2 years of maintenance - 130+ pounds lost
Two years ago yesterday, I woke up and stepped on the scale and saw it. After 15 months of work (and, yes, fun), I was at my goal weight. I had lost more than 130 pounds. It was a big day. I shared this before and after collage back then: Interestingly, last night on Facebook I saw a post by Go Kaleo that said, of…

15 months, 134 pounds lost - at GOAL! (pics included)
The first thing I want to do is thank my MFP friends. I swear, I have the most amazing cheering squad and I could not have done it without them. In early June of 2011, this photo of me was taken: The next week, I joined a gym and on June 16, 2011, I joined MFP. In the 15 months that have passed since then, I've lost 134…

1000 days, 130+ pounds lost (w/ too many pics!)
I'm sorry in advance because this is (as always...) longer than I anticipated. But writing and sharing on these milestones helps me so much, to assess where I've been and where I want to be. I also know how much reading these helped me during those first, especially difficult months. So thanks for humoring me :) In June of…

100 pounds lost, 15 pounds gained
As of Saturday, I've lost 100 pounds! This was especially awesome because it was my son's second birthday. He, on the other hand, has gained 15 pounds between these pictures. Watch him grow, watch me shrink :) That current picture was taken before my first race, a 7k. Yep, I ran the whole thing :)

2 yrs of MFP - 130+ lost, 9 months maintaining (with pics)
I read something on Nerd Fitness awhile ago: "Quietly and consistently work towards building a better you." That describes my story in a nutshell. Unfortunately for you, I'm no good at telling short stories that would fit into a nutshell, so cozy in for a novel or skip down for pictures. You know that rock bottom that…

Mother's Day, 133 pounds difference
I've been in maintenance mode for 9 months now and - I hate to admit it - some of the novelty wears off. I don't get the "omg, you look great!" comments from friends who haven't seen me in awhile anymore, because, well, they've all seen me. The bliss of being able to shop anywhere, of buying size small shirts, of never…

Recommend a door-frame pull up bar?
I'd like to purchase a pull-up bar for my door frame at home. Anyone have one you like? I'd especially like a pressure-mounted one that didn't require me to screw it in, but I have a hard time believing they work. Thanks in advance :)

One Year, 120 Pounds Lost (with pics)
Today I woke up to this: ShannonMpls has logged in for 365 days in a row! On June 16, 2011, I signed up for MFP and printed this off and pinned it up in my office at work: During that first month, I lost weight very slowly. Others were dropping 5-7 pounds the first week; I lost a half pound. It was frustrating. But when I…

Driver's License Photo, Then & Now
I went to get my driver's license renewed, and handed my old one to the DMV lady who looked at me, looked at the license, then did a double-take. "Wow. What a difference!" I didn't think all that much of it until I got my new license in the mail. Umm, yeah. Guess losing 135 pounds makes a bit of a difference ;) (for more…

Running and knee pain - when and how to start back up?
A week and a half ago, I set out on a 6 mile run. Around two miles in, I sidestepped something on the trail, felt a bit of overextension in my knees, and a few strides later pain set into both knees, worse in one than the other. The pain is in the front, sort of over and below my kneecap. I slowed to a walk for about a 1/4…

Made it under 200 :)
You tall ladies will understand better than anyone else. As of this morning, I weigh 198.5. When I started this whole process, getting below 200 was my biggest goal, the thing I wanted more than anything else. I've said hello and goodbye to the entire 200s. I'm so excited to have made it! I feel like a lot of self-imposed…

photographic proof of 93 pounds lost
I'm not "done" yet but couldn't resist posting this quick comparison shot. Unfortunately, the current shot doesn't include a cute kid + goat. That's all, carry on :) ETA: In case people are wondering: I'm 5'10". I've lost 94.5 pounds since June 16. I exercise 5-6 hours a week, including three hours of strength training;…

80+ pounds lost - with a couple pics
I will post with better pics once I reach my goal weight, but for now - I'm glad to say I'm 83 pounds down since I joined MFP! I have about 20 pounds minimum that I still want to lose. (I'm 5'10" in case anyone cares) It's amazing what a change you can make eating healthy foods and paying attention to what goes in your…

Increasing calories? fast loss, lightheadness, input?
I had a session with my trainer today and ended up very lightheaded and had to sit down for a few minutes - this happened to me a few times last week also. This came after my trainer and I were discussing increasing my calories after the first of the year to slow down weight loss a bit and also focus on feeding my…

Thai curry - under 350 calories per serving!
I love Thai curries - here is a version that is MUCH lower in calories than take-out. And honestly, if you use a good curry paste, it's almost as good. Now, regarding the curry paste: the Thai Kitchen stuff is pretty awful. Our regular stores often have the Maesri brand, and it's the kind I buy at the Asian grocery too. It…

British Curry (crockpot recipe)
Note before proceeding: please do not school me on curry; I know what a curry is and I do a lot of Indian cooking. This is based on Julia Child's British Curry recipe, so that's what I'm calling it :) In my house, it's lick-your-bowl-clean, have-it-for-breakfast good. Nutrition information if made as indicated below: 330…

100 days later...
Today is my 100th day of MFP. And this is how my life has changed since mid June: I've lost 36 pounds! I've never once felt like I was on a diet. A coworker recently said, "your diet is going so well! you look great!" and my immediate mental response was, "what diet? I'm not on a diet." I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I…
