  • Wow, you look fantastic. And, I would KILL for your hair!!
  • Hey there!! First of all, I am definitely not an expert or pro in any way ( but thanks for your nice words :-) I dont really know what kind of core exercises I have been doing. I run 5 -6 miles twice a week and cycle 15 - 20 miles twice per week. I also have been working out with a trainer for the last 6 months and she has…
  • Wow, again thank to all for the kind words. As far as not looking 51 - check out the sun damage on my chest (eeeww - bad sun, bad sun!-) that comes from being a California girl. The lines on my face reflect my age, but I have earned everyone of them!!
  • Thanks everyone for your kind words. To Tamara and Tresa - we "vintage" ladies have to stick together. I wasn't sure how my body would react since I am over 50. I had a feeling that I would kind of snap back because I think alot of it is hereditary and my mom had 4 kids and never put on an ounce- she also never had loose…
  • So, one year ago today, I joined MFP. I had just turned 50 years old and was at least 30 pounds overweight. As others have stated something inside just snapped and I said "enough". I started walking 30 minutes per day, 5 days per week and figured as long as I did even just that- it was better than what I had been doing,…
  • Have you spoken with a sports doctor? As you said, you are not a 25 year old male ( Im 51 - so not calling YOU old - :blushing: ) and you have blood sugar issues. If you are going to exercise at that level and still have weight to lose you should probably get exact water/nutrient advice from an expert!!
  • Must agree. Just flew Delta for the first time from LA to Orlando. Nothing particularly terrible, but just not great service. Alot of airlines are stopping food service, free movies and all that. It is crazy how much you pay to fly and how little you get.
  • I was 38 ( almost 39) when I had my only child ( a boy). Had no problems getting pregnant or during the pregancy. He was born right on schedule @ 9 1/2 lbs. The only reason I wish I had been younger was so I could have had a second, but by the time I was ready to even start considering doing it again I was already 40 and…
  • Just got a new bike. My old (15 year+) Specialized Mountain Bike finally had enough. I wanted a road bike too as my mountain biking days are pretty much over. (Due to a slight mishap off a cliff a couple years ago and the fact that I cant bear to watch my 12 year old - he's getting too good and I start getting all mommy…
  • You are looking good!!!! Congrats
  • Yeah, riding can be very hard work, - but I have found that it usually gives you a big butt and legs:blushing: ( just kidding) - oh yeah and arms and shoulders like a truck driver!!

  • Well, I guess it's good that yours even tries. My husband is not one to take on any home improvement project. My job is to get bids from contractors and then run when he sees the bills!!!
  • We have owls that hoot and call to each other all night long. Now someone in the neighborhood thought it would be a good idea to get a peacock and it screams constantly night and day!!
  • I mix it up. I started by walking, but found that after awhile I couldnt walk fast enough to get my heart rate up. I kept adding steeper and longer hills, but while my legs would get tired. my heart rate wouldnt increase by much. I started jogging ( very slowly and smoothly) on the "flat parts" and slight downhills and…
  • Weekends are a great time to burn some extra calories in a fun way - then you can eat more!! For example, yesterday my family took our bikes down to the beach and road on the bike path for over two hours at an easy pace. I logged in 120 minutes on the slowest speed on MFP and earned an additional 750 calories for the day!…
  • There are tons of threads on here regarding this. try doing a search on plateau's and see what you find. Most people find that you have to change up your calories and exercise from time to time or your body gets used to what your doing and you stop losing weight. Very common.
  • I know how you feel. After 8 months of dedicated exercising I now feel very strange if I miss a day. Getting ready to go out now for a short 2 mile jog ( its only 8:15 and already really hot here!)

  • What stimulus check.......?
  • I told myself I would do the "What Not To Wear" thing when I met my goal ( going out and spending a ton on new clothes). Well, I've done it!! And it was fun. Lost a total of 34 pounds and 5 inches off almost everywhere. Had to replace everything as nothing fit except shoes. But you have to buy new shoes when you buy…
  • Oops - see above for back fat - love this one!!!
  • When you have to have links removed from your watch band because its too big!!!!
  • Congrats on the big Four - O!!!! You are doing great. Let us know when you hit the next milestone:drinker:
  • One thing you may want to try - it works great for me....!! I was (am) a huge steak eater too. Sorry to say, but I love it! When I started this website and logged in beef, the calories just floored me. So I started buying these wafer thin cut steaks at the market. They usually come two to a package and together weight…
  • I've read ( and noticed ) that you have to watch the amount of sugars in "fat free" products. They really pile it on!!!!
  • Yes, I am cold alot now. Also in Sunny California and my circulation is good. I also drink a ton of water. I was joking with my husband about it and said " It's because I dont have any body fat anymore". Not exactly true :blushing: but my body fat has been reduced tremendously. My sister ( a RN) said it probably was true…
  • Way to go - that is fantastic. Your hubby will be so proud!!
