There may be an easier way of doing this, but here is my recommendation. Go to sparkrecipes.com and click the "Use Our Free Recipe Calculator" button. As long as you know roughly how much of each ingredient you used, and how much of it you are eating in one serving, you can then get a calorie amount for a serving. MFP lets…

Your weight can fluctuate quite a bit on a daily basis, so don't worry a lot about a 1/2 pound "gain" in 3 days. Look more towards overall trends over a period of a month or so. Any change in your eating or activity levels should be given 2-3 weeks minimum before deciding if it works or does not work.

Cholesterol in eggs isn't a big deal unless you are battling high cholesterol right now. Don't fear the fat, either. Some people will do 1 whole egg and supplement with Egg Beaters as a compromise, though.

I did 4 rounds in 20 minutes of: 7 x 65# Back Squat, 10 x 15# Dumbbell overhead walking lunge steps (right hand), 7 x Burpees, and 10 x 15# Dumbbell overhead walking lunge steps (left hand) I now know which shoulder is the weakest, too (left).

Go to the gym. Like IndyHannah said, you won't even notice how miserable you feel while you're there.

What's wrong with Diet Coke? It tastes terrible, that's what. Just my 2 cents =)

Gotta love it. What'd you score?

It's sort of an older book, but Jorge Cruise's 8 Minutes in the Morning book was a huge success for me when I first began to weight train. You think it sounds like nothing but it does work and it doesn't take a lot of time. Try to see if the library has a copy or find a used copy. It's a good way to start but you'll want…

That is so awesome to hear. People tend to complicate weight loss, and I think you really captured the essence of it.

Not really on a plan. I focus on eating unprocessed foods, whole grains, and leaner cuts of meat. The critical key to success for me is to plan ahead and make just about everything at home except 1-2 meals per week, so I can control my calorie intake.

Ironically, the keyboard in front of you is probably more germ-infested than a regularly cleaned public bathroom.

Congrats! I remember the day I dropped below 200, the feeling is like no other.

In addition to straight distance work, devote at least 1 day a week to sprints. Think short distances -- 100m or even the distance from home plate to 1st base. I'd say start with just a few sprints and work up to 10-12 max.

I'm sort of with SHBoss here. I do have a goal # in mind for weight, but it was not set arbitrarily. It's in the high end of the "healthy" BMI range and about 10 pounds less than my previous lowest adult weight (about 5 years ago). I know how even at that point I still needed to keep going with my weight loss, so I know I…

A definite reminder to read labels carefully and don't trust the "branding".

We ought not to be so fat-averse, even when it comes to saturated fats. http://www.slate.com/id/2248754 "The foundation for the "fat is bad" mantra comes from the following logic: Since saturated fat is known to increase blood levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol, and people with high LDL cholesterol are more likely to develop…

What is it about banana nutrition that makes you think have to eat them?

I keep it simple. Buy fresh salmon fillets, rinse and then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast in oven at 450 degrees for about 12-14 minutes. You can add fresh lemon juice both before and after cooking, too.

I don't know about cardio, but you could probably do some upper body weight lifting. Presses and the like. But otherwise, I'd say give your body a rest. I think breaking a bone is a traumatic stressor on your body and maybe you should rest a week or so and eat really well to fuel a quick, successful recovery. I have no…

It's probably a typical fluctuation in body weight that may have something to do with sodium intake, recovery water retention, or a few other factors. It's nothing to worry about. There's no way in 24 hours you "gained" 1.4 pounds of fat or muscle. Just a normal, every day fluctuation.

Thanks for sharing your story. You've accomplished so much!

my preference is whey. I buy Body Fortress brand. It's carried at Kroger, Walmart, and Target locally. I tend to only use it after heavy lifting mixed with 1% milk. Can't stand it mixed with water.

Have you looked at the Crossfit Endurance program? http://www.crossfitendurance.com/

The best way to regain control is to own your feelings. Admit that you made a mistake, acknowledge that everybody makes mistakes, and that letting a mistake totally derail you is not the answer. So what if you made unhealthy choices yesterday? Don't allow the choices of the past to influence your choices today. Everyone…

All these microwave recipes for egg whites -- do they work as well if you use whole eggs?

I would say that the term "toning" has no real meaning. There is fat loss and fat gain. More fat = less muscle definition, regardless of how much muscle you have. There is weak and strong. Lifting weights means you get stronger. Low weights just mean you don't get as strong. Check out this article:…

@MacMadame: I hate when I get an injury that prevents me from full use of my body. I get pretty angsty, but so far I've luckily avoided any major injuries. What was your background before getting into triathlons? Did you bike a lot? Runner? I am a mountain biker, then I started running a lot more with Crossfit, so I am…

@mojogurl: Sounds like a nice setup at your box. Ours is pretty raw and we have a wide variety of people that come in. I usually follow the main site and work on skills as I see the need. I sent a friend request. It looks like our goals are similar and you've already lost 20 pounds! That is a great start.

For those who feel like a full body routine is too time consuming, I suggest looking into compound movements. Avoid isolation exercises like bicep curls and leg machines. Take a look at resources at stumptuous.com and check out New Rules for Lifting (There's a specific Women's edition as well) from the library. You can hit…

Personally, I don't buy/eat them. I'd rather eat unprocessed snacks like nuts and fruit. But I do think a 100 cal popcorn bag isn't such a bad idea as popcorn will be very filling vs a few Oreo crisps (I tried those once and they were terrible, IMO).
