I'm a big fan of lentil soup, I must say. Hearty enough to fill you up and totally tasty! I sometimes make it with bacon cut up into it for added flavour if I'm feeling a bit naughty. Mmmmm.

I go through phases when I get like that but two strategies work for me: 1. To think that your body needs rest and overdoing it will lead to injury and possibly less successful workouts. 2. For me, I have a PhD to write and I remind myself that on non-gym days I have extra time to work on this, but for you it might be more…

I had a look at a few days of your diary. Seems that you seem to be under some days and over other days. Try and keep right on target every day and the weight should start to come off.

I've lost 9lbs and although I'm a short little smurf (5 foot) it doesn't show at all apart from maybe a little bit on my face. I know how you feel and how it can be disheartening but all we can do is keep trying and it'll show eventually! :)

When I first seen this question, I thought that it sounded a bit crazy. I guess living in Britain where you're never too far from the coast even if you live smack bang in the middle of it, we're lucky compared to the USA where you can be pretty much landlocked. Living in Britain as well means being close to Europe and most…

I've been there so many times. It can be a total demotivator if you're hoping/expecting a friend to go with you and they don't go and I've seen myself just end up not working out before because of it......that's when I decided to stop waiting on some moral support and just get on with it! Fitness for me is all about the…

I, too, am super picky with veg. I actually read somewhere about people called super-tasters which are basically people who have more taste buds than most (like children are born with more active taste buds and many of them become less effective as they get older). Anyway, this causes these super-tasters to dislike bitter…

This time round I've been quite lucky so far. My mum keeps asking me about my progress and if I've lost weight and is happy for me when I have, so that's good. My friends haven't said much or noticed much but that's OK as it isn't really noticeable yet, anyway. I do expect some negativity when it starts to show because as…

Haha...I was thinking the exact same about all the people saying Scotland. Having been born and raised and still living in Scotland, the novelty is well and truly worn off of it! Haha.

I have the same problem but try to have healthier alternatives in the house for when I really can't control my urge for something sweet eg. fruit or Snack A Jacks (chocolate or caramel).

I know your pain. I'm a PhD student and am self-funding, so work (sometimes two jobs when I can get the work), do the PhD, do loads of volunteering and the worst part is that I don't live near my Uni and it takes me two hours to commute in and commute home, so even going in and out of Uni becomes a challenge. I just try to…

Israel. Been before but would like to go back.

I'm kinda in the same situation. I've still got a lot of friends but have lost touch with some over the past few years and have limited contact with others. Although, to be honest, I anticipated that this might happen as I decided to go back to Uni to do a PhD and as I was self-funding, I've been juggling the PhD, work…

I can't wait to get into a bikini (even if it's just a bikini top with shorts). I'd like to wear a cute pair of Daisy Dukes too. The clothing world will be my oyster! Lol.

Oh honey! I had a similar experience once walking home from a trip to the gym. Again, with a car full of idiotic boys. You're quite right....you're a good person who may well be overweight but you're working to change that. Them? They are scum, pure and simple. Why would any decent human being feel the need to try to…

If I was you, I'd just treat yourself and eat. When I'm ill, I usually just give into temptation a bit until I get better.

Definately the black!

That is truly awesome! Just goes to show that kids really do learn from what they see. So glad for you and your wee kiddies!

I just got a HRM and the burn for my aerobic workout that it calculated was almost the same as what MFP had down for high impact aerobics. But yeah, in general, I take MFP calories burned with a large pinch of salt without using a HRM.

Yeah, defo a trip to the doctors. Especially since you have a pre-existing medical condition, it definately doesn't hurt to get things checked out...you don't want to do any long term damage.
-
Yeah, you're totally right. It is one of the reasons I love this sight is that people on here really celebrate everyone's achievements and encourage people to see achievement in other things such as increased strength, better cardio fitness, better clothes fitting etc. instead of just a focus on the scales. It can be hard…

Thanks for this. I'm kinda worried I'd injure myself or squish myself in the free weights section at the moment! lol.
-
I heard loads of people talking about it on here so I bought it but was kinda disappointed with it. I'm used to doing Body Attack so cardio-wise I really didn't feel it was doing much. I guess the strength part of it was all right but also, thought it was boring. Level 1 was too easy, so went onto Level 2 the second day.…

Definately watch what you eat carefully and you should still be able to lose. If you really want to exercise, I'd recommend asking your doc for other non-pool exercises 'cause you don't want to end up leaving yourself with long-term damage to your back.

1. For me, started again to try to lose weight this time about mid January (probably about January the 13th). 2. I walk alot anyway as I don't drive but also go to Body Attack (a cardio class), Zumba (sometimes....don't find it that intense a work out compared to Attack) and Body Pump (a weights class) and occassionally go…

Agreed. I actually seen a video once about a girl who dolled herself up and went and done stuff like tried to get a free bus ride, a free taxi ride, ask people for some change on the street etc. and she pretty much got whatever she wanted but when she was dressed ordinary then she got turned down and actually got a bit of…

I can relate a little. I've fallen off the radar of a lot of my friends these days since I'm doing a PhD and I'm busy all the time these days and can't always see them. I try to text them and email them and stuff but don't often get replies, but meh, I'm doing the PhD for my future and if they can't handle that, then…

A WW2 Aviator complete with stick on mustache. When was the last time you smelled something that brought back a memory?
