Is this for the standard reconditioned? I got one right before Christmas; it's a 5200. It looks completely brand-new and has a five-year warranty. I absolutely love it! I've used it for smoothies, soup (yes, it does heat the soup to steaming if you run it 5 minutes or so), horchata, and nut butters. I don't think I'll buy…

This exactly. My plan is to eat at a deficit on workdays, and eat without logging on weekends - I'd venture those are always at a surplus. Since it's my plan, weekend indulgences are not a cheat. They are just...eating. This is how I've been maintaining for two years.

Add in negatives and, if you can, ditch the machine for band-assisted pull ups instead. I've made more progress in two months with these exercises than years with the pull up machine. That nerdfitness article is primo advice too.

Sorry, I'm going to be annoying again: First, did you replace the batteries in both the watch and the chest transmitter? Second, did you wash the chest strap well? Mine was behaving similarly to yours - either it said my HR was really high, or 00, or it couldn't find it at all. Once I did both those things above (including…

Exactly. I've said this many times. Motivation is fleeting. Willpower runs dry. Habits are what sustain us. I log my food most days because that is what I do. I pack my lunches because that is what I do. I workout because that is what I do (bonus: I like it 98% of the time). Build strong habits and you can fall back on…

Conniebug, you remind me so much of me. When I started here, I didn't expect to succeed. I weighed more than 300 pounds and I had no expectation that I was going to lose a lot of weight. I expected to play around for a bit, then eat a full bag of cheetos, wallow in misery for a few days about how much I sucked, then go…

Oh, I see - I didn't realize you had WLS. Do you enjoy your workouts, even the time on the elliptical? Do you have time in your day to devote to this much exercise? If you can't answer an honest yes to these questions, I would definitely back off. That doesn't necessarily mean another rest day, but maybe dropping the…

Disconnect on MyFitnessPal. Then go to Fitbit.com, log in to the dashboard, and choose applications under settings. Revoke access for MFP. Return to MFP, reconnect. That always seems to fix my problems with the two failing to sync. Sometimes just connecting/reconnecting on MFP does the job, but not always.

You did not gain 2.2 pounds of muscle in one month eating 800-1200 calories a day. And weight loss IS happening. You lost 10.5 pounds in one month. Bottom line, you're doing a lot of activity. If you were eating enough to sustain it, I'd say no, you're not exercising too much. But I can't fathom how you can work out 90+…

Than at 107? Two pounds?

You'll be fine if you do. You could also drop your calories 100-200 to compensate, but I wouldn't.

The biggest lesson I've learned about maintenance is that it's not about maintaining one precise weight. It's about maintaining the habits and lifestyle that sustain that weight. All I need to do to reaffirm this is look at my friends who are, and have always been, a healthy weight. They don't freak out if they miss a…

I really want to echo this. I started at more than 300 pounds (5'11"). I thought I'd try to lose 20 pounds, because even that would be better than where I started. Does the fact that I didn't start this process with the intention of reaching a healthy weight mean I wasn't dedicated, was only willing to go half-way? No -…

Good for you! I'm glad to see you back, friend :)

Eat a reasonable amount of calories during your meals, add a couple snacks, and your need to "binge" will lessen dramatically. You had only eaten 190 calories for your meals! I don't know what your calorie goal is, but aim to spread the calories out among actual meals. Throw in a couple snacks and treats.

You're awesome, plain and simple. You look great, you look happy, and a person who goes to a Doctor Who and cat conventions is the best kind of person. Keep on keepin' on.

It's totally fine. Just go back to your regular routine when you return. Try to do walking and stay generally active if you're concerned. If you really want to get a workout in, can you do a DVD or use youtube videos wherever you're going? Hotel gym possibly? You won't gain weight unless you eat over your maintenance. And…

MLM doesn't mean what you think it means. That aside: yes, it is expensive for what you get. I enjoy getting it every other week, as it's a convenient and fun treat to have in the office for when I want a snack. Nature Box is good too, but I have an uncanny ability to eat an entire bag of Nature Box goodies and like the…

That's the unfortunate necessity of losing weight! That said, I got a lot smarter about *what* I ate when I was losing (I'm maintaining now). It is amazing the huge plate of food you can have for 400 calories when it's primarily protein and vegetables. I kind of viewed my calorie goal for the day as my checking account.…

I'm always a little surprised at how many posters on this forum tell others to ignore a doctor's advice to his or her patient. For some people, known as "responders" or "hyper-responders," dietary cholesterol does have an impact on blood cholesterol. Evidence ("Male hyporesponders did not experience an increase in LDL…

I stick with the same habits I used to lose weight. - I did not go off a diet, because I never went on a diet. - I continue to log most of the time - I indulge some of the time - I pre-plan and pre-pack my food for every week day - I cook - I exercise I try to live the healthiest life I can enjoy. That means that I eat…

I don't like spaghetti squash as a spaghetti substitute, but I really enjoy it tossed with olive oil, parmesan, and sauce as a side dish. Of the other squashes, butternut is the easiest to work with, in my opinion - it's simple to peel with a potato peeler, and relatively easy to cube. I attempted to cube acorn squash this…

Genius. Do you just grate the ginger and add it to butter as it melts?

To answer your question about cast iron: I cook most of the time with regular or enameled cast iron. If I am searing meat and do not plan to deglaze, I use the naked cast iron. These are inexpensive pans by Lodge that you purchase pre-seasoned. They worked from day one and have only gotten better with use. I absolutely can…

Your smugness. Example one: (sidenote: I successfully sear meat regularly with a tablespoon of butter or oil. Call Hogwart's, for I am performing magic.)

Oh, I agree, it's a lot easier to scan a label. And sure, those Lean Cuisines may help you lose weight. But I guess the weight loss phase wasn't really that important to me. What was important to me was learning to live my life in a healthier way so that I could *maintain* my weight loss. For me, that meant continuing my…

Roasted. Peel, slice, add a little olive oil and salt (or not) and roast in the oven at 425 until perfection. Tomorrow night for dinner is a roasted beet salad with smoked chicken and blue cheese, dressed with a roasted beet vinaigrette (PM if you want the recipe). THE BEST.

I continue doing what worked for me during maintenance. 1) Planning. Every Saturday or Sunday, my husband sit down and plan out our menu for the week. We go shopping. I create the recipes in MFP. We decide what meal we're eating when (this lets me balance macronutrients - carb-heavy meals will be followed by a lower carb…

You guys, this recipe is unbelievable: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2014/09/pressure-cooker-butternut-squash-risotto-sage-brown-butter-quick-easy-recipe.html It made 8 nice side-dish sized servings - 384 calories per serving per my recipe here. SO GOOD.

The best advice I've heard is to make your goal weight the high end of healthy on a BMI scale, then re-evaluate. For you, you don't have far to go - 140 is a healthy BMI at your height. Since you stay you've never been happy with your body, I have a question. Do you exercise? If not, I would highly recommend you start.…
