you don't need expensive internet "organic" psyllium. it's the same as your grandma's metamucil. try the kind in the little capsules is you dont like the grit. as for the "f" enema someone mentioned, it's a "Fleet enema" and i wouldn't do it w/o at least consulting the pharmacist, but preferably your physician. As to the…

Miralax is fine - even for long term use, it is different from standard laxatives - we use it in pediatric bowel impaction cases. it helps add water back to the stool in your colon. It is also used for people on opiods (think additive painkillers) - severe constipation is a very common side effect. You need to STOP eating:…

very awesome. and double kudos for donating blood.

Skip the bananas.... they contain lots pectin (the stuff that makes jelly gel). The compound performs the same function in your gut. If you're not "going" skip things in the diarrhea diet: ABC: Apples, Bananas, Cereal. (it's an old thing, so cereal here refers to mid-century fully-refined grains (think rice, not just…

an "easy" and natural help to the loose stools is the ABC diet Apples Bananas and Cereal (it's an old acronym, and cereal is mean to refer to white carbs). **Science section: Apples and Bananas contain significant amounts of pectin, it's the stuff that makes jelly "gel-ed", it's basically fruit gelatin. so it kinda…

personally, i think people are over paranoid about NaCl. Your body does REQUIRE it for functioning. that said, i do all my own seasonings, and i too LOVE PENZEY's.... I have to order online. Once you order something, they will send you a catalog every few months. And they list everything that's in something and note the…

I'm on the other end of things, kinda... I have a big frame, so at 170 and 5'8" i'm not obviously in need of weight loss (i can't wear a bikini or anything, but...). I think 155 to 160 is about right for me. It's the same for us as everyone else, EXCEPT, you have to go slower, and it will take more work on your part for…

mostly, *bump* but, also... I make my tadziki with mint and cucumber, along with the other ingredients mentioned above.

Costco sells it, so it can be returned no questions asked. If you don't know, it's a "chemical-free" (ie, no stimulants, laxatives, etc) thing designed to fool your nose into helping your brain think you're full. It's one of the "safe" (notice the lack of "and effective") weight-loss things out there. That said, my mom…

I'll take a wild stab in the dark and say that she's upset that C-F-A is a Christian-run PRIVATE organization. They are closed on Sunday, in observance of the Sabbath. Most people get upset that they run a Marriage Retreat of sorts for bolstering marriages and they refuse to admit couples who are not married, or of the…

And thank you for doing so, I live in VA and these things are everywhere. There are three within a mile or two of my house. It's good to know about your options.

look up alton brown (of food network)'s stuff on tofu. he'll show you how to get the water out, marinade it in a mix of asian flavors. and he makes a chocolate pie with the silken stuff... http://www.foodnetwork.com/search/delegate.do?fnSearchString=tofuworld&fnSearchType=site

try the quaker oatmeal in the cinnamon roll flavor. i love it.

i'd try to make the sandwich the night before (i make my hubby's lunch every night). He's often really busy and we've discovered that the roll-up sandwiches are a bit more "portable" than standard bread ones. And then i give him cut-up veggies like on a party tray. and some crackers or a yogurt. if you are determined to…

It has totally turned into a marketing gimmick. It's like the "naturally fat free" on the front of the gummi bears. I watched a kid (about 6) in the cereal aisle pick up some Reeses Puffs and tell her mom "but the check means they are whole grain". The mom said no. but neglected to teach her child that it was marketing. My…

chocolate cheerios! it's 100 calories per serving (interestingly enough, the honey nut cheerios are 110 and apple-cinnamon are 120) Chocolate cheerios are one of my many chocolate cereal loves, that started with cocoa crispies. but... some things are not as bad as you might think.

dont' do it.... outdated old news. drink when you are thirsty, and drink anything you want. http://todayhealth.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/06/05/12053524-let-go-of-the-water-bottle-youre-plenty-hydrated-people?chromedomain=bodyodd pass the good news on to all the water haters... let go of the guilt I rarely drink water.…

I'm a serious soda junkie. it started when i was really little and we lived in a terrible part of KC, MO. And our tap water was gag-worthy. We had less than no money, and discovered that diet soda on sale was cheaper than bottled water (it was the early 80's so bottled water wasn't really popular or competitive). Soooo all…

I have two little kids, and they are really slow to get teeth, so I'm still cutting up food for my 13 month-old. I've discovered a cheese stick can last 5 minutes if I cut it into quarters (the long way), and then mince the length. you do have to eat one piece at a time.... and remember to chew.

click the settings link near the top (by logout) and then diary settings select from pull down menu on a personal note... i dont care about these numbers... unless you are diabetic or have kidney problems, you don' t need to either. plus, many foods in the database have incorrect values (based on me checking the DB vs the…

^^ This. If you are eating "sugar" that comes naturally in food. it's totally good. it's added sugar (like you find in the sweetened un-milks) that *can* be an issue. PLUS... lots of stuff in the database doesn't agree with the nutrition labels I find on my food. So don't sweat the "nutrient goals" just use them for basic…

huh?? amber?? i personally stay away from things that are "natural" lots of bad things are natural. my two favorite examples are cocaine and cyanide.

Talk with your doctor first, since you have a medical condition. But other than that, there's nothing you can do but eat good food, in smaller quantities, and move a little more. Don't over-do it, if you get hurt, you can't do anything. Keep up with the 30DS, follow the plan, tons of ppl on here have shown some awesome…

"bad" foods generally dont contain the "good" natural things that make you stink.... garlic, onions, cumin, etc, all the stuff that's bad for you. i stink too. :-/ always have. If you actually have too much sweat, ask your doc for a Rx of "drysol". I tried it but my skin is too sensitive. So try it out on a day at home…

Oh, as for specific foods. COMPLETELY AVOID: Deli meat, hot dogs, other precooked meat. As well as soft, unpasteurized cheeses. They carry a high risk of Listeria. It is one of the few dangerous illnesses that passes along the placenta and leads to preterm birth, brain damage and other sad things. Green potatoes, linked to…

as a mom who did it right with #1 and wrong with #2, you SHOULD count calories, or practice portion control or something. The average person with an average pregnancy needs and average of 300 extra calories a day. Notice the word "average" there a lot? Basically you shouldn't gain any weight in teh first trimester. 5-10…

:-) mine are 13 months and almost 3. I'm so there with you. My husband travels for work often. I give in some days. Other days (if we can) I try to distract myself by going outside with the kids. Even if it's just to the front yard b/c one of them is napping. If I can get moving (not in an exercise fashion, but just…

My friend's dad is a (now retired) gastroenterologist. his personalized plate was "go lightly" (however it was he spelled it) This is also my favorite topic of the day. along w/ the weightloss BS topic
