I squat with my feet angled 30ish degrees, under my shoulders. Knees go _out_ over the foot, which means my legs, if you look down at them, form a V shape. My knees are not going straight forward but out over those angled feet, keeping the knees out and wide. I also have a forward lean as I rack the bar low, but I do not…

I love this post! Congrats. You really captured the journey well with both images and words.

Nice work!

Excellent progress! Your story is a great reminder that taking photos is really important. You may not ever share them with anybody else, but you can look and see better than "feel" the difference.

That is NOT the Primal Blueprint, the topic of which we've been discussing. That is something totally different. I don't think I could eat raw meat like that for 1 day, much less the rest of my life.
-
Croaker, you are pretty much on principle with what is called Primal blueprint. When eating primal/paleo, you eschew processed foods including grains, and eat quality meats, vegetables, nuts, and fruits. I eat a lot of eggs, beef, chicken, pork, veggies of all kinds, almonds, pecans, apples, just to highlight a few things.…

I'm personally on the fence regarding intermittent fasting. I've heard pros and cons from those who have done it. I wish I could offer you more on that subject, but I've not done it myself to give firsthand feedback. It's taken me a couple months to ease into a primarily grain-free, non-processed diet ala Primal. I had…

Eating per the Primal Blueprint is eating well. You do bring up a good point, though, regarding timeframe for a true plateau (2 vs 6 weeks.) Again I urge the OP to measure other things - body measurements, or new PRs (personal records) when exercising.
-
Another idea: Cycle in one day a week of eating at or over maintenance by 200-300 calories.

how many calories are getting right now? these last 10-15 pounds are the hardest to get. I know, I am right there with you. Trying to eat Primal Blueprint and get my last 15 now. It took me 2 weeks to drop 1 pound on the scale. Make sure you are measuring yourself. The scale is not the only measure of our success. Are you…

Glad I could help you. NerdFitness.com is a great resource. I will probably be using these routines myself when I travel next week =)

Well, congrats on finding the "diet" for you. Now, what are you going to do for your lifestyle when the weight is off? Are you going to eat like that the rest of your life?
-
I think we should treat ourselves every now and then, but I am really trying to eat whole foods as a majority. I guess it would be more defined by what I don't eat: No processed grains: bread, waffles, pasta, grits. I avoid packaged foods and snacks -- apples and nuts instead of 100 cal snack packs or energy/protein bars.…

Add-ons to your meals & snacks: Whole milk Nuts or nut butters (try something like almond for a change) Cottage Cheese (not the fat free kind) Apples or berries Greek yogurt

I don't know if this is a feasible option, but you can quit cold turkey much easier if you are not in your normal environment when you stop smoking. When I quit, I smoked my last cigarette the night before I left for vacation. I didn't take any cigarettes with me on the trip, and I just resolved not to break down and buy…

My go to snack lately is an apple with a few almonds and pecans.

I love the 29ers capabilities. It's also full suspension so the roots and bumps that used to bother me are no longer much of an issue. I really feel like it can ride over just about anything and that I'm limited by my own mental blocks. The negative is the weight. It's a stocky bike. I can't complain too much as I actually…

That is great to hear from a fellow mountain biker. I ride a Fisher, too! It's a 29er.

The last few pounds are always the hardest. Make sure you are eating quality food and I do urge you to eat at least those 1200 calories. Your body wants to hold on to what fat it has left, so don't let it start cannibalizing your muscle because you aren't eating enough.
-
Do not sweat "3 pounds gained". You more than likely didn't gain that much really. That'd be 3500 x 3 = 10,500 calories _excess_ you'd eaten!! No way that is the case, my friend. Focus on the inches lost and other non-scale related measurements.
-
I do Crossfit. The general formula is 3 days on/1 day off. Often I will go for a bike ride on a "rest" day though.
-
.... You've been consistently going, barring sickness, travel, or other minor breaks, for over a year. Thank you Crossfit!

That's actually a pretty tame sandwich compared to what you can already get. Sure it has a lot of excess sodium, but it's a very "light" 540 calories. You could eat a lot worse at a fast food joint, is all I'm trying to say. I think if I got one, I'd ask them to hold that special sauce, too.

I quit saying "I'm going to lose XX pounds by __________". Because I'd get there and not have lost that XX pounds and feel like a failure. It took me a long time to realize this was not helping me, and now I approach it differently. I know what I want to lose total (roughly), so I just treat it as a steady, long battle…
