  • Was wearing 38-inch waist pants and they felt tight. Now wearing 36-inch waist pants and have to wear a belt with them. What! Will I be seeing 34-inch waist pants again in my future? :p
  • Well done, Sharon. That's inspiring.
  • Welcome. I've found MFP very helpful and wish you success in your journey.
  • 41 days for me lose 14 lbs. I'm 5'8" and weighed 228 lbs. when I started. I aim to keep calories to between 1280-1300 per day until I reach my goal weight. Also, I eliminated soda, fried foods, and empty calorie snacks from my diet. At the moment, I also alternate jogging 35 minutes three days a week with walking 60…
  • Ten weeks ago, I walked 10 minutes. Afterwards, I was huffing and puffing and felt ready to collapse. This afternoon, I walked for one hour for the first time. Breathing was normal when I finished and my legs still felt great. I'm getting fitter. :)
  • Awesome accomplishment. Well done!
  • Yesterday, for the first time, I managed 10K steps. Congrats to everyone. Reading everyone's accomplishments in this thread is super motivating. Thanks to all.
  • Smiles, I can tell you why your heart rate monitor was indicating that you were working too hard. Heart rate monitors use the commonly accepted formula of (220 minus age) to predict theoretical maximum heart rate. Thus yours would be (220 - 33 = 187). You indicated that at one point your max was 189 so you were according…

  • Daily Check-in: Completed my last run before Saturday's 5K, a 2 mile run in 19:15 (9:37 pace). Will rest tomorrow in accordance with my taper schedule. Lost another 2 pounds since last week and so I am now down 17 pounds since beginning MFP March 19. I'm now officially below 190 at 189. :)
  • Hi ya'll :) Karin, glad your schedule has calmed down. Sounds like you had some serious work ahead of you this afternoon. :) Oh Nadine! Sorry you had such a rough start to your day! Hope things improved by the evening! As far as posting photos, here is what you do. First you must upload them to one of the free photo sites…
  • You mean put photos into a post or what?
  • Friday Check-in: Decided to run a new neighborhood yesterday so I didn't verify the miles but ran for 30 minutes so I'm pretty sure it was at least the 3 miles I had scheduled or maybe slightly more. 30 minutes was easier than when I ran that long a few days ago to complete my run/walk program so I think I am ready to go…
  • Welcome mikeholm and Fawkes. No worries mike, there really isn't any etiquette to observe. Just re-post the weight matrix each week with your update on your weekly weigh-in. Fawkes that is an interesting diet. I'll be interested to hear how it works. I expect it is quite healthy since there is lots of bad stuff in…
  • HaHa!!!! Sweet!!!! :) Daily check-in: Since I finished the run/walk program yesterday I migrated to the last two weeks of a basic 8-week 5K training program. Doing the seventh week of it during the remainder of this week and then I'll do the taper week next week leading up to my race. Today I ran 2 miles in 18:53 (9:26…

  • Wow kaitlinj! Big changes! You should be very proud of the hard work! You look great. Thanks for sharing.
  • Daily check-in Back from a short hiatus. Really hectic week at work and I really couldn't find time for much beyond just posting to my MFP logs the last few days. The ankle issue has subsided after I sandwiched a complete rest day between two walk only days. I ran again today for the first time since the problem cropped up…
  • Daily Check-in: My left ankle issue returned. It was pretty stiff by bedtime last night and all day at work if I sat for any length of time it was so sore and stiff I actually limped when walking until it loosened up. So I decided to swap my last two workouts for week 6 and just did the 30 minute walk only day this…
  • Daily Check-in: Skipped ahead to D5W6 in my program today; 18 minutes running/1 minute walking/11 minutes running. I ended up going too far on the out portion of my out and back course so I had to walk an extra 8 minutes to get home. HaHa 505 pesky calories were put to the torch. I'm now in good shape as far as being ready…
  • Awesome Serenifly! You look fabulous! Thanks for sharing :)
  • Welcome to the group Mom2! :)
  • Daily check-in: “You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement.” -- Steve Prefontaine Completed the first day of week 6 of my RW 8-week…
  • I take mine black. I just never saw the point to ruining a perfectly good cup of coffee by putting stuff in it.

  • I think it really helps to have a running buddy for a number of reasons. It provides accountability which helps with motivation because someone else is depending on you to show up for a run. Also the time passes faster and running seems less like work because if you run at the right pace you can still carry on a…

  • Welcome Swisswife. Sounds like you have a great plan for getting started. I think you will find the site and the great people here most helpful in helping you achieve your goals. Good luck!
  • Welcome to the site. I've been here about a month and it has really helped me a lot! Good luck!
  • Oh thank goodness! Karin you're back! Evidently the rumors you had entered the witness protection program were exagerated. LOL LOL Welcome back! :)
  • Wow Smiles! What a productive day for you! Great going! Glad you had such a nice day for getting outside. Pretty nice here too with lots of sunshine. Daily check-in: Well today was quite different than yesterday's experience which didn't surprise me much since in all the years I was a dedicated runner I can't remember too…
