  • I just finished participating in a research experiment about how many calories we burn etc. at App State's exercise science dept...what the person in charge of the experiment told was that calories burned come from different sources: carb stores in your body, then fat, then muscle, used up in this order. When we start to…
  • A couple of years ago, I dropped 25 lbs from 150 to 125, dropped from a size 12 to a size 4-6, and I couldn't tell the difference! Only when I gained it back I felt the difference...so here I am again, lost about 6 lbs in one month, and like you, see no difference. I won't stop until I reach 125lbs and this time,…
  • I would do lightly active...good luck!
  • Hi! I also needed to loose 20 lbs and have about 12 lbs more to go... this is a great site, I hope it helps you as much as it has me! Welcome!
  • Yes!! I notice when I eat something really high in sodium, I retain more water and the scale goes up. So frustrating! I added the sodium content to my list to keep an eye on how much I am consuming...
  • My sister went on this diet in conjunction with the b12 shots and she dropped 75 lbs in 6 months (she couldn't stick to the 500 daily calories deal.) Expensive weekly doctor visits, etc. It has been one year and she has gained it all back and then some...One of the co-workers that went on the diet with her just passed…
  • Congrats on your new journey! Kashi Go Lean has tons of fiber, protein and is tasty. You need both soluble and insoluble fiber, which most supplements don't have. The cereal has it and you should eat plenty of beans, fruits, and veggies to get the rest. I have been on this site for almost two years and have been able to…
  • That sounds sooo good! Thanks for the recipe....
  • I just had sugar free jello and three tbsps lite whipped toppint. I know it's processed but I had to have something sweet. It was sooo good and now I am full and satisfied!!
  • I will try that tomorrow for dinner, sounds yummy!
  • You should really think about making sure you are eating breakfast; it wakes up your metabolism and helps you burn more throughout the day. This will also help you meet your calorie goals. If you don't eat enough, you won't loose as much or as quickly because your body will want to hold on to the fat you have (starvation…
  • Tried them all with no results, just a bunch of hype for a diet pill that does nothing. I have had good reults with drinking green tea though, which I just buy at the grocery store. I have read some good reports from Life Extension that green tea does aid in weight loss....
  • Hi and welcome to MFP! I found that when I ate less than the 1200 calories, especially working out daily, my weight loss decreased or stopped. Don't be discouraged, you are just not eating enough!! Remember food is not the enemy and learning balance is the key. I fell off the wagon for five months and gained back around…
  • One day I weighed 144.5 and the next day I was at 132. Remember that weight goes up and down. The most accurate way to measure is to weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after you go to the bathroom and before you eat/drink anything. I keep my scale in the bathroom so in the morning, before I jump in the shower, I…
  • 18lbs is great! Try being hypothiroid and only be able to loose about 1/2 lb per week despite the fact that you are working your butt off and are staying within your calorie goals. However, if that is the only way for me, so be it. Everyone is different and loose weight differently. Keep at it! Eventually, the fat in your…
  • If you are a vegetarian, the best thing to do is to get your iron levels tested to see if you need supplimentation. Not having enough iron is also bad for you...Good Luck!
  • You are so right! Thanks for the reminder. Also, some other things that helped me were tracking my protein and fiber intake as well. I lost more weight when I started to take in around 30g of fiber daily. Fiber One bars and Kashi Go Lean cereal make reaching that goal easier. If you do that though, make sure you are…
  • That is some good info. I always thought that even though I was "counting calories" I would never really be 100% accurate due to so many different variables. This is why I stay away from fast food restaurants and regular restaurants for that matter as much as possible (eat out a total of maybe 2-3x monthly.) Even with the…
  • I make mine with ground soy meat to make it low fat, put in a bunch of tomatoes, taco seasoning, onions, cilantro, pinto beans and other seasonings. It is good for you and it's low fat and lower in calories than other recipes.... good luck!
  • Juice has tons of sugar in it, which is why I drink hot tea now and water. Also, the calories I blow on a glass of OJ or other juice don't help me when I'm trying to stay within a normal range. I will eat an orange, which has less sugar than a glass of orange juice and take a vitamin supplement daily. Also, kiwi fruit has…
  • Don't give up! I found that eating all the foods I love in moderation (not all at once:wink: ) has really helped. Plus, when I gain like I did over the last month, I know I can just focus for a couple of weeks and loose it. It is better to loose 4 lbs than to gain it all back and feel just as bad as I did when I…
  • Thanks! That sounds like great advice!
  • I have the same exact weight goal you have and am also 5'4"--It sounds like you may not be eating enough calories. Try upping your intake for a couple of weeks to see if you start loosing again. I am at 123 now and what seemed to help me was taking liquid B12. Good luck!:flowerforyou:
  • Welcome to MFP! This site made the difference in my success. The best thing I can tell you is to stick to it, even if you fail from time to time. You WILL loose the weight!!!!:flowerforyou:
  • While I do enjoy working out, the actual 20 minutes that it takes me to get to the gym is enough to get me unmotivated. I have struggled as well and here are some things that really made a difference for me this year: 1. MFP-Invaluable!!!:flowerforyou:  2.My Ipod-I have a bunch of positive affirmations and uplifting…
  • I have been going through the same thing! Get your thyroid tested. I found out my thyroid was really low. It is a simple blood test. Also, make sure you are taking the FULL B complex vitamins which should help your hair. The ones strictly for energy I found out are not complete. Also, make sure you are taking a fish oil…
  • 30 grams of fiber daily and your colon will be clean. Plus, it will help you loose weight!!!
  • BOA should be sued. Their customer service is the worst. I had all of my accounts with them including my mortgage which I paid on time until I sold the house and they were terrible accross the board. As soon as I could, I closed all of my accounts with them. Good riddance!!!:grumble:
  • Whenever I know I'm going out and having a couple of drinks and I just know I'm going to get fries, etc. I just get on the eliptical for one hour (600 cals) earlier that day and then another hour the next day. I go out once or twice per month and haven't gained.
  • That sounds about right. You want to loose about 1 lb per week....
