  • Don't know why it wouldn't work. Everything's sort of geared towards weight loss, but it could just as easily work in reverse. Welcome!
  • One of my major problems with PCOS was a complete lack of energy. I was so tired all of the time, I couldn't hardly function. This in turn made me depressed. Metformin worked for me, but it doesn't for everyone. Maybe you need to take a week and just focus on eating healthy and exercising, but not counting the calories.…
  • Just think of all of the fat you're losing and the muscle you're gaining under a little temporary water weight. Water goes after a few days, and there's less of you!!!!!!!!
  • Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • P.S. Good for you for breastfeeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Because I've been breastfeeding for 9 months and I'm down to not making a whole lot of milk (and no longer his sole source of nutrition now that he's on solids), I follow what MFP recommends. However, I'm a big girl and that's still over 1600 calories a day not including any exercise calories. (I'm more just his daily…
  • My first guess is probably not weight loss....but probably need to go see your doctor anyway. Hormones/thyroid come to mind first, and they might have been altered by your weight loss (those are also why you lose hair post-partum). Simple blood test could tell you. You have lost a lot of weight, but I would check with your…

  • I've had PCOS for 10+ years. I have over a 100# to lose. I guess I'm incrediblly lucky to have had 2 healthy pregnancies despite having a hard time getting pregnant and miscarrying once. Of course the excess weight, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, acne, facial hair, etc are a daily pain in the hind end. I've been…
  • Feel free to friend me. I've had PCOS for over 10 years. I have over 100# to lose and just started this month. I've tried different meds, different diets, worked through infertility and a miscarriage (now I have 2 precious boys!) Work, 2 kids and life in general makes PCOS a bit of a slap in the face some days. Just…
  • Try roasting. My hubby got me a little toaster oven for my birthday (pretty cheap at WalMart). I put a little bit of olive oil and lite salt and pepper and broil till soft and a little browned. Baby carrots are REALLY GOOD this way!! Also bell pepper, onions, squash and potatos (not really a veggie but still yummy!)
  • If what you're doing is agreeing with your body, great! But there is such a thing as water intoxication that can kill....it takes a lot of water, but it can happen. Everything in moderation!
  • Try some veggies or whole grains instead. Maybe these will still work since they're natural and healthy, but a little less sugar.

  • Some days you just need a little more to eat! If you've had some water and you know it's not thirst being confused for hunger, then EAT SOMETHING. Grab a healthy snack (maybe some apples with a little p-nut butter) and quit denying your body something it is obviously needing today!
  • I have PCOS with all of it's nastiness---the excessive weight, high blood pressure and cholesterol, problems with infertility, facial hair, etc. I started Metformin about 7 or 8 years ago and I LOVE IT!!!!! It's not a miracle pill, but it definitely helps keep things better controlled. I lost some weight after I started…
  • Yeee haw (as my 2 year old would say!) Good job!!
  • PCOS means your hormones are already messed up. If you eat regular, healthy meals it will help. Are you taking Glucophge, because missing meals while taking that for your PCOS will make you feel really lousy. If you're feeling so turned off by food because of guilt, shame or whatever--those are the issues you need to del…
  • Quit beating yourself up!!!!! Give your body a break! It will quite happliy lose the weight if you don't starve it to death. You require carbs, protein and fat to maintain normal body functions, including regulating mood. If you're short changing yourself on calories, your body and mind are going to be getting pissed off!…
  • Take it day by day. Some days you may find you really dont want to eat them, other days you really need them to feel satisfied. Just make sure you're meeting your minimum and not feeling deprived all of the time, but they are yours to use--enjoy!
  • Try using some low sodium salt products (Mortons lite salt for example). If you start using less salt, you will find you don't need as much. Salt is addictive, the more you eat, the more you need to keep eating to get it to taste the same. You may find your current recipe starts getting too salty over time!
  • Lost the baby weight (~30# each time) with both my sons in 6-8 weeks. It's the fat I've had all my life that is so darned hard to get rid of! I think that if it took 10 months to put it on, it could take at least that long to get it back off. Because I was obese when I got pregnant, my OB only wanted me to gain 15lbs (sort…
  • Definitely see the change and the increased muscle definition. You're doing a great job and I have faith you will keep up the good work!
  • The Keppra may be contributing to the overeating. Asking her neurologist about potential fixes or a different medication may help. If switching meds isn't an option, maybe some counseling for impulse-control would help. Either way, her pediatrician and neurologist need to be involved if you're at the point of alarming the…
  • Time to take a breather.....you can recuperate and still do fine! Give yourself a break..you're trying to heal. Just take it easy and relax so your leg gets better. Try and eat as healthy as you can given the circumstances (I completely understand). Maybe work a little on upper body strength, or get one on those bicycle…
