  • I'm not because our state doesn't list your weight on you license. Bonus!
  • Nickelback, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Daughtry, Staind, and Motley Crue. I also like Rihanna, Pink, and Katy Perry.
  • With both my girls, I didn't work out because I was so tired. I went for short walks and that helped. Wait until you get out of your 1st trimester. Things get a lot better. Watermelon and peeled apples for the morning sickness. My midwife swears by them and so does everybody I have recommened it to in the past:)
  • Hi Karen. I'm from Michigan too. I live in Chesterfield (on Lake St. Clair), but we have a cabin in Mio. Glad to see you and hope you enjoy MFP.
  • When breastfeeding you need 1800-2200 calories a day to keep your supply. I've read other post and a lot of moms say the MFP doesn't calulate enough calories for breastfeeding. I know when I was nursing, I couldn't get past the 149 mark and when I stopped it seemed to fall off over night. Maybe you have hit your minimum to…
  • If you doctor makes you feel bad, you need to switch doctors. Don't let him get you down. You are seeing results and that is all that matters.
  • That is wonderful!!! Keep it up and thanks for sharing your great story!
  • I have a lot of the same struggles. The only thing that seems to work for me is to keep a glass of water in my hands so I don't keep eating. I'm always open for a friend add.
  • First thing in the morning bceause it gives me the energy I need to get through the day. Not to mention, it's a postive start which helps to keep me on track. I also work out in the evening, but often find that I have a hard time falling asleeping because I'm so wired!
  • Well said! I always tell my kids to treat your friends they way you want to be treated...we need to build each other up, not break each other down!

  • There is this great book called Marathon by Jeff Galloway. It breaks down how to run and how to work through problems. He also has one that is just for women. Good Luck!
  • I haven't tried them, but they are intended to correct posture, which then helps to make your core stronger. Many ortho's have sold similar shoes for years.
  • There is a couple different races that day. The Detroit-Windsor is a 26 mile run, but they also have a 13mile, 13 mile walk, and relay run. My girlfriend does the 26 mile run every year. I would LOVE to do that, but I know I wouldn't be ready so I'm considering the half.
  • Are you talking about the Detroit-Windsor marathon?
  • It might be because you are getting more fiber. Try some carbinated beverage or beeno.

  • Very odd because I was discussing this with my ob/gyn and she told me that it is okay to "short term" reduce calories to boost your weight loss. 850 is the same amount she told me and mentioned that when she has an obese patient that wants to get started with weight loss she puts them on proteins shakes and the 850 for a…
  • I stick to the 1200 a day. I use my exercise as an incentive. I don't enter my exercise until the evening because if I don't exercise then I don't get my treat (chocolate, ice cream, etc.) at the end of the day. If I go over one day or I'm under, then I try and use those calories the next day to eat something I usually…
  • My new favorite snack. They are sooooo good!
  • I'm in MI too. I can't wait until the weather gets warmer so I can exercise outside. Good Luck!
  • Try freezing a few pieces of chocolate and then when you get a craving you can have a piece and it last longer. I like tootsie rolls and peppermint patties because they are low in fat.
  • Order your meal without the rice or ask for a box and scoop half your meal in it before you start to eat. Then you won't feel the need to eat it all.
  • Keep your lunch at your desk and don't go in the lounge. Try to get other people in your office to make the weight loss commitment. I'm sure you are not the only one who is struggling with all the treats.
  • I use my running shoes for step because it seems to absorb the impact better. I think it is a preference, but try a cross-trainer. I like Asics.
  • Maybe under aerobics. There is a lot of different types, high impact, low impact, etc.
  • Diabetics don't have a specific diet they follow. They have to count carbs because they turn into sugar. My friend and her daughter are both type 1 insulin dependent diabetics. They do not limit any food or eliminate any foods from their diet. I hope this helps.
  • I just read an article that Wii fit doesn't provide a "workout", but something is better than nothing. It also said that the Wii Active is more of a "fitness" program and could provide better results for weight loss. There is also a fitness game by Jillian Michaels that is good.

  • Hi New Mom. I just joined this week also. So far so good. I also live in Michigan by Lake St. Clair. I understand losing the baby weight, mine came off very easy with both my kids, but eventually it came back because of me. Good luck!
  • You are not overreacting. I am a freak when it comes to pesticides or now radation. My husband gave me crap about buying organic baby food for my kids. I still buy organic because I don't think it is necessary to use all the chemicals. I often wonder if the chemicals in our food is related to all the ADHD and Autism…
  • After I had my second daughter my training said don't worry about weight, worry about inches. Muscle weighs more than fat, so as you tone you may end up weighing more. From that I only weigh myself once a month at the same time. Usually in the morning before I get in the shower.
  • My girlfriend told me about this site and I LOVE IT! I would like to lose 20lbs, but I thought I would start at 10 and go from there. I didn't want to set my goal to high and then be disappointed. I have two girls and I don't want them to grow up with the same bad habits I did, junk food, no exercise, and fried foods. The…
