Mary-Welcome! I've only been on here for a short time but enjoy hearing from all the great people. Got home last night from a weekend at my daughter's. Went to help my granddaughter celebrate her birthday. Had a great time but not so good food wise. Birthday cake, ice cream, pizza (twice) and lots of fried food. My…

Check out thrift stores. Buy several in various sizes. They're usually cheap and you can always donate them back as you shrink.

weighing in a day early as I won't be able to tomorrow. Oct 1 - 147 Oct 8 -144 Oct 15-144 Oct 22-144

Saute it, add a low calorie barbeque sauce. Serve with cole slaw made with no fat mayo and fresh sliced tomatoes.

For those who don't like oatmeal there are ways to sneak it into your meals. I cook it, cool and then add to smoothies. Also add to meat when making patties, loaves, or meatballs. It is a healthy addition to desserts(cookies, cakes and toppings for fruit). You can put in the blender and blend until fine and add to many…

My closet has everything from size 6 to 14, all of which fit. Makes it difficult to order anything online unless its a brand you have bought before. I don't like it and wish there was some consistancy.

I have 2 pairs of the sketcher shape up's . I can't say that they do anything for toning but they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I can be on my feet all day and not have foot or leg fatigue. Glad to see others posts that the FitFlops are comfortable. I will be buying a pair soon.

I mixed these up and could tell by the mixture I had that they weren't going to be thick and chewy. Logged on to see if anyone had actually tried them and all the posts said they were really gross. I went back into the kitchen and dumped my mixture into the blender and started adding more oatmeal ( I used the raw oats not…

You didn't tell your age. When I was younger I could lose weight with very little effort. As I aged it has become more and more difficult. Sounds like you are very active and have a high metabolism making weight loss much easier.

Yeah! My little loss counter on my home page shows a 1 lb loss. I know that doesn't sound like much but that is from when I joined MFP in June. By the end of June I had lost my motivation and gained 5 lbs in July. So I'm about back where I started. Am determined to stay motivated this time to excerise and eat healthy. I…

It can be really discouraging when you are trying to do everything right and the scales don't show results. I think that is why people give up early but the important thing is keep trying. It may take more than a week for your body to adjust and begin to show a loss. As you go along you can try new things and see what…

Thanks, genealace for the comment. Drinking lots of water is also a challenge for me. Try to take some with me when ever I go out. I didn't mention that part of my motivation for keeping active and my weight down was a family history of diabeties. I have watched much of my family struggle with this disease and about 10…

I hope it's not too late to join in on this thread. I was looking for something with "mature" ladies that I could relate to. It appears I may be more "mature" than most here as I am 65. I retired at 62 to take care of my mother (she is 98). The first two years after retirement I lost 20 lbs. with very little effort. I…

Oct. 1 - 147 Oct. 8 - 144 Oct.15 - 144 Holding steady this week but that is what I expected. Hope to ease down this coming week.

I've been exercising and being below my calories for the past 1 1/2 weeks but today it all fell apart. No exercise and above my calories. Also didn't drink my water. Trying not to beat myself up about this and take a new day tomorrow.

I make a simple smoothie consisting of skim milk, nonfat plain yogart and whey protein powder. You can add a frozen banana, other frozen fruit, ground flaxseed meal, or small amount of peanut butter.

I found it helps if water is the only option available. At home I make sure there isn't any soda in the house. When I'm in my car I used to always have a can or bottle of soda in the cup holder now I put an insulated container of cold water there. If I get thirsty I take just a couple of sips. After a while I found myself…

I think the ultimate goal is always healthy. For the young they are probably more concerned with how they look. As we grow older the focus shifts somewhat (we still want to look good) to health. I have two granddaughters and I try to be very careful what I say around them as I don't like what young girls are often told…

I was pleased with the weight loss but I really goofed on the fitness part. I guess I only read the water part and completely missed the rest. So I focused on the water and did fairly well. Some days better than others. The week before this challenge I walked 2 miles every day but life happened this week and I was so busy…

I did great this week but know from past experience not to expect the same the 2nd week. I'm not sure how to post my results. Hope this works.

Try peeling the banana, cut in chunks, wrap and freeze. This makes the smoothie cold and thick, almost like an ice cream malt.

This sounds like a good reasonable challenge. Count me in.

I'm having a similar experience of staying on my calories and exercising at least 30min a day with weight gain instead of loss. Kind of getting discouraged.

There is no way you can make him healthy. That's his job. I cook healthy foods and don't buy junk food. He comes in the house with packages of cookies, ice cream, chips, etc. which he consumes for a snack after eating my healthy cooking. If I look in his pickup I find candy wrappers, empty donut boxes and soda cans. His…
