My chiropractor got me started on this fitness journey with a Detox program from Standard Process. I lost 10 lbs in the first week (started at 382) and could feel a difference. I did this program for the prescribed 3 weeks and felt better. I don' t know if it was from the components of the Detox program or because I was…

Pretty sure you are gonna die now.... Oh, wait. If a cheating a bit kills you, I would be dead many, many times over. No worries.

The Mayo Clinic weighs in on this topic at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/exercise/HQ00594_D The bottom line at the end of the article says everyone is different and you should pay attention to your body.

I feel utterly naked when I don't have my watch on. I only take it off to work out and sleep. I sometime take it off when I am doing heavy sweating in the yard or working on the car or any other time when I might damage it. I am also a bit obsessive about the accuracy of my watch or any other time keeping devise within…

I am probably not a good one to say as I usually push it too soon. "Hurts a bit" is not usually a big deal. Stabbing pain would be of more concern. I would see how it feels with the correct form. Pay close attention when you squat and make sure you warm it up good before you go with the full weight.

I applaud that you are trying to gain some strength and become more fit... just like me. I belong to a couple of gyms and have seen some serious work from some of the women and women spotting for men. If you are serious, then you are welcome, as far as I am concerned.

At 55, I haven't really noticed a problem with the cardio. In fact, I also do cardio on the days I lift and it doesn't seem to bother me (yet). Tomorrow, I will be on day 15 with Squats (115), Bench (80) and Row (100). I am just now starting to struggle with the later reps, so I may run into the same problem very soon. I…

First of all, she makes you breakfast??? I am sooooooo totally jealous! Second, perhaps you could enlist her help coming up with delicious, healthy meals that will help you reach your fitness goal.

Outstanding progress. You are doing great. Keep it up!

The difference is amazing. Well done!

Well put, Howie. Though I differ a bit on whether or not we can change habits. I absolutely agree that the 20 somethings can get annoying sometimes and come off as a bit whiny. However, I think us older, more mature men can help the young ones grow up a bit. Thanks for the post.

My daily calorie goal without any exercise is 2400. Most days, I eat more... sometimes as much as 5,000+ (not necessarily a good thing). There are lots of different kinds of fitness goals. Friend me if you like. When reviewing some of the comments here, just remember Col 3:12. (I saw your profile) :-)

Fit = Physically attractive to me. Personality and confidence is icing on the cake. If you get into the whole person, there are many, many more important things than even being fit.... like good character, optimism and spirit .

Absolutely! I tried some greasy food after eating better for a while and it made me sick to my stomach, literally. I also find my taste buds find more flavor in the natural taste of foods now than they did before I started this journey.

1. Overhead Press 2. Bench Press Both involve my shoulder... I have a torn Labrum in my left shoulder and the overhead press is the most difficult because my left shoulder is much weaker than my right. I also feel it in the bench press. Not a big problem yet as I have not gotten into any of the heavier weights yet. I am…

I put the StrongLifts spreadsheet in Google Drive and I access it from my Droid phone. It works fine through the phone.

This is what we do too. Fruits and veggies travel pretty well. Sandwiches will easily make a 6 hour trip with a cooler and some Frozen stuff. You can even freeze water bottles and use that as the cooler.
