When I was 15 years old I weighed roughly 250 pounds. I was miserable. I felt completely betrayed by my body since all my friends were small and could wear whatever they wanted. This was back in 2004 so cute plus size clothes weren't a common place. Fast forward to 2014, I am 26 years old now. For 11 years I have fought…

I basically changed how I viewed/used my calories. MFP gave me something like 1600 to eat every day, however when I would workout I never knew if I should/how many calories I could eat from my burned calories. It led to a scale dance of up and down for weeks. I then used a macro calculator which brought my daily to 2100. I…

By taking care of yourself, health and all, you are making yourself a better mother for him. You're not being selfish by taking care of you. <-- From a person (I'm 26) who lost her Dad last year because he didn't care of himself and he died of obesity related issues.

My journey started when I was 15 years old (26 now). My diet and lack of exercise habits were alarming. I started small, I stopped drinking soda and getting way too large portions of food. It definitely wasn't an overnight change which is probably why I continue my healthy lifestyle 11 years later (although I know a lot…

I weigh myself once a week - Wednesday mornings. I sometimes will get on the day after if I think the scale is up to funny business (as in a completely unexplained gain/loss) but for the most part what I get on Wednesday is what I roll with. I personally can't handle the daily up and downs of the scale so I don't daily…

Looking for friends here. I rejoined MFP back in May 2014 and have had a slow restart but slow and steady wins the race right? My whole story can found in my profile so feel free to add me everyone :-)

((wine)) :drinker:

It really depends on the day but normally it ends up being lunch for me. Although if I workout in the morning it sometimes ends up being breakfast.
-
Couldn't agree more.

Networking on here is KEY to staying on track. I have used other systems in the past but the accountability from MFP buddies actually makes me look forward to logging on everyday. Add some friends with similar goals, it will really help. (Anyone, feel free to add me as a buddy)

I have briefly skimmed the responses here and agree with the overall response. My main piece is just keep going. Consistency adds up. I have been obese/overweight since I was 13 years old (26 now) - which means for HALF of my life I have been very aware of my size. It wasn't until age 15 I decided to do something about it…

I'm Kathy, 26 years old in Northern VA - I am currently marathon training (so all you runners, feel free to add me) - although I can't wait to get back to lifting more again ((strength training is my real love))

Because being overweight and not being able to do the things I want to do is harder.
-
Yes, because if I don't I gain weight and that makes me a sad panda. I started my "health journey" 11 years ago and the times I didn't monitor, I gained. I am SO OVER the lose/gain cycle so logging in everyday doesn't really bother me anyways.
-
If it has calories, I log it. So things like unsweetened tea and water, I don.t (Although according to Google unsweetened tea has 2 calories in it per mug  )
-
Anyone feel free to add me - I am on here multiple times a day, very active if ya want a motivational kick in the tush :drinker:

Lifting weights will work wonders to change your body fat % and you won't get bulky.

If dropping a few LBS doesn't work than Spanx it :drinker:

Pick me, cause I'm an owl :drinker:

I personally cannot drop a pound unless I monitor carbs. My macros trump my calorie count any day of the week. With that said, I do "lower carb" not a typical low carb diet. Basically I took what my macro calculator gave me (because my weight loss wasn't moving) and changed my ratios so that my carbs would go down by a…

Add me too :-) Always down for new buddies

Friendly

Beautiful :-) My pic is an owl, so not sure what someone can say about me

This thread is awesome :drinker:

Yes, both my SO and I have the access codes to each others phone. I have no problem with him picking up my phone to do something (it is searching the web, not snooping). Nothing to hide here

Tracking is key - not sure if you have a heart rate monitor but I would invest in one of those too.
-
I think your best bet is to play with your protein/fat/carb ratios and not calories to get the scale moving again. I used an online marco calculator (Macro Fit I believe) and it actually upped my daily MFP calorie goal (that scared me) but definitely changed my macro ratios. On weeks that I am spot on with marcos, I feel…
