be sick. If you go to Home Depot / ACE / etc,…

As someone who worked in commercial agriculture in central CA 99-2001, organic is mostly an advertising gimmick. Not that the companies w/ the USDA organic label are lying, but that it's a huge amount of effort that it's mostly done for advertising like reasons. Also, please, please, please remember that organic / natural…

I bought the target brand (i'm a store brand shopper), and it's totally good. Can't be sure of the Crystal Light brand. That being said. When I tried to buy some more a few days ago. I didn't see it on the shelf. It might have just been out.....

Is your weight really UP, or is it just natural fluctuation? Before I started dieting, I read a number of books and theories about dieting, took the small amounts of wisdom from some, and made my plan (that's basically healthy eating w/ a side of how to stay feeling full longer). One of the things I picked up from the…

Be careful, TOO much of ANYTHING is bad, and too much B12 can turn you (not just your pee) an odd hue of yellow, and have scary side effects that mimic the damage of Hepatitis-C (think LIVER DAMAGE). And the bright pee, that's mostly the vitamins, leaving your body, unused. So be careful before you see this as a "safe"…

salty : 0% greek yougurt w/ dried dill weed, garlic powder (dash), salt to taste, chopped cukes (semi-tadziki sauce) topped w/ 1/2 a serving of crushed baked pita chips (we call it yogurt w/ crunchies) string cheese sweet: fruit, whatever i bought at costco because it looked the freshest. when in season, i've been known to…

I think yes, it opens up a whole new arena of variety for you. If you are getting bored with what you're eating, especially if it's not keeping you full, you're much more likely to overeat. I have heard from a few (precisely 2, I dont know many) former veggies. they say starting to incorporate meat back into your diet can…

spit. ALWAYS. there is always some bit of trash around i can use to put it in. And spit for the other option too :-)

mine are 10 months and 2.5. I stay home and my husband works long hours. We bought a nordictrack "audio strider 990 pro (new for 2012)" yes, that's the whole crazy name (http://www.nordictrack.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_-1_10301_12401_19053_181319). It's about $1000, but it works like the nice precors at the…

Yay for you!

Worked out Sunday after not getting on the horse since Tues. Sick kids and then sick mommy. I decided to put on clean work out clothes, just yoga pants and a non-baggy t-shirt and my hubby said that i looked hot. He couldn't keep his hands off me. Our 2.5 yr old kept saying, "no more squeezing! you have to be apart!" :-D…

If you are looking at eating it "plain" like rice always make it with chicken/beef/veggie stock instead of water. If you are doing it for breakfast, like oatmeal, make it with milk.

Ditto... read a useful article... says to stay flat on your feet, like many have said.... http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/01/26/top-10-mistakes-make-on-elliptical-trainer/

weigh before. The food will lose water weight (moisture) as it cooks. The calorie content never changes, but if you over cook, the mass continues to decrease....
