A cup is typically a measure of volume, not weight, though the measuring cups here also have ounces on them. That said, 8 oz is the same as one cup. There are plenty of conversion calculators online that can help you with that.

Amazing results. You look great! Thanks for sharing the inspiration.

No way that is true. However I did find this on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvAHYR5DnZE Good one. A man came home to find his blond wife sitting in the middle of the living room floor in tears, sweating profusely, wearing two overcoats. Around her was a can of paint and a roller. When he asked what was wrong,…

You should relax and take a long, slow, cleansing breath. Laddyboy is absolutely right and I agree with him 100%. Please, please don't obsess about the scale and just keep doing the things you are doing. Cloths will continue to get looser and you will continue to feel better. The scale can be your enemy in the journey you…

You are absolutely my favorite person of the day (right behind Tony Romo, of course)

Amazing transformation. You look HOT! Way to go!!

Love 'em and hate 'em... Okay, I mostly just love 'em. Then I go to the gym and get rid of 'em. Glad there is not a pot-luck every day. LOL.

We got a Vita-Mix and it works GREAT! I have heard good things about the Blendtec, but have no first hand experience with it. Our Vita-Mix does a great job making green smoothies, soups, sorbet (ice cream), etc. We have not had any problems with it, but have only had it for a few months. We bought it at a demonstration at…

Hey, those were my techniques too! LOL. Thanks for the post.

Excellent tool. Great plan to help you stick to it.

Great job... Now on to the next (lower) level!

As I lose weight, I am working my way back down through the clothes that I had when I was putting it on. I will need to buy a couple of belts, because I am currently on the last hole. I am also fitting better into some old suits. I think it is easier for guys because our styles don't change like a woman's style.

You might actually have better results if you work out alone. That allows you to concentrate on what you are doing.

I am thinking that I will eat until I am unconscious... Then I rethink that and will eat what I want and try to log as best I can. Portions will be best guess. We are going to friends and I will be grazing before and after the big meal. Then I be eating delicious leftovers in reasonable portions for the next week. I will…

I have been using a CPAP machine for my sleep apnea for more than 10 years. I can tell you that it makes a HUGE difference in my quality of sleep. I wore a mask that went over my nose until I had my machine replace a month or so ago. This time I got the appliance that does not cover my whole nose, but settles directly…

If it takes a friend to motivate you to actually get up and go to the gym, by all means... involve a friend. Whatever it takes to get you to get up and go. The key is to GO (did I say that enough). ;-) Once you get there, you need to be focused on why you are there. I have taken my daughter to the gym a couple of times…

This is absolutely correct. If we could spot reduce fat, people who chew gum would have skinny faces.

LOL. I love that one!

The best thing to do is keep it interesting so you will keep doing it. Whatever that is, the important thing to do is keep moving. Jogging is better from the standpoint that you actually work more muscles because you bounce up and down. Jogging and walking the same distance don't actually burn the same number of…

What have you set up as your goals? Perhaps you misjudged your lifestyle (sedentary, active, etc.)? Are you logging everything that touches your lips? Are you exercising and correctly entering the calories burned? Are you underestimating your portions on your journal? What types of foods are you eating? Are you on any…

That is amazing and inspiring! You ROCK granny! You truly look like a different person.

Nice one. Thanks for sharing.

I am happy to hold you accountable (in a gentle, prodding manner, of course) if you are willing to do the same for me. Add me if you like.

My wife likes to mix a bit of mayo in with broccoli when she cooks it. A bit high on the fat, but I still get the benefit of the broccoli. You might try different ways of cooking the veggies and different types of veggies to see what you might like. There is a site called http://www.101cookbooks.com/ that has vegetarian…

If you really want to get frustrated, don't eat back your exercise calories. Your body will go into starvation mode (thinking it is starving) and struggle to hold on to every ounce. If you eat all the calories you are supposed to (including those exercise calories) your body will relax its hold on your fat reserves. If you…

Absolutely. I have actually been made sick eating a food that I had not eaten in a long time.

I am reading a book by Covert Bailey called Smart Exercise. He talks about this exact topic and explains why in very plain English. The fit person will burn more calories because the fit person's body is more efficient in the biochemical processes that burn fuel (fat and sugar).

Check out the dark leafy greens as well. Things like collard greens, turnip greens and kale. Not surprisingly, these things are the rock stars of nutrient dense foods. Cooked correctly, they can really taste great and have very few calories. Here is a web site showing the nutrient density of many foods we can eat. I found…

Be careful thinking that you can exercise certain muscles and have the fat stripped from them. If this were true, people who chew gum would have skinny faces.

You might have better luck if you also eat back your exercise calories. The body is an incredibly sensitive and stubborn thing. If it thinks it is not getting enough calories for the your level of activity, it will do everything it can to hold on to every gram of fat it has in reserve. This is called starvation mode. The…
