Then you should push yourself. Fat loss comes from these higher intensity types of workouts. Distance running is good to assess your endurance and burn some extra calories, but it isn't going to help you much with fat loss. It can also burn through some of your lean muscle as well.

Could be musclular, can also be the IT band. I have issues with both the IT band as well as my hip flexors when running. I began using a foam roller every day. I didn't do it for awhile, but man it really does help

Def eating healthy. Even though I was overweight my whole life, I dedicated a majority of my time to playing sports. I love working out and being an athlete, but I def go to town on some nachos, and wings, and beer (you get the picture) way too often.
