I guess not.

I've lost 160ish and have maintained at +/- 5 lbs (depending on the time if month) of that weight for two years. Since we've all heard that keeping it off is the tough part, help and support from others in that boat would be great!
-
I'd say it took me about a year to lose the first 100, a another year to lose the next 50. It always goes fastest at the beginning.

Than you all! I plan on posting some pics after my wedding, so me in my wedding dress can show how far I've come!
-
It took me three years, one of which consisted of casualy eating healthier and adding activity whenever feasible, and two of which consisted of more structured dieting and a serious commitment to exercising at least every other day.

Weight training helps tone the muscles, which can fill in loose skin a bit, and help pull it up a bit tighter. Drinking enough water also helps skin elasticity, but both of these will only go so far. If skin has been overstreached, no matter your age, the only way to get it completely tight again is surgery. I've lost…

Thank you all! I figure this would be easier than the whole link thing.

Thank you everybody! For those who have requested pictures: I did make a pic post a while ago, and I'll probably make another one come fall, but for those who want something now, here is a link to the one I made earlier: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/620083-10-stone-140-lbs-gone-w-pictures

I'm 5'10. I started at 329 lbs, and as of my last weighing, I am down to 186. I have somewhere between 20 to 40 lbs to go, not sure where I want to end up. I started as a US size 24 (which was tiiiiiight) and now my 14s start to sag after after wearing them a few hours. I have a few pics on my profile (not really enough…

Thank you all!! A big portion of my continued success is being able to come on this website for support from all of you.
-
Thank you all! Your feedback is just as inspiring as looking at other people's sucess stories on here!

Thank you. :)

Thank you, it did! I love it too. Luckily for me, it's where I live AND work! I should change that profile pic. It was a long time coming, but I think I finally AM seeing myself as a new woman.

Thank you, I am!

I've done Atkins a few times, and did lose quite a bit of weight on it each time, but it is hard to stick to, and often as soon as you go off of it, weight piles back on. What I'm doing this time is low carb too, but not as strict as Atkins, and represents a way of eating that I can do forever without feeling restricted…

I keep telling people this when they ask for "how are you doing it" advice, but they never believe me! Hopefully, with more people saying it, they'll start believing us!!!
-
Yeah, but some of that was thanks to the fact that they float. Out of water, gravity still has its evil way with me.

Weight training, cardio (LOVE the heavy bag most of all!!!), limiting (not eliminating) processed foods and carbs. Most importantly, NEVER SKIP MEALS (kills metabolism and fosters overeating), and make sure you allow yourself to be bad once in a while. Nobody's perfect, and when we start expecting perfection from…

I'm 5'10" and I'd love to see/hear from people around my own height for comparison purposes too, especially since I don't have an exact goal in mind. I also wonder how you can tell your frame/build. I'm 211 lbs right now (down from 329) but I really have no way to tell what build I have. How do people determine this?
-
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look terrific!!! Though, I think from now on everyone should pose with goats.

@lisasdoinit: *blushes* Thank you. The only changes I noticed at first were that my clothes weren't fitting properly; they were getting baggy and billowy on me. I didn't really feel different. I noticed I looked a bit smaller in the face, I guess, around 15 lbs. Other people started saying something at around 20-30 lbs,…

Thank you!

Thank you all again! It'll be a year on March 1st. Wicked and Equus are the only ones I saw in London. Here in the states I've seen Rent and Chicago (if you're talking porfessional touring shows). Plus I've been in a lot of plays on the community theatre level. Most recently Cabaret.

Most importantly, I tell myself that nobody is perfect. When we start expecting perfection from ourselves, we only set ourselves up for failure. Therefore, when I'm naughty once in a while (either eating too much, or not working out when I should) I forgive myself and move on. In fact, I expect to be naughty every once in…

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement! And especially thank you, Alicia, for letting me borrow your camera so I could FINALLY take these darn pictures!!!!
-
Cool! I'm hoping that's where I'll be around then too, then. I have no idea how to tell build/frame size.
-
5'10" as well, 214 lbs. I'm guessing 145-165ish. We'll see.

I'm doing both. Cardio at least 3 times a week (elliptical and heavy bag, mostly) for an hour, and weight training when I can. When I can't get to the gym, it's wii fit. For diet, I'm doing portion control, heavily limiting processed foods, and going easy on the carbs. My number one rule (which is the one I credit most for…

I didn't become overweight until after graduation, but I was bullied in school for being gay. I think any time someone is bullied for being who they are, it can really affect the victim for life. I did my best to ignore my tormentors (though sometimes this was really only on the outside-even if I was hurting, I vowed to…

Clinical studies have shown that not only do people who are sleep depirved eat more, but that people who are sleep deprived have slower metabolisms. If you want to lose weight, neither are your friend. During the past year, I've made both getting enough sleep and not ever skipping meals a priority. Both bad habits cause…
