I dropped the Maths recently! I missed so many lessons due to my migraines and I can't concentrate at the best of times. I already have an A Level in Human Biology and a Certificate of Higher Education in Natural Sciences (and Maths) so Biology isn't a chore  I enjoy learning. It's all I've got left to enjoy seeing…

The only thing I'm reading at the moment is Advanced Biology. Exam time :grumble: But if I get some time to myself to relax once they're over, I'll carry on reading Nature's Building Blocks (a book about the elements) and for a less scientific read, The Pagan Christ by Tom Harpur.

I like to "own" things so I'm not sure I'd get on well with the Kindle. I also don't think it should cost £8 odd etc for a Kindle book or £10 odd for the actual book. I'd rather have the actual book and then have it posted to me. I feel like I'm getting more for my monies then lol Also, when I go on holiday, I tend to "do"…

I was a postie and although never skinny, I didn't have much trouble keeping the weight off. Then I woke up one morning in July 2010 with a crippling headache and after 18 months of tests, neurology appointments, losing my job etc I was diagnosed with chronic migraines. In between all this, I got engaged. Unfortunately,…

I was providing the first aid cover with St John Ambulance for the Dawn Walk (a sponsored 9km walk which starts at dawn for the local hospice) a few years back, and was using the light on my phone as a torch. I then had a mega panic thinking I'd lost my phone because I couldn't find it in my pocket when it was in my…

Falifax as I used to call it when I lived in Bratfudd (in the same building as the Crossbow Cannibal) for a few years :)

I can fully empathise with you. I used to be a postie and in 2008 I slipped on someone's path (because Royal Mail shoes are cr*p) and landed like a sack of spuds on my left hand side. I'm only 30 now, but I still have problems with my left hip getting sore if I walk long distances, and I needed physio after the fall…

I'm on Microgynon 30, but I still get spots. I have reasonably oily skin though anyway. I may have to come off it to see if it eases my migraines though :-/

I'll only upload pics of my current pets otherwise I'd need my own thread lol Hermione (She's a Cats Protection-who I volunteer with- rescue cat, mother was a semi feral siamese, and she had 3 brothers called Harry, Ron and Neville...) B.B. (Big B*lls-Another CP cat) Toffee (An RSPCA cat, previously called Trixie...!) And…

Considering they do recommend that you move away from your desk every 30 minutes or so to allow your eyes to adjust from your computer screen, your circulation to flow etc, I don't think going and doing a little exercise is such a bad idea and so sniping that they should be working whilst at work is a little below the belt.

I don't take any fat soluble vitamins such as A, D, E or K. I only take anything my body can get rid of easily in urine and doesn't store in fat such as B, C and minerals.

I found this article interesting about water http://calorielab.com/news/2006/05/28/8-glasses-of-water-a-diet-urban-legend/

I don't think it's a problem. As long as you're drinking enough water, don't force yourself to eat just because you think you should be consuming more calories. Just because MFP says you should be having X amount, if your body says it doesn't need or want it, don't force it to have it.

I use 10kg (22lbs ish) on the machines in the gym, but only 2kgs (2.4lbs ish) when lifting because I do them at the end and my arms are knackered :D

I've not read all 11 pages... I'm not a teacher, but when I see parents complaining about how they can't wait for the holidays to end and their kids to go back to school then I think "And you've got the cheek to moan about the teachers when your little "angel" drives you up the wall after a week?!". The teacher has to deal…

It could be the rise in body temperature, could be the salt in the sweat or it could be the nerves around the expanding capillaries in the face sending back false messages to the brain telling it that your face is itchy.

Guava is meant to be the "best" fruit nutrition wise...

I agree, even just making a small change can make a huge difference and then when you see that difference it really spurs you on. It's not a race, or a competition. Just make a small change so that you're not feeling deprived, but your calorie intake is being decreased and then see how you get on.

I think it's because of the type of sugar that's in them...

I used to do Slimming World, but I found it demoralising when I was following the plan and only losing 1/2, putting on, maintaining, losing 1lb etc and others (who, admittedly, were a lot bigger than me) were losing 5lbs a week and eating more crap than me and loving it. I wasn't eating unhealthily before though, and for…

If you've cut out caffeine then that can cause MAJOR caffeine withdrawal headaches. When I cut out caffeine from my diet in 2005, I had bad headaches for weeks and I couldn't figure out why and then I realised. They eased off and I felt much better for no caffeine afterwards. I'd suggest making sure you're drinking enough…

This should be rephrased as "Best Chinese takeaway that most takeaways will have" as most of these suggestions aren't available in any Chinese restaurant I've ever been in lol But according to this I saw on MiniMins ages ago.... Danger Zone – 5 Worst Chinese Menu Items Orange Beef: 1,770 calories and 66g fat! Kung Pao…

If you consume 3000 calories worth of anything but only work off 2000 calories worth then yes, you're going to get fat, regardless of what it is you're eating. However, it's harder to get fat on fruit and veg because of the way they make you feel full when you do eat them. It would therefore be a lot harder to consume 3000…

I messaged my friend in America and she assures me that the Hostess shop (after some confusion about it being chocolate with cream in the middle...) will probably still be open in October. If not, she'll get me some in :D

I'm in the UK and I've got a box of Twinkies in the cupboard! Well, there's 2 left and they've been there since July last year... but I'm guessing with the amount of cr*p in them they'll probably still be OK to eat lol They can't get rid of Twinkies etc :( I'm visiting the US in October and I was looking forward to trying…

I used to be on Loestrin 30, then went onto Depo Provera injection (gained a little weight, periods stopped-yay!- but coming off it was a nightmare!!! NOT recommended) and now on Microgynon 30. I suffer from chronic migraines anyway so I wouldn't really notice if I got headaches, but I don't recall getting headaches from…

I would suggest the Drs first of all if you've not changed anything and it's worrying you. The added worry of hair loss may cause the condition to worsen ironically. The only time I've had this problem is with a change of medication, and also hair loss is more common in the autumn months. I've found since upping my vitamin…

Because I only want to use it to keep track of my calories, not so much a food diary to see where I'm going wrong etc. Whilst I am watching what I eat, I'm not doing it fastidiously and some days I don't fill in my diary at all. Some days I'll only fill in one meal, just out of interest to see how many calories it was.
