At my age (75 in a week) I find it doesn’t apply to me. I am not that active, but then, I do watch grade school children, drive them around, and sometimes forget to eat and other times just go crazy! (Think cake & ice cream) On two occasions I got severely dehydrated ~ it doesn’t take much! Lost 10 lbs each time. 😳 I do…

Cold hands & feet are a sign of dehydration - make sure you're drinking plenty of water.

I'm a practicing Catholic and we have no meat on any Friday. That being said, sometimes we are invited to dinner and, guess what? Meat! On those days we pray an extra decade of the rosary or spend 30 minutes at adoration. Don't be too "stuck" on the rules - it's your inner attitude that will determine your Lenten outcome.…

I am old & coffee gets me started. I drink it black, no milk or sugar & love it. I buy beans & grind them fine and make really strong coffee to get me going. I don't drink any in the afternoons - my goodness! It would keep me up at night! Love my coffee. Smells good. Tastes good. No calories. :drinker:

Studies show that women loose weight best by 1200 - 1600 calories and and increase in exercise. That is the IDEAL. Men are different. They do not have female hormones so they can "starve" and lose weight. Not fair, but that's how it works. Know you know.

I had trouble with my ipad at first - it simply would not work! The advice to close it and log back in will work if you're struggling with an ipad. It works ok with my apple desk top. I NEVER use the app - it just isn't apple friendly. Not for me, anyway. (I'm old.)

I knew that somewhere here at MFP there were reasonable people! I am glad to meet you all - even for one post. I am 65 years and at 18 months a well-meaning DR. told my mom to put me on a diet that I was off the charts or something. Well, my little baby has been screaming in hunger ever since... I have dieted for almost…

I love allrecipes.com - have tried many desserts from that site and am able to change to lower calorie by using THIS website and actually make it better!

All good advice! Be sure you increase Vit.C and quit aspirin and other blood thinners 2 weeks prior. Oh! Stock up on popsicles!

Never buy their stuff. Umpqua nonfat frozen yogurt, vanilla. Tastes like the real thing!

Weight watchers allows the first two cups of coffee or tea as water. I count those, real water and herbal tea as liquids. I am old-ish and if I don't get at least 8 glasses of fluid a day I do get dehydrated - so, I count! Always try to go over. :drinker:

Judging by what we actually eat: Bananas Apples Blueberries Bell peppers Baby carrots Broccoli

I stayed with my sister for a weekend one year and she is a Take Shape for Life counselor... She & her husband made snacks for me to taste.. A little hot water & into the microwave... Hmmm. Ok, K guess, if that's all you're going to eat! Then a plain meal of lean meat/fish with salad & vegetable in the evening. I found it…

Oh, I fell in love and we "celebrated" every day! I mean really GOOD food, just way too much. I was shocked when I saw a picture of myself...theN I stood on the scale - ALMOST 200 POUNDS! Now, that would not be bad if I were 6 feet tall, but I am 5'3" - so I wondered what to do? Every day was stil a celebration. Then, I…

Oh this is a great subject! I have terrible road rage...or used to; now I drive a hybrid, so somebody slow gives me better mileage. Here in Oregon, it seems like only 50% of the drivers actually KNOW how to drive correctly. The rest seem to be wandering aimlessly - and at the price of gas, they must be rich! My guess,…

I married a guy like that. When confronted he said - are you ready? He said, "oh, you're ok, I just want you to be better." AND YOU KNOW? I never was good enough. He's my ex. Walk away and don't look back!

I do NOT like the new layout. But I'm old and don't like change. Not a whole lot. What I DO like is how wacky everyone is. Now THAT's something to be thrilled about. Nite, ya'll.

Hi there ladies. Almost 65, in fact, have received my Medicare card! When I was younger - MUCH younger! I tried every fad including starvation, that came along. Now that I'm on mfp, whole different story! Eat what I want, when I want, with a focus on good nutrition. We started a garden - vegetables grow really well here in…

Yup. Me, too. Log every single day! :drinker:

I take it fresh brewed, dark roast & decaf, half& half. Starbucks is the ONLY brand in my neighborhood who provides decaf for the grocery stores. I love my coffee! Starbucks will always make it just the way I like it. They are so nice that I like to leave a little tip, even for so little a purchase. :drinker:

Sounds like good stuff and I have fresh parsley & cilantro in my garden! I think I'll exchange the apple juice for plain nonfat yogurt and call it a meal. That way there's more protein & calcium. Thanks! :flowerforyou:

Very cute story! I used to wear everything from flats to 4" spikes... And then, arthritis. Yes, 5'3" here and loveloveloved my high heels! Was one of those girls that practiced with a book on my head. I could dance and scamper along... Oh well, if you are young enough, I agree with starting with about 1 1/2" - that's what…

I cannot buy candles that smell like food - they make me salivate and crave to eat! I have candles to make my house smell good & not smell like food! K

For women, because of our hormones, every time we restrict our intake our body worries that it won't get enough and won't let the pounds go! The only way to "fool" your body is to eat over 1200 calories and to start your exercise regime very slowly. Start with walks, gradually increasing and never restrict your diet so…

I did not read all the responses, but you are too young to be 1-obsessing about this and 2-to be eating such a small amount! If you are exercising, you need to eat more. EAT MORE! and you will lose weight. Eat more,

I don't feel sorry for me, but it does depress me sometimes when I'd really, really like to eat 1400 calories at a sitting. Think Macaroni Grill...mmmmmm! Dinner & dessert could top 2400 EASILY! Thanks. I accept your sympathy. :flowerforyou:

After quickly perusing this thread, I do not see the most important point in eating fats: fat soluble vitamins. Vitamins A D E & K are fat soluble and you need them for good health. Yes, there are other sources for these, but avocado contains A & E as well as C, B vitamins and minerals and mono-unsaturated fats which can…

I am 5'3" with medium build and moderate muscle mass considering I'm 64 yrs old. My husband prefers a little extra, and I do have a moderate bust, so my goal is 148-152. That sounds like a lot, but at that weight I wear a size 9-10. Every body is different! I agree with the person who advised exercise/weights to change…
