Monday went quite well for me....I had no added sugar or sugary treats all day (which is huge for me as I'm a sugar addict!) although I only did 110 crunches as I did most of them in the morning, intending to do the rest after work and by the time I got in from work it was almost 10pm, so by the time I had dinner and a…

I'd love to be included. :)

You can always eat your exercise calories back....you don't need to up your exercise to do that, but you can if you need a lot more calories. Also, I don't know what you were used to eating before but if you were a big eater before you started MFP it is going to take time for your body to physically and mentally adjust to…

I've always been a bit chubby, even as a kid. My mum is one of those women that believes the way to express love is by feeding her loved ones big portions and often, so I ate far more than I needed as a kid and of course, being a kid, you don't realise. Also, I was the academic sort rather than the sporty sort. I did enjoy…

Try us, you just never know, you might be in luck! :) On another forum I was on I once saw someone buy a laptop for another forum member who was down on their luck, so there is some truly big-hearted people out there. If you never ask, you never know ;)

Thanks all the positive posters who got things back on track for some positivity! Clearly, the people who were being negative were not only dragging down the positive post but also don't understand that a PhD isn't an ordinary degree and getting help with or someone to do translations the few foreign language secions of…

I'm not a mum, so I guess it's easy to give this advice when I've never experienced living with a fussy kid but I was a fussy kid myself and soooo wish my mum had taken the hard line approach with me. I, like most kids, liked junk food, crisps, chips, fish fingers, baked beans, chocolate, processed rubbish and because I…

Tummy control swimwear is awesome if you can find any! I have a tummy control swimsuit that makes me look at least a size smaller. You could also try to get a longer suit....like the one Olympic athletes wear that goes to above the knee? Or wear surf shorts?

I've been there myself where weight goes on again through making bad choices but that's life, hey? And as long as you're jumping straight back on it then all is well and good in the world. :)

*raises an eyebrow* I'm going to assume you meant to come across as funny there and not rude.

Go on Facebook, check my emails or come on here instead of writing my PhD! Lol.

I wouldn't think it would work. I've used Truvia to make cakes and scones and so on before where it works pretty well but I wouldn't imagine that it would melt well.

I don't know if there's many a difference in attiutudes towards online dating in the UK as there is in the USA but I'm from the UK and joined POF 2 years ago. I was only a member for 3 weeks before I closed my account after meeting my lovely boyfriend on there that I'm still with :) And I must say, most of the guys on…

Yeah, I agree with the working out with hubby. Also, could you try walking to and from work? Taking stairs at work instead of lifts etc.? All small things maybe but they add up.

I'm a carer, too, Lauren......I'm also doing a PhD full time and teaching at Uni, too, so life can be mental and I agree with what other people say about finding something you love. Also, before I went back to do my PhD, I was working full time as a carer......I used a few strategies to keep me working: 1. I walked to…

I agree with the consistency thing. Also, I use my Wii Fit because if I had scales in my house I'd never be off them and my weight would end up as an obsession! At least with the Wii, I can't just jump onto it, as I have to plug it in, start it up, go through all the on screen stuff. Plus, it is in the living room so…

*raises hand* I've been there, too. I've been there trying on outfits in front of the mirror, every one of them making me look huge and just not wanting to go but life is too short. You are on this site making changes to your body and your lifestyle and so you might be 298 at this moment but it is only temporary and you…

Chest, Arms and Neck guy is a frequent flyer at my gym! We have a separate weights gym next to where exercise classes are held and waiting for a class is always an education in how NOT to do weights......so many guys going in with tiny, tiny, little sparrow legs and then no neck as their shoulders just kinda morph into…

My dog had to be put down in November as she had cancer :( We do still have our cat, Gizmo, though (she has the same colouring as Gizmo from the Gremlins, hence the name). She's a little tortoiseshell cat and has really lovely soft fur. She is a typical cat, though, and mainly likes to hang around on her own....although…

My gym used to have a cool vending machine that sold sports equipment: tennis balls, shuttlecocks, swimming goggles, swimming caps etc. but alas, no more :( We have the usual rubbish selling vending machines, too. The drinks ones have water and powerade and stuff, too but also fizzy juice. We also have a cafe which sells…

And none of us are trying to be negative towards your post, either....we're just pointing out that it isn't always easy for people to be positive about their bodies.....as you say, you think you need to work on your body when someone at 400 pounds could be saying, "Oh, get a grip, you've got nothing to lose". Everyone's…

I guess everyone is hard on their own bodies. Plus, I guess it depends.....I've seen people who weigh wayyyy more than me and are a similar height but seem to look better as they carry their weight differently (mine is nearly all on my stomach), so I guess some people might feel bad about their bodies because of how they…

Well I seem to have hypermobile joints although haven't actually been to a Doc for an official diagnosis but my sister has and my joints are similarly freaky so I guess that I do. Have had pain in various joints most of my adult life. Currently it's my left shoulder and right hip giving me the most problems but the knees,…

I'm from near Glasgow so you can add me if you want. I'm afraid my diary is never very inspiring, though!! Lol.

I'm a really picky eater which in some ways sucks as I don't like a lot of stuff that I WISH I could love (eg. most salad stuff, especially green leafy veg) but it also means that I don't like a lot of foods that aren't so good for me. I don't eat most red meat. I like beef but only in small amounts and I'll eat bacon but…

I actually didn't......I actually wasn't even going to post my request for French help and only did it as there hadn't been very many replies to the thread. And it isn't 'homework'......I'm not some lazy teenager who doesn't want to do my work. It is actually completely valid for me to go and pay someone to do my French…
-
Well that would be kind if I was a 15 year old learning French in school.....my PhD, however isn't in French...it's in Ancient History and it just so happens that there are bits of secondary literature written in French, German and Italian. Funnily enough, it isn't going to be possible to learn three foreign languages to a…

Well I guess I'll chip in. I've got a tonne of French translation to do for my PhD and if anyone is any good at French and fancies doing a few pages for me, I'd be very grateful. :)

I don't know if your store does this but in the UK most of the supermarkets have 'sell off' sections where they sell off goods that have been damaged or are going out of date. Quite often you can snap up bargains eg. meat that is marked as going out of date the next day, for example, but if you freeze it you'll be able to…

Agreed on the knife crime rates in Britain. The murder rate in the USA is higher than that of the UK so it isn't a case of Britain bans guns and everyone goes out and stabs people instead. As this poster has pointed out, random knife crime is rare and there is currently stricter regulations and actions being taken about…
