  • I take it back. This time it caught my heart rate at the beginning of the work out and displayed it at the top of the screen...then it lost it as soon as I got moving. Reported my max as 83...not even close. Obviously it needs some work...
  • With me it is picking up my heart rate, because it tells me what my max was at the end of the workout. Pretty close to what my Polar said...but unfortunately it either doesn't (or I cant figure out how to get it to) show the heartrate through the whole workout...Searching the docs now...
  • There are quite a few UK folks on this site - I've got some of those folks across the pond as my friends to prove it :) You'll find them soon enough... Best of luck, Andre
  • How are your shoes? Have you been to a reputable running store to be fitted for running shoes? I used to be skeptical, but since I did finally made myself go (and found it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be), my knee issues (which were mild and not as severe as yours, to be fair) have not come back. Running in…
  • Nice work, Connie and GarlicGirl - Sorry I messed up the topic for this week, by the way :) Andre
  • 02/28/2012: 198.6 03/06/2012: 201.0 (+2.4) 03/13/2012: 199.2 (-1.8) 03/20/2012: 202.2 (+3) 03/27/2012: 200.6 (-1.6) I'm really sort of trying to figure out what my weight should be doing - I mean, I'm lifting weight, so I am trying to put on muscle, but I still have a little fat hanging around, so I'm trying to lose a bit…
  • Take a deep breath - you over indulged, but we all do that occasionally. As you surmised, you did not gain a full six pounds from one weekend. I would say just get back on plan for the week - eat the regular amount you've set up for yourself and get back into the routine. If you like, maybe throw in an extra workout or two…
  • 02/28/2012: 198.6 03/06/2012: 201.0 03/13/2012: 199.2 03/20/2012: 202.2 (3 lb gain) Well, up 3 pounds...partially attributed to starting my lifting regimen again (muscles retaining water), and partially to a couple of cookie binges in the last week. This week will be cleaner, hopefully we'll see that gain slow down a bit!…
  • Hi all, Lost most of that temp gain from last week - so technically down 1.8 lbs to 199.2. I'm starting back in on my lifting regimen today. 5 months to the reunion...It's ON!!! Andre Andy - Great work - you're speeding down the track!
  • Awesome Andy! As for me, up a couple pounds this week to 201.0. Not surprised since I ate pretty bad this last week and didn't find time to exercise. This week I need to make time to exercise and watch the food (and sodium!) intake. I'm hoping to get back to the weights tonight. Andre
  • I'm relatively new as well - I found this guide to be very helpful: http://www.acaloriecounter.com/building-muscle.php Andre
  • Starting Weight (6/15/2011): 260.5 lbs Current Goal Weight: Not really sure... Last Week's Weight: 202.5 lbs Today's Weight: 201.5 lbs Down another pound. Of course I only got half of my workouts in this last week due as a result of my show. This weekend I bought some 34" waist pants, which I thought would never happen…
  • I know BMI is a joke (especially for 6'4" me) Personally, I don't care about BMI - but my life insurance company does :) Just got myself re-weighed so I could get a lower premium...and now I can bulk without worrying about it.
  • Starting Weight (6/15/2011): 260.5 lbs Current Goal Weight: Not really sure... Last Week's Weight: 204 lbs Today's Weight: 202.5 lbs 1.5 pound loss this week. Not really sure if that's a good thing - I suppose it is, but I am trying to build muscle and eat at maintenance. Clearly I've got a little bit of adjusting to do,…
  • Hadn't thought about it much, but since I recently started lifting heavy, the rest periods between sets would be an excellent time to get some prayer time in and unite my suffering, however self imposed, to Christ. I think I'll start doing that.
  • I can't say anything - I've got my own stretch marks from my teenage growth spurts. I might have to check out that bio oil stuff... But, yeah, the last thing I notice about my wife are her stretch marks (or her C-section scars, gall bladder scars, etc, for that matter)
  • Emily - water is crucial. You can't transport the waste out of your body without it, and your body will hold on to water if it doesn't sense a good supply coming in. Here are some more good reasons: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tutorial_water.php Bottom line, you'll have an easier time of it if you keep the water intake…
  • Starting Weight (6/15/2011): 260.5 lbs Current Goal Weight: 205 lbs Last Week's Weight: 207 lbs Today's Weight: 204 lbs GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!! Well, sort of. Goal weight, not goal measurements/body fat. Weight training continues, though I will up my calories a little to maintain this weight…
  • So...is that like Jedi training? I'd like to get in on that!

  • Nice work, Andy! I miss archery...
  • Hey Emily, DOWN IS DOWN! Good job on the loss! Andre
  • xwllflwrx, congrats on making your goal for the month - you are doing wonderfully! Andre
  • Starting Weight (6/15/2011): 260.5 lbs Current Goal Weight: 205 lbs Last Week's Weight: 205.5 lbs Today's Weight: 207 lbs Up 1.5 today, and feeling like a yo-yo. But it's all good - long term trend is in the right direction. Loss for January still works out to 5 lbs (weighed in at 212 on Jan 3), and that's good solid…
  • Good work everyone! And everyone who didn't post today, We don't bite...I promise!
  • Alright, it's a good week so far! Starting Weight (6/15/2011): 260.5 lbs Current Goal Weight: 205 lbs Last Week's Weight: 208 lbs Today's Weight: 205.5 lbs Down 2.5 lbs today - On the honeymoon of my new workout program - I've started lifting weights 3-4 days a week, and added a lot of protein to my diet. But I'm still…
  • Andy! I missed you! It's good that you are owning the holiday weight gain - I am confident that you'll come back from this "break" and get going strong again!
  • Sounds like we all had a rough week, with the exception of you jtskinner! Good work! And SouthTownGirl - down is down, even with the down home cookin' As for the rest of us, hopefully we can make it work this week and get closer to our goals. As for myself, I'm putting together a new weight training regimen for myself to…
  • I kind of went the other way. I started at 260 lbs. At 6'4", with the upper end of my healthy BMI being 205, I said "there's no way! I'd look ridiculous!" So my initial goal was 220. After I got down to 220, I took a look in the mirror and thought "Gee, I really could still stand to lose ten pounds or so...", so I adjusted…
  • I'm up one pound from last week to 208 - I thought last week's loss was a bit drastic anyhow, and this week wasn't the best food-wise (celebrated last Tuesday and had too much football food Saturday). I pledge to make this week a better one! Andre
