Squats definitely work your core (stabilizer muscles). When you progress from bodyweight to weighted squats, you'll realize it even more. I notice a lot of core work particularly with front squats.

I aim for 130+ and have no problem with that, even without powder. Look at my diary. I'll hit 142 even without my post-weights protein supplement.

This makes no sense. If your maintenance is 2100, any calorie consumption under that amount would be in the "weight loss range." 1200 would be a really aggressive deficit.

None, especially not on a leg day. I do walk my dog though :)

Putting it in my calendar and hoping I can make it!

Only on MyFitnessPal have I seen people consider cleaning and food preparation to be "exercise."

I do virtually every day. I have a flexible work schedule so I'm usually gone 75-90 minutes. It's about a 10 minute walk to the gym, I get in a class or lift, take a quick shower (no time to wash my hair, though) and eat my lunch at my desk. When I have a client lunch or other conflict, I go before or after work, or make…

I've done both too. I'm without a doubt sorer after leg day. After my last ten mile run, I had literally no muscle soreness other tight hip flexors. I was definitely tired - depleted glycogen - but that's true after a heavy leg day too.

Nay. Big fat (no pun intended) nay.

See a doctor ASAP. My guess is that you'll be advised to carry an epi-pen. My son's allergy is pretty minor but I still have one with me constantly.

You're right.

First of all, you think you'll gain 100 pounds of muscle? Spoiler alert: you won't. Second, it's completely possible to quantify the number of calories you burn. Keep track of what you eat, including weighing/measuring food as appropriate. Keep track of your weight over a period of time. If your weight goes up, you are…

I'm a regular girl without a multi million dollar study on me. As you can see from my ticker below, I've lost more than 130 pounds. I lost this weight in 15 months, and I've been maintaining for ten months. The entire time I was losing weight, and while maintaining, weights have been my focus. I did cardio too, but I was…

Ahh, so this is why I am so fat and stupid!

Yep. When I make a recipe for dinner or whatever, which is basically every day, I'll create a recipe here and input my ingredients. For my homemade honey wheat bread, I just find someone else's homemade honey wheat in the database and log that.

There are no consequences. I'd never let MFP's really slow sugar limit restrict me from eating an apple :) (I changed my sugar limit manually, and I still exceed it whenever I eat a banana).

If I were buying equipment for home and couldn't afford a full power rack, this is what I'd buy. I enjoy working out with it at the gym, there are loads of exercises to do, and you can modify intensity easily.

My last 15 honestly took only a bit more time than every 15 before it. I slowed things down purposely during the end because I was training for a 10-mile race and needed more calories to do it, so decreased my deficit. My routine/diet were pretty much the same, aside from more running (and more eating). Part of it might be…

If you're willing to spend Athleta prices, they have lots of great stuff in talls. They go up to XL in shirts (16, I think, in bottoms), and they have a really great return policy. A friend of mine bought capris and they were too big a month later and Athleta sent her new ones :) Also, some of my Target and Old Navy tank…

I'M IN.

You listened to your body. You went over your arbitrary goal and didn't feel any guilt about it. These are all wins! But I wouldn't call it a cheat - how is feeding your body when it's hungry cheating on anything? It's not. Enjoy! Gotta disagree with you here. Pizza is still awesome. Greasy delivery, fancy homemade…

Anne, I am just so impressed. When I met you last October, I had a hard time believing you had lost more than 100 pounds. You just look like you're in the body you were meant to have. And then we both ran ten miles :) You're awesome. Congrats, you inspire me daily!

I have an love the Fitbit Ultra (older version of the One). If I were buying one today, I might be swayed by the Zip. I don't ever use the sleep function, and the stairs doesn't matter much to me. I find it to be an EXCELLENT device for encouraging me to move a bit more in my day to day life. I can't tell you how often my…

Congrats, and fantastic story!

What makes you think there aren't significant metabolic changes that come about from WLS?
-
5-6 hours a week. 3 hours of weight lifting (MWF, mostly, full body free weights/compound/heavy) 2 hours of cardio (anything from group classes to elliptical to running, usually one HIIT session a week) On weekends I sometimes did yoga, went on a run, but rarely anything more structured. I added activity in all areas of my…

I always consider my protein goal (130g) and fat goal (68g) to be minimums, not max - I don't hesitate to go over that at all. My weeks usually shake out to be 30/30/40 (fat is my favorite macro obviously!).

Perhaps you should attend some group fitness classes. Hip thrusts occasionally take place. Or maybe you should get a dog? They're excellent exercise companions. Then after you workout, eat those exercise calories

This is incredible. THANK YOU! Tagging so I never lose the link.

You can go as simply as mashed avocado with lime juice and salt to taste. This is often how I make if all I have is avocado and lime. I prefer it with some finely diced onion, tomato, and jalapeno topped with cilantro but I like almost all guacamole. Unless it's made with one of those seasoning packets; then it's not so…
