  • I will be very happy to maintain 145 at 5 ft 8 but my mental goal is 140, which is what I weighed in college. At 145 my old clothes are too big, and new ones look pretty good,...can't get much happier than that.
  • I have to be compulsive about logging in every morsel and all exercise. There are days of discouragement when the scales don't budge, but then they do, and I am fitting in clothes I couldn't wear for the last two years. Compulsive behavior does have its rewards! Good luck. You can do this!!!! Just be realistic on the time…
  • Just got back late Thursday from an attempted river cruise on the lower Danube and trip to Istanbul. We cruised only four days instead of seven and upriver instead of down because of Danube river flooding and closed locks. The hotel in Istanbul had scales in the bath, so I was able to see that I had maintained weight…
  • Good day to all! I am pleased with having met my May goals. My June goal is modest, with seeking only a three pound loss, as tomorrow we are flying to Budapest for a lower Danube river cruise. I am worried about over-eating on the ship, although I know we will be doing lots of walking. UK sisters, any words about Durham? I…
  • For the first two months on MFP, I cut back to maybe one glass of wine every other week at a social occasion. Now, as I am trained to log in all my calories and made my original goal, I have a glass or two every other day, which turns out not to be all that many calories. What was sabotaging me before were the salty things…
  • Amen, sister! I'm with you!!
  • I eat Lean Cuisine, the Healthy Choice Steamers, and Smart Ones about 5-6 times a week. I do have sodium on my food log, and so it is easy to tell if I am sticking to guidelines.
  • Hang in there! You are just at the beginning of training yourself, your brain, and your stomach for what your body is telling you it truly needs. I had to reread your post to make sure you were just talking about 300 calories and not 3000! 300 is not a very big fall off the wagon, for sure. You have a great attitude, and…
  • I agree with all the earlier posts and add one further potential point If you don't have that much to lose, you will not see a dramatic loss in the first weeks. It will be a slow and unsteady process, instead. I have almost two weeks go by with no change, and then I will have lost 1-2 pounds. It has taken me four months to…
  • I am 5' 8" and just changed my goal weight down to 145. After my kids were born and I was nursing, I hit a low weight of 119 and looked like I had been in a prison camp. Eventually I went back up to 135, whic h was a good weight for me. As I am 56 now, I think 140-145 would be ideal.
  • Prayers for all caring for ailing family members--lots of burdens being lovingly carried in this group. Wanted to report I have met my goal of 20 pounds and have decided to go for a few more. The problem will be that we are going on a lower Danube cruise 3 June, and it will be awfully hard to turn down so much delicious…
  • Way to go! You have challenged yourself, and you are a true winner!
  • One of my thrills in life pre MFP was getting a small peach milkshake at Chic-fil-A, without the whipped cream. For those who ever go there, they do have an awesome meal planner that will let you figure out your total nutrition and calorie count before you go so you can cut out things as you wish..…
  • If you are going to log in on MFP, you'll find that a number of the supermarket takeaways are in the system already. You will have lots of choices in soups and salads and grilled meats. My downfall is always hotel breakfasts,
  • Fantastic--congrats on your achievement. What a thrill! Had a similar thrill myself this week. Had ordered two skirts from Monsoon in the UK, size 14, which is a US 10-12. Finally tried them on this week as I wanted to wear one for a special reception, and they were too big! Have to have them taken in...
  • Good afternoon, ladies! How inspiring it is to hear how everyone has done so well with her goals with a few missteps, inspite of some serious life challenges. Prayers for everyone with health issues with family members, and may those dealing with the oil cleanup receive not only physical and financial help but wisdom for…
  • When I started MFP and this lifestyle change three months ago, I was really afraid that my sweet tooth would sabotage the whole process. I had been overdosing on M and Ms, plain and peanut. I made fudge and pralines at Christmas. Hot chocolate was the sign of the end of my day. However. learning about portion control and…
  • I love the way my husband tells me almost daily now that I look thin!
  • I have fluorescent lighs and bright light as triggers. Certain stores are problems for me when I am shopping, and I have had one come on while in church preaching, but the "good" thing is that I have the classic migraine aura of getting sig-zags in my eyesight, and if I take medication while I have the aura I am fine.…
  • IMHO, you should be fine. There is nothing magic about not eating after 6, For your schedule, it would seem that the important thing would be not eating or snacking between your sit-down meal and your bedtime, and then making sure that you start your day with breakfast and have healthy snacks and lunch during the day that…
  • When I am at home, about 200, but then I have to have fruit or an energy bar of around 100 cal later in the morning. When on the road, I do about 500-600, as I love getting omelets, bacon, and pineapple in hotel breakfast buffets. Alas, it means I have to cut back later or just know that I will be maintaining that day…
  • rfsahae--My son takes the bar in July in NY and is already planning his post-bar trip! Lots of student loans, but at least he knows he has a job post-bar. Congrats on your son's achievement!
  • Barb, golden retriever Scout ate a big plastic washer that had been part of a super-duper dog toy called a Busy Buddy that you put edible rings on. She had managed to unscrew it, and, once in her system, it began catching grass, plastic, and bits of foam out of stuffed toys. She is a giant garbage disposal and chews on…
  • A brief good day and checking in after a full, glorious and yet anxious week. Right as my mom, son, and daughter were flying in Thursday for my husband;s 60th birthday, our golden retriever puppy became seriously ill. The next afternoon she had emergency surgery, and we did not find out the outcome until we were all at the…
  • Jackie--hope your mum improves daily. I try to eat my exercise calories but don't always manage it. At least I check to see where I am at the end of the day and if I have not eaten at least 1200 calories (my suggested cals without exercise is 1350) I make sure to eat something. Have been watching my weight for two months…
  • In the US usually five days in the hospital, one to three weeks in a rehab facility, and then oupatient rehab for maybe another four week.
  • Just giving an update. I am a pastor, so this Easter one was a busy one, and I was afraid I would fall off the wagon, so to speak, but I was able to limit myself to an iced cookie, fruit, and oj at the Easter Egg Hunt and a biscuit, jelly, and fruit at the Easter breakfast. For Easterl lunch we went out to a restaurant…
  • Hi, everyone! I started my diet and exercise program early in February as part of a Lenten discipline. I had hoped to reach my goal by Easter, but alas, clearly being older makes the metabolism slower, so I am only halfway there. MFP has been a godsend for helping keep me accountable on calories and portion control, and…
  • Go and enjoy the fat-free beans, shredded chicken, and the low-carb tortillas! If you skip the cerveza, you can feel righteous but not left out. I would have to stay away from the chips if it were me, though. :)
  • Just downloaded the Bolt browser and put in myfitnesspal.com and successfully signed in. Thanks for the work-around till a BB app is made. Will be traveling on a river cruise in Europe, and I don't want to stop keeping track of my food and exercise.
