  • I used to weigh every day and had to quit because the fluctuations were driving me insane!! I weigh once a week now, on Fridays, first thing in the morning.
  • I actually read a scientific journal article that said that if you eat a ton of calories when you first start to feel sick it can actually make you feel better faster.
  • Ugh... after the controversy and arguments I hate to bring it up.. but are you eating enough? I assume you are not eating your exercise calories? Everyone's different, but personally I see a stall in weight loss when I am consistently eating a net (calories eaten - calories burned) of less than 1000 calories per day. Oh…
  • I got mine out last year around this time and I had a pretty rough go of it. I had mostly soup and frozen yogurt. I had trouble getting enough calories during that time.
  • I joined about a month ago and my boyfriend joined about a week ago! And his sister joined a few days ago! I have lost 9 lbs and my boyfriend has already lost 1 lb! Feel free to add us (jessicahelene and stevencothren)!
  • I agree that her stuff is pretty hard on the joints. There are other cardio exercises you can do that will be easier on your knees, etc and still give you good burn. I do kickboxing DVDs - Amy Bento's Rumble, In the Ring Cardio Kickboxing, Kickbox Xtreme, umm .. and one other one. Anything of hers is awesome. She does do…
  • When I was in the middle of losing weight the first time (I had lost about 40 lbs by this point), I had a month where I spotted (brown discharge) for the entire month. I got really scared and talked to by OB/GYN but they told me that when you change your diet and/or exercise habits on the pill it can cause spotting, etc.…
  • I've read that iron deficiency can cause or worsen RLS. How are your iron intake levels each day?
  • OK - I have to admit that this looks like the silliest thing in the world to me. But my boyfriend's sister said that she used it as directed and was very sore in her arms and even abs (?) from using it. I don't think she used it regularly enough to see major results.
  • Well... I'm confused by your post. Do you want to drink? If you want to, just go for it. Don't overdo it, but have a good time and try not to eat a bazillion food when you have the drunchies. People will disagree I think but this is a lifestyle change so if you want the occasional drinking night with your buddies at the…
  • Agreed -- Jillian has some diet-pill-esque products on her website too. I think it's pretty lame.
  • I have a Polar F6 but I just bought my boyfriend a Polar FT4. Check out the differences between the FT4 and FT7 - they are minimal and the FT4 is a little cheaper. Both have user change-able batteries, chest straps, and the same features. :)
  • 100g. The nutrition facts are for the dried pasta.
  • The sodium is high on Laughing Cow wedges, but I do have them sometimes. I mix 2 laughing cow wedges with sauteed diced peppers and onions and mushroom stems and stuff 8-10 mushroom caps for a nice light appetizer. I've also replaced cream cheese with laughing cow light swiss in a cheese ball. And for hot sauce, Tabasco…
  • I haven't given up anything. I'm so neurotic that just the mere act of saying "I am never going to eat/drink this again" would make me want it 10x more. I just keep it to a reasonable (small) serving and only have it on rare occasions and ALWAYS LOG IT.
  • Unless it says "cooked", weigh it before.
  • Hahah, yikes. That one definitely!!! As well as most of the other goals as well. I'm looking to lose about 40 more pounds and gain strength and muscle. I'll definitely add you!
  • I don't agree with this, necessarily. It depends how you define "working out." I too am a full time student and do research in 2 labs for ~20 hours per week as well. I find it necessary to do SOMETHING each day to stay motivated. So I'll do 3-4 "hard" workouts a week and then the other days I will do a low-impact workout…
  • Homemade Cobb Salad... Romaine, Spinach, Grilled Chicken, Avocado, Bleu Cheese Crumbles, Bacon, Tomatoes, Shelled Edamame, and a little Annie's Lite Honey Mustard Dressing. ETA Homemade Croutons. Duh!
  • I drink a protein shake within 30 minutes of working out if I feel as though I have put strain on my muscles (which is what I usually aim to do!). I would recommend protein immediately after workout, ALWAYS cool down and stretch after workout (if you're using a HRM make sure your heart rate is down BEFORE you stretch and…
  • I'll add you.. Always looking for people to share encouragement with. I'm 9 lbs into my 40-50 lb weight loss goal.
  • I don't really have a good brownie recipe, but I made these Chocolate Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins today that are HEAVENLY. http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/08/chocolate-chocolate-chip-banana-muffins.html
  • Skinny cow ice cream treats are delicious and fairly low calorie. I do get frozen yogurt from TCBY sometimes. Or from the grocery. VITATOP CHOCOLATE MUFFINS with a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt. Oh my god. I have a secret brownie sundae monster living inside me who is totally tricked by that combo.
  • I'm an undergraduate Chemistry and Physics student and a lab technician in a biomedical research facility.
  • Added! and Welcome! Cute baby, BTW.
  • Oh jeez. How I wish I would have posted this question on a website like this four years ago when I was going through it. I was dating a guy who was sweet, and gentle, and loved me. And he proposed to me. And I asked myself, is this what it is supposed to be like? And I didn't have much self-esteem at that time, so I said…
  • I would say listen to your body and do as much as you have time for and feels good to do. Don't overdo it or you'll quit. But don't cut back just because some sources say that less is more. Do whatever feels right.
  • Both. Either. But there are great health benefits to both that you can't get by just doing one. I am a mostly cardio kind of girl but my weight loss initially slows down and then increases rapidly from adding in heavy (well.. you know. heavy for me. not really heavy.) lifting. ETA: I read your profile and it sounds like…
  • ^^ Yes. I feel a little like the pot or the kettle here because I struggle to eat my calories back on big workout days, but I agree 100%.
  • I don't know how you feel about veggies but I make this recipe with brown rice sometimes as a side dish with ANYTHING. Brown Rice with Mushrooms & Peas Brown Rice (4 servings), prepared per instructions (I use chicken or vegetable stock for more flavor) 1 tsp olive oil 1/4 sweet yellow onion, diced 1 1/2 cups of button or…
