  • Just depends on your frame. I'm 5'10" and I thin I looked good at 135-140 but some people said I was too thin... I'm one of those people who can't get a flat tummy unless I'm at my absolute leanest, ideal weight.
  • French fries. With Ranch. I don't get it.... berries and salad are already good for you.... why not pick something terrible for you, if it's not going to make you fat?
  • Yeah this is what high school kids usually con their older siblings into buying for them... I drank it once, and once only. Agreed, Boone's Farm is a superior cheap wine.
  • Lost about 50, back up 10 over the summer. Why? The short answer: Beer. The slightly longer answer: Beer, and the complete lack of impulse control associated with too much of it. Too many mini vaca's over the summer.
  • Honestly? I would shave about 100-200 cals off and see if that kickstarts you. When I was actively losing I was eating around 1450 plus eating exercise cals back... that's with an active lifestyle of riding horses 5 days a week, plus working on my feet 50+ hours a week and the normal house and yard work anybody has. When I…
  • The one and only food I really hate the taste of is coconut. I'll eat most other things, even if I don't care for the taste/texture, coconut is the one thing I cannot eat. And, I have to say, to the person who mentioned the canned fish... I probably couldn't do that either. Or... pickled pigs feet... Since becoming a…
  • I share having no butt and being bad at squats with you... I think those of us not endowed with a butt are naturally bad at squats... LOL. I find Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and thighs- esp level 2- to work my butt pretty hard... it always gets sore, but never gets bigger or rounder. LOL I did have a friend over the…
  • I get this a lot at work... I wear scrubs and I lose weight in my face and upper body first, where it is most noticeab;e in scrubs. People can be absolutely cruel, I am close to my ideal body weight, but still have a little fat to grab on the stomach.... so slim but not "too skinny" and I work out and have a good amount of…
  • Almost every day, I have a 2 or 3 serving bowl of an unsweetened cereal like cheerios, corn flakes, or rice krispies. You can have a huge amount for not many calories. I add a little sugar and some unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Even if I'm ravenous and have a huge a huge serving, it amounts under 400 calories.
  • Might not be too far off. My lifestyle is active, I d a lot outdoors, and my calories are set at 1880 to lose 0.5 lb per week. If I work out, I sometimes get to eat 2300 caolries and still be in weight loss goal range. I gaurantee if you are doing that much cardio and eating 1500 calories a day yu will lose weight. 1500…
  • I stepped on the scale after vacation and saw that I was pushing 200 lbs. I realized I was well on my way to being my mother, who was dead at 42, and that I didn't want to follow in the unhealthy footsteps of my family. Lots of health problems in my family, many of which are lifestyle related. On a side note, hubby also…
  • I'm 5'10, my calories have been set at 1640 for a while now and I have kept losing weight. I think if you are working out it should be fine.
  • I just switched to black and found it surprisingly easy as long as the coffee isn't atrocious. I'm a big fan of Yuban Pacific Roast. I also work with a girl from brazil who brings in a delicious brand called Pilau... not sure where she buys it but it's yummy.
  • I can relate, once I eat even one bit of junk food I'm done in for the day. For me just ruling things out helps... some people it's carbs, some peple it's fats or sodium... I went vegetarian last December or so and it really helps keep me on track. I just try to forgive myself my "bad" days and just plan a good next day.…
  • Subway is a bit of a splurge for me, I'll get it either if I've worked all day and I'm tired and hungry, or just as a treat... I usually have a footlong veggie delite, with double cheese, toasted, with some ranch too. It's like a combination grilled cheese and a salad. :) Ends up being like 800+ cals but like I said, it's…
  • Sorry you and your BF are having a hard time, hope whatever needs to happen for you happens, whether you stay together or not. Good job avoiding comfort food! I am very very guilty of that too, I can relate.
  • My husband and I went to IHOP the other day and I got something from their fit and lean medu or whatever... yeah, still didn't it right. greasy and processed. I totally understand. Next time I'm getting salad, or if I'm gonna splurge, at least pancakes or something less greasy! Red lobster gets me too....
  • I'm 5'10. Weight maxed out at 189, size 14 almost needing a 16 last march so I decided I needed to do something. My original goal was simply to eat healthier, and I dropped about 10-12 lbs before I started on MFP. My goal then was to get under 160, which I did as of last august. My current weight is 14, I have been wearing…
  • Yes. My spike days are my beer days... and the scale is usually up a pound or two in the morning.
  • Beans make a fantastic meat replacement. I've made vegetarian lasagne with beans, put beans in salad, vegetarian chili with beans. I eat tofu a couple times a week, I'm not completely wild over it but in certain stir fry's and soups it's very good. Are you going vegan, or lacto-ovo? I try to eat eggs, cheese, and greek…
  • Not super low cal or anything but I bet you could tweak the recipe, and it's really, really good: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-vegetarian-red-beans-lasagna/
  • I gained, but not necessarily because I was on them I don't think... I was in this cycle of gaining like 10 lbs a year since starting college.... Why does the doc want to put you on them? Only you and your doctor together can determine if you really need them but having been on them, I will be wary of ever taking them…
  • Just wanted to jump in an support the OP here.... I have had some nasty comments given to me in the form of jokes. Most recently: "Look at how skinny you're getting! You're too skinny! It's making you look old... there, maybe now you'll eat something!" It's so passive aggressive and mean... and it makes me want to say…
  • Light beer is my choice, at around 100 cals per 12 oz bottle. Liquor with diet soda is also a good choice- Rum and diet coke, or one I like is vodka with diet sprite/7up and a splash of cranberry. They also make lower sugar cranberry juice.
  • Currently I'm loving Nature's Valley oat and chocolate granola bars. They really fill you up. I'll have it with, say, a greek yogurt, or a piece of fruit, or a string cheese, or some combination of the above usually adding up to between 300-400 calories. Or I'll have a pretty big bowl of like honey bunches of oats adding…
  • You look wonderful, and your son if ridiculously adorable. (And I don't even really like kids, so if I compliment your kid, they really are especially cute!)
  • Thanks for this! I lov e soups, I'm totally making this over the weekend!!
  • Copied and pasted from a FB message I sent someone: A couple of my own real quick- the first one is for a wild rice and kale soup. Just guidelines- I play with it every time I make it. You need- a package of Uncle Ben's Wild Rice one bunch of kale onion carrots milk cheese butter or oil of some kind Any other veggies you…
