Are you on any meds? I'm on Victoza, after trying Metformin and Glipizide first. My A1C a year ago, when I was first diagnosed, was 10.9, my last three tests ( 3 months apart and reducing meds) have been 5.8. I can tell you as I lost weight my sugar has been easier to control and I eat on average 100 to 120 net carbs,…

I have a permanent filter on my mouth but not my brain. I've learned that most people don't care what you have to say, that's why they talk so much. So, personally, I do not say anything unless you ask. You ask and I will tell you what I think, but I'll do it as politely and respectfully as possible.

I might be doing the one in Grand Rapids...and that's only because the one in Mt. Morris is sold out!! That's so close to where I live!!

From what I've read you have to stay above your BMR. So whatever your calories are minus the exercise calories still needs to be above your BMR. So if your BMR is 1600 and you eat 2000 calories, but you burned 500, it would be 2,000 - 500 = 1500. You'd still need to eat another 100 calories to hit your BMR mark. Otherwise…

What stood out about what you said is that you're really tired after some of your meals and I know I used to feel that way when my sugar was high. I would just take a nap and sleep it off. At the time I didn't know what was going on, it was before I was diagnosed by in hindsight, yep, high sugars. It's best to test at the…

Definitely. I've actually experimented a bit with it since my sugar is decent and when I'm off it for about two days my hunger comes back. Kind of stinks too because eventually I'd like to be off it but now I'm a little worried about trying it on my own. On a positive note I had my doctors appointment and it went really…

Yep it's happened to me and it always freaks me out too! I don't take insulin so I have to be careful with what I eat in carbs. I can tell you that if you've worked out really hard, usually you can get away with eating more carbs because the muscles tend to soak it up, but that's if you eat it shortly after working out.…

What is up with Lori not watching her kid!! I mean, I'm not a complete Lori hater but really? He was just shot, why is he roaming around the woods during a zombie apocalypse by his freaking self?!
-
I'm a huge zombie fan and love this show. Definitely fills the zombie/apocalypse need in me lol.

Honestly, if you can't find the nutritional information on it then I wouldn't eat it. One thing I would like to know is why do so many people assume because someone wants to know the carb count in a slice of bread that they are atkins, when in reality there's many of us that have to be hyper-aware of all carbs because of…

Congrats!! It's so nice to receive complements that aren't specifically tied to our weight! I love those :)

I'll have to check out those books. The only time I've had a major liver dumb when I was exercising was when I went to the gym on only Almonds. It just wasn't enough and my sugar went up. Now, I just eat my normal meal before I go and then later in the day I can usually eat slightly more carbs because (at least what I…

Can you explain what you meant about the exercise, etc. I can't afford to purchase a book right now, lol. Just had a couple of birthdays and the kids in sports but I really strive to understand my diabetes to get better control. I'm currently on Victoza only, used to be on glipizide but had way to many lows. However, I…

First I cut out a lot of carbs, I was diagnosed diabetic about a year ago, and started eating more fruits and vegetables. I lost about 30 lbs. Next I realized that I wasn't loosing anymore weight, and I came back here and started logging my calories. Now that I watch my calories and move A LOT more I've dropped another 30…

That's what I need to do :(

I love Supernatural and Netflix ftw! I bet the blu-ray versions look amazing...maybe Amazon will have them on sale this holiday season :)

Looks like to convert American sugar readings to Canadian you divide by 18 and to convert Canadian to American you would multiply by 18. For instance my fasting is usually around 114 in the morning, so in Canadian values its 6.33 :) Hope that helps!

Congratulations on your success!

Lol, mines in my kitchen too!

Roflmao :)

I would go between the two, eating more fuel on the days you use it and eating less on the days that you're less active. But I'm not an expert either. Remember to check your calories again once you start the 30DS and Ripped in 30. For an example, today I worked 9 hours and was sitting for most of it. Because I was inactive…

Mines open to friends and I've never had a mean comment, but I have to admit that there are times when I will have a tablespoon or two of something and not log it (anything bigger than that and I log it). I do remember it in my head and make sure with those calories I don't go over but shrug....I was always a closet eater.…

I've gone from a 42DDD to a 36D, and I swear even though they are in a D cup they sure don't look like it. Honestly, I will happily deal with the boob shrinkage and *sigh* the sag to be a thinner and healthier me. Honestly I don't think they firm back up after weight loss but I could be wrong. I can see a boob job in my…

My 10 and 17 years old are in the same situation. My 17 year old weighs around 184 (she's dropped 10 lbs) and is 5'1". My 10 year old is in a lot better situation, but we've kept her in sports. She's 120 and 5' tall, but you can still tell that she's overweight. I've been trying to instill correct eating habits in them but…

One of the things that really struck me was the fact that a person who has been overweight/obese and has lost weight compared with a person of the exact same body makeup but has never been overweight or obese will require 20% less calories to maintain their weight. Do you think this holds true even if they increase muscle…

I've worn my bodybugg for the last 5 days or so and couldn't believe how many calories I burn in a day. Anywhere from 2200 to 2700. Which means 1200 to 1400 calories is way to low for me! Yay!
-
Bump for later!

I completely agree. I've told her that my doctor is really strict about diabetes control and personally think he's excellent. But you know how it is, she wants to give it some time and see how it goes. I still can't believe with a 7.0 A1C she was put on 2000mg of metformin a day (which she isn't taking). My two hour is…

I watched the first part last week, it is really sad. Hoping to watch the second part soon online.
