I make a sweet and sour tofu stir fry. Tofu, lots of veggies, sauce (1/4c catsup, 1/4c pineapple juice, 1/4c rice vinegar). The sauce isn't exactly health food, but if you pour it over enough veggies it works out.

Community Supported Agriculture. Basically you buy a share of the farmed goods up front to share the risk/benefits with the farmers and get a weekly share. We pick ours up from the farmers market once a week. So far we have gotten corn, peppers, bak choy, napa cabbage, lettuce, radishes, turnips, kale, swiss chard,…

I did the same thing with ours earlier in the season! I cut back on the EVOO and yum!

If you aren't really ready to change than you can't. I tried for a long time and never managed to change. What has helped me more than anything is not having it in the house. Sounds simple but it took me a long time to stop buying things I knew I didn't want to eat. I don't but any chips or processed snacks any more. I do…

When I did c25k I was running about a 9:50 minute mile (outside). I finished the program in June and ran my first 5k in 24:10. My training runs are now at 8:50-9:30 minute miles.

I go to spinning once a week and love it! The instructor/music makes a huge difference IMHO. It does take several months to really get your body used to it, but in terms of a group cardio class I think it's great! I'm not super coordinated and so I'm a bit turned off by cardio dance/zumba type classes.

Agreed about the processed meats.... I'd add lentils/beans (dried) or no salt added canned beans, I make big batches of dried and freeze left overs. I also use frozen fuit (just plain fruit) for smoothies several days/week so I'd add that. And my Ezikel bread, couldn't live without that ;) Also, other whole grains...…

Agreed! I ate 1200 for a while, then 1400 for a couple weeks, I'm trying to stick to around 1500 now.
-
I started c25k in April. I've run in 2 5ks now and have a 10k on the 20th of the month. I'm addicted :)

I wear tiny tight running shorts and a sports bra. People of all shapes and sizes are wearing very little clothing so I never feel too selfconcious.

I've been going to bikram for about 3 months now. I looooove it! I do find parts of it gimicky and Mr. Bikram is a a marketing genius which makes it hard for me to get 100% behind every little trademarked part of the practice... but it's a great workout, I like the routine and love the heat!

I went to a 90 min yoga class on yogax days. I HATE HATE HATED tony's "yoga" but love almost any other form.
-
Carrots and cashew butter is my very favorite!
-
Love: Running outside, roller blading, spinning, bikram Like: Jillian videos, circuits at the gym Hate: Cardio at the gym (treadmill, elleptical)
-
How about switching up the running with weights, roller blading, biking, or even doing jog/sprint intervals?
-
My veggies today: 1 serving okra, 1 serving raw carrots, 1 serving snap peas. (And a stalk of celery and spinach in my egg salad sanwhich ;) )
-
I LOOOOOVE oatmeal... and was a former instant packet person myself. My standards: oatmeal, chopped steamed apples, cinnamon oatmeal, nut butter, sliced banana oatmeal, blueberries, sliced almonds oatmeal, dried cherries

Berries, other fruit, cucumbers, carrots, onions, bell pepper, spinach, snap peas, whatever else I need to cook that week (I meal plan). Plain soy or plain almond milk. Lentils (red and green), dry beans, brown rice, quinoa, couscous, whole wheat pasta, canned chick peas, tofu, tempeh, hummus, frozen edamame, eggs, cottage…

What are you eating with all the fat? What is your calorie goal? What is your fat goal? I use the preset MFP guidelines and rarely go over on fat.
-
I'm in the calorie is a calorie no matter what time you eat it camp. I work evenings and like to have a snack when I get home. I try to keep it light and make decent choices but I can't worry about the clock too much.

Agreed about adding frush fruit to yogurt. You'll get used to it quickly and eventually think it is much better and more filling than the premixed stuff.
-
10k run and yoga meltdown level 1 I love reading what everyone else did! Great thread!
-
the skinny taste chocolate chip zucchini bread is SO GOOD!
-
Agreed. I'm 115 pounds and burn about 375 calories in 45 min on the elleptical per my HRM.

Are you sure you're really hungry? Are you hydrated? I got myself in the habit of snacking at work and thought I was just extra hungry in the evenings. I started packing less to bring to work, having a solid lunch and then a 3-4pm snack and I'm amazed that I'm not actually hungry. I was just getting bored and had trained…

I'd be careful not to over do it on the fake meats in the beginning (or ever). Tofu is one thing, but all the fake sausages/burgers/chicken can get to be really processed and high in sodium. Thing's I've learned to love as "meat" - tofu, tempeh, edamame, chick peas, beans, lentils.

They actually look at your feet, arches, pronation etc and help you pick the right shoe for your foot and how you run. Also, do you follow a training program at all? Starting really slow and working my way up has helped my body so much. I did c25k, then started adding .5mi/week.

I had horrible shin splints all my life... until I started running, go figure! I credit this to several things. 1. Good shoes, I went to a running store, had a gait evaluation and bought $90 shoes 2. Working on calf and shin muscle strength. I put a stability ball against the wall and lay on my back, I do "gas" pedal…

You can't change for him, he can decide to try to like them... or not.
