  • The more I exercise the more I can eat! Funny though, when I am working out alot I lose the desire for bad/junk food. Also, I don't want to be unable to run around, ride horses, hike and bike when I'm 60 ( which is getting closer everyday). I am just back on MFP after a years absence since 10 lbs have crept on in the last 6…
  • Echo the everyone if different. My original goal was 140, then I adjusted to 135. I am also 5' 7". Final goal was based on what would be reasonable for me to maintain - cos whats the point if you have to starve or deprive yourself to stay at any give number. After I got got 135 I concentrated on gaining muscle. Stayed at…
  • Unbelieveable!!( no - wait it's totally believeable because YOU DID IT!!) Congrats!!
  • Running or cycling for at least one hour in hills ( more like 600+)
  • Maybe just try to exercise a couple of work days at first and then also on weekends. Dont overwhelm yourself. Maybe just walk half an hour on Tuesday and Thursday ( and also weekends) so its not too much at first. Once you realize you do have a little time and you enjoy it then you can add other days/more time. I wouldnt…
  • Hi all!! Replied to first post last week. I celebrated my 1st anniversary with MFP in September and has worked wonders for me - or maybe I was just ready. Have lost ( and kept off!) 39 pounds since I started in September '07. I am really thrilled to have made it through my 2nd holiday season without gaining anything. I hit…
  • Hey guys, Yes there are a few of us "classics" on here. I have been on MFP for over a year now and only check in once in awhile. This site really helped me in the beginning (tracking calories/exercise) after awhile you just kind of know how much you need to eat and/or exercise to stay on track. Don't let anyone tell you…
  • Way to go - you look fab!! I know what you mean about the "good" fat pics.
  • If you look at the exercise section here it gives different values for walking - at different speeds - uphill-downhill ect. I think it gives calories burned for 3.5 mph uphill.
  • I am also a both. I get up and run or bike around my neighborhood 4 or 5 times a week but also go to the gym 3 times a week. Never thought I would be consistent going to a gym but found one I love. Its a women only place and I find it very peaceful for some reason so I stay there much longer. The locker room and shower/spa…
  • Have a great time. .. that was my primary motivation to lose weight last fall. It worked great was able to lose 24 pounds before I left and came back and lost another 12 since. Where are you going?
  • I completely change my routes every month or two .I only run distance twice a week - one day I run more hills and the other I do more flat, but I keep changing where I go,not only to keep from getting bored, but to add different challenges.
  • Way to go...you are fab!!!
  • Thursday is a running day for me. We have had terrible fires here (Los Angeles) this week and the air quality is horrible. So I went to my gym and ran 5 miles on the treadmill- I hate running on the treadmill!! I find it very boring, no wind , no scenery and I am very clumsy and am sure I am going to fall any minute - but…
  • Riding does burn some calories, but not nearly as much as running or biking. There are a few things for riding on MFP - if you were to trot for 30 minutes straight (eek!) you would burn about 200 calories, but I sure cant trot for that long...........not these days anyway!! It does make your arms and legs strong but my…
  • I am going simple- wearing the blue dress on the left with a pair of horns. "Devil with a Blue Dress On"
  • Every trainer/fitness guru I've ever heard recommend bread at all (they usually prefer you stay away from it) recommend the Ezekial breads. Theres alot of junk in the low calorie/diet breads - you are better off with slightly higher calories and no chemicals. The only problem with the Ezekial is that since there are no…
  • Awwwwh-cute!! Glad she likes her big sis, Emiliy. But what does Emily think of the new arrival?- she doesnt look convinced in the one pic. I'm sure they will love each other.
  • I think both pics are great, and if you think the "after" pic is not one of your better ones then I may have to hate you (kidding) - you are gorgeous!!!! And I am jealous
  • Weight is on California licenses as well. That was a great mini-goal - the day I realized that I weighed less than what my license said!!!! ( weight was from over 20 years before)
  • My friends dog threw up on his shoes and he took it like a gentleman!
  • I live in an area where you run into "celebrities" ( whatever that means these days) and I am always struck by how tiny they are in person. You would think the opposite since the camera is supposed to add weight. Usually, I dont recognize them at first its more like "did I go to school with that person - I know them from…
  • Everyone is different due to body type and frame. I had always heard the rule of thumb was 5 pounds for every inch.
  • I would take a few special pieces to a good tailor and donate the rest. If you think that taking something down approx 2 sizes ( 8 to a large 4 or small 6) would work then they whould come out OK. I did that with several pairs of good work slacks that cost me too much money to just give away. If they need to come down more…
  • Keep trying! I have heard that the first (fat) on is the last (fat) off. True in my case. I am still trying to get rid of the remaining junk on my waist/gut. Trainer told me its a combination of loose skin from pregnancy and fat. May or may not come off no matter what due to age ( 51) and genetics. Soem people can easily…
  • Crap......I didn't want to hear that!!! I have developed a dentist/doctor phobia over the last few years and as part of my "makeover" I have just started forcing myself back to the dentist chair. I was thinking once I got my dental/bone loss problems resolved I would treat mtself to whitening.... but it hurts ???? I…
  • You must be flyin'high - you look fabulous!!!! Congrats
  • My original plan was to go on a major clothes shopping spree once I hit my goal and kept it off for several months. Instead I spent the money on a trainer - best money I could have ever spent!!! Even though I was pretty much at my goal weight the difference in shape and tone since I started going to her has been great.
  • 1. Don't consider myself on a diet 2. Drink lots of water 3. Do some kind of exercise/activity everyday
