Don't forget that walking is the best exercise in the world and that's what it takes to move the fat around. And water! My goodness! Make sure you drink water! That is the most cleansing thing you can do for your body. Fresh fruit & vegetables and beans and whole grains. I am NOT young, but my husband and I began doing…

As a gramma go babies, I'll have to remember this when they go off to school.. You have a sweet gramma! You be sure & give her the hugs she deserves.

Good job. I'm approaching 64 & having a very difficult time. Are you sticking to the 1200cal or more? Thanks & good luck! Katey

I never count "tidying up." however, if it takes me half an hour and I move furniture, then yes I do. I only clean like that about once a month.

You ladies are all so ... Experimental! I sometimes add cinnamon to the grounds before brewing or if I'm in the mood for something Extra Special, I add Hershey's syrup and orange extract... Now that's tasty! For company I might get a raspberry flavored coffee, but mostly I like it straight up strong & black. :drinker:

Stress isn't just one thing- I had to plan my father's funeral while preparing to fly my husband and I to his son's wedding. Sometimes it's just EVERYTHING! I gained back most of what I'd lost since beginning. Now my husband tries to get us out for a walk-even a short one-every day. Getting away, even for a few minutes,…

I will be myself - when the little kids ask, I tell them, "a little ole gramma who hands out treats."

I forgot to say skin side down and it's easy to remove right out of the skin because it sticks to the foil.

We grill a lot and I can agree with Duk, Dianne, and RealParis- the simpler the better! We use an aluminum pan, I place chunks of whipped butter, sprinkle with hormel bacon pieces, Morton & Bassett "herbs from Provence" and then lemon pepper over it all. BBQ VERY hot at about 450F for about 20-25 minutes. On the propane…

My husband and I walk together and we talk to each other. Probably the only thing that keeps me going.

I note that this thread was started by a female and has many male comments - some very funny, thank-you! I hate to be obvious, but men and women are DIFFERENT. Women will only lose weight by moderation. Oh, yes, the first time you go to extremes it works, the second less so, but by the third time you try boosters and try…

Hi, 63 here and I see that men, even over 60 will lose easier than women. Darn hormones! I'm having an especially difficult it,e right now with so many life changes, my father's passing and then 3 weddings this year. If any one has a clue - the only one I can offer is walk, walk, walk, Long Slow Distance.. My…

Ladies, ladies! I am 5'3" and have just eaten my way up to 160+!!! I've been trying to lose weight but it's incredibly difficult because I dieted so severely in my 20's & 30's. Luckily in my 40's & 50's I was employed as a nurse and it kept the weight down. But let me say, if I told my husband that I wanted to go back to…

If you're weight training perhaps you just need to stabilize for a while. You may have more muscle mass. I aree with "Rows" that fat% is probably a better indicator. Hope you're balancing out the weight training with walking. Also, you're young, don't sweat the small stuff; get to know your body.

I don't think there's a conspiracy, but have you noticed on TV that the food companies are advertising that they now put all the information in BIG numbers and on the front? I think in some cases the calorie count has changed - some up and some down. What I do is go through the list and try to find the entry that matches.…

I like the low fat vanilla rice milk on my cereal, but there's no calcium so need to take a supplement. I use the original Silk coconut for cooking. I quit drinking milk at 25 and - what a surprise! - my skin totally cleared up! Unfortunately, when you stop drinking milk, you lose the enzymes to digest it. Interestingly…

Oh, and ladies, at your age I worried, too, about how awful they looked, but your husband's a man who loves all of you and he really doesn't care. I have very fair skin, so the silvery marks hardly show - even the wide ones on my stomach. So don't worry - focus on health, get out & walk. Worry causes more problems than a…

Yes. They fade. On my hips they have virtually disappeared. Mine on my stomach are HUGE from big baby boys. They don't go away, but they do fade. Please post the name of the scar cream, I wonder if it will work after 32 years....?

WALK. LSD: Long Slow Distance. Take the time to walk every day. It will work. :drinker: Dirnik plenty of water. Write down everything you eat. Don't give up. Good luck.

I buy those tiny tubs of Haagen Dazs - dark chocolate when I can find it. Nice treat now n then.

I have found it works well when I actually measure the amounts and under estimate my exercise. I love this site because there's no pressure- I'm simply training myself to do what's good for me. Imagine that! After 60 years of diets, I'm finally learning to make eating an ordinary part of my life. :ohwell:

Hi, Peggy, I'm katey & I've been on MFP for almost a year. I can tell you, I get real discouraged. Our metabolism does slow somewhat, but walking works! And so does carrying grandchildren. I try to eat often and pretty much count everything. I se the tools for my own recipes so I can just click on salad, for…

I think sometimes it's just obsessing about food...we're focussing on weighing & measuring & counting... I'm always checking on how many calories I have left. My husband gets me away from the table and gives me water to drink and asks if I have something to read. He's a good support for me. Ah, but he's not here... We just…

I was one of their number until I joined MFP! Now I'm only overweight. Am I happy? Yes, I am! Now to work on being overweight. My husband is soooo worried that I'll get skinny - hahahahahahaha! That will never happen. Have a great day. K

I'm 63 and i carry my weight well, therefore my husband will not let me go below 150. Hope to achieve that goal by May 30th. Good luck out there in wt loss land! remember to have a life and not totally focus on your weight! +GB+ katey

I am 63 and have been put on diets or dieting since I was 6 months old! You have put into words exactly what I've learned over the years. It's YOUR goal. YOU set it and YOU take the responsibility to attain it. It's not anyone else's problem or business. Thank-you for your words - well done. katey

Seriously, it depends. I wondered for many years why I was the only female in my family that had large sized breasts. I nursed all 3 of my babies and it was very painful at times before the milk let down. Then one day upon review of my mammogram my ob/gyn said that everything looked good and there was no change to the…

Nope, I'm 62. Hard to lose at our age. Have to try, though. good luck.

TWO things you might try - Vitamin C on an empty stomach in the morning with a full glass of water; the other, as WW will tell you, "healthy oils." Healthy oils literaly lubricate your body. Make sure you're getting just the right amount - up to 3 tablespoons a day - in your vegetables, in your salad.. where ever seems…
