I've thought about the noodles, but all I hear about the texture of them has turned me off. I am very much a texture person and if it's the least bit slimy, spongy, or fishy, I'm not going to eat it. I figured I saved money by not buying them. Instead, I use spaghetti squash or broccoli-slaw as my pasta replacement... both…

Being a "shorty" as well (I am also 5'3" - barely)... I can relate to how difficult it can be to get the numbers correct. It seems our numbers between what we should eat at a minimum (BMR) compared to what we should eat when adding daily activities - the range isn't very much! And we seem be barely hovering over over…

I would love to be added to the new group as well... pretty please? :flowerforyou:

I  milk, cheese, and greek yogurt... but the feelings aren't mutual... they don't love me back. Gut reaction, thick "milk mouth" (creates mucus in my mouth/throat), and it halts my "regularity".

Sarauk2sf - thanks for posting this link. Very informative information that provides yet another viewpoint on how the human body works. There is SO much information available and everybody seems to have a viewpoint. I wish someone would finally figure out the magic potion on the best method in order to lose weight....…

Congratulations on making dietary changes for your health! :drinker: I too am dairy and wheat (gluten) intolerant and I feel a heck of a lot better when I do not eat those foods! I stopped wheat almost 2 years ago. There is life afterwards and a world full of healthy real foods! Best of luck as you continue on this new…

Protein also stimulates glucagon which is an insulin countering horemone... carbs only stimulates insulin. LOSING weight will be VERY difficult if your body is constantly pumping insulin, which yes, is a fat storing hormone. When insulin is over-produced it will create a fat storage environment within your body, which will…

True, but protein also stimulates glucagon which is an insulin countering horemone... carbs only stimulates insulin. I was married to a type 1 Diabetic for 9 years. I can guarantee that his insulin need was MUCH more when he consumed carbs/sugars than when he consumed protein/fat/vegetables.

^ agree..... When carbs/sugars/grains are consumed, the body creates insulin, which is a fat storing hormone. Consuming proteins/fats/non-starchy vegetables and low GI fruits the body creates no or very little insulin, which means the fat burning mode continues. Even one small cheat - ie ONE cookie - your body will go from…

You must keep your body in a fat-burning mode. Anytime you eat carbs/sugars/grains your body creates insulin, which is a fat STORING hormone. Eating protein, fats, and non-starchy vegetables you stay in the fat burning mode (no or very little insulin being created by the body). Even with one small cheat - for example ONE…

I experimented today.... my avocado apple dip: 1 avocado (mashed of course) 4 oz Creme Fraiche (from Vermont Creamery) 1 tsp cinnamon 1 scoop of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder Mix well and scoop out with sliced apples. Delish! Made a bunch. I could only eat 1/2 of the serving with my apple for breakfast!…

This morning I had 2 HB eggs and 1/2 Avocado and mixed all together... didn't have any bacon or would have tossed that in the bowl as well. Was DELISH!
