  • Woah! Remind me never to complain about the British rail system ever again! Lol.
  • Ahh, I live in Glasgow....knife crime capital of Europe...so I might mug you guys first :p Haha. Thanks for the help guys. Now I just need to convince the fella that a long flight is worth it even thought he's scared of flying! Lol.
  • People say that it can be muscle gain if you're working out more than usual but then I've also heard that that is a fallacy off other people, so who knows? It could be your snacking or it could be water weight but half a pound isn't really a huge amount although I can understand why you're feeling down about it as it FEELS…
  • Totally! We used to do it all the time when I was a Guide. Even nowadays, sometimes I'll toast one over the flame on the gas hob for a wee treat. They are truly awesome!
  • It takes a while to get used to it. A lot of the time we end up just eating things without thinking about what they contain so coming on here is a learning curve where you have to actually start realising how bad some foods can be and some of those foods might even be foods that you think would be relatively healthy. The…
  • I feel your pain. My dad likes his biscuits, chocolates, crisps and snacks so they are almost always in the house. I just have to think when I see him eating it how disgusting all the fat is in them and the damange it does. Also, it does help to have healthy things around, or even things that are semi-healthy but feel like…
  • I don't want to sound negative and I understand how frustrating it can be when you feel like you are trying hard and yet aren't seeing a difference on the scales, but at the same time, it pretty much sounds like you're making excuses not to do it. As someone else said at 120, it doesn't sound like you really need to lose…
  • I've not lost enough weight to see a difference yet but I really, really hope that it doesn't come off my boobs! I don't want to end up looking like I'm smuggling Smarties! lol.
  • PhD student, so my desk is my usual position, too. Lol.
  • I can see both points of view but as someone else has said it is fine for you, as a parent, to say that you want your child to go out in the freezing cold without a coat so that he'll learn a lesson but when you're in charge of someone else's child, then it isn't that straight forward. I do a lot of voluntary youth work…
  • No, you're quite right. They want a lot of money, so they should be willing to be helpful. I must admit, I'm really lucky with my gym. It's council owned but only costs me £19 a month for full use of the swimming pool, the gyms and the fitness classes and I can get one of the fitness guys to write me up a gym programme for…
  • I love this! It's so true!
  • My most important thing is being within a healthy BMI range for my height but also want to get into smaller clothes and feel comfortable in my clothes instead of feeling like a blimp all the time.
  • Like others have said, depends how ill. I've heard that symptoms above the neck, it is OK to exercise but if it goes into the chest, exercise should be avoided. I usually try to exercise when I start to become ill but when it gets more severe and I feel rotten, then I just rest up. As for calories, eat what you can and if…
  • Well by the weight loss that I've gained back I guess I could judge that I seem to have used it to justify my gluttony!
  • Hi guys, I'm Nicola :) I'm currently round about 11 and a half stone and looking to get down to about 8 and a half to be a healthy BMI. I LOVE exercise but unfortunately don't have as much time for it as I'd like as I'm currently a full time student and holding down two part-time jobs. I'm going to be away for a few days…
  • I think it's fine to use food as a reward in moderation. I mean, food is pleasureable and if you really like or fancy ice cream etc. then what's so bad about treating yourself as a one-off when you've reached a goal? As long as it isn't happening all the time, I don't think it's too bad.
  • I'm nowhere near the maintanance stage yet but yeah, I worry that I'll be like that too and will want to stay under 1200 calories every day.
  • Cereal for me. I do enjoy a wee bowl of cereal with skimmed milk. On another note, there's a fast food van I know that sells 'Scooby Snacks' which are huge burgers with 2 burgers, cheese, 3 slices of bacon, square sausage, lorne sausage, a potato scone and sauce on it. Heart attack in a bun! lol.
  • I don't plan any days off on a weekly basis but I also allow myself days off if something crops up. For example, the past couple of weeks, I've been working lots and haven't been out with friends so I've just been sticking to my plan. But this week, I was out with friends the other day and I'm going out with my boyfriend…
  • Definately agree with the two people above, the birth control pill is a saviour! I had terrible periods, too, and used to be unable to leave bed some days because I was in so much pain and was very reluctant to go on the pill because I was worried about weight gain. I tried everything else instead.....evening primrose oil,…
  • Great time to start a challenge of it. I started it today, actually, as it just arrived in the post this morning. I'm going to be away 3 days on a break away in January, though and then a week away training with the army cadets so there's no point me signing up but I'll be rooting you guys on. :)
  • I find I always err on the side of caution with this site when it comes to working out exercise burn eg. if I do an hour of cardio, I'll input it as 45 mins, usually. If I walk for half an hour, I'll input it as 15 or 20 mins and then I try not to eat back all my exercise calories. I'll eat back some of them if I'm hungry…
  • I think the GP would do it....think the practice nurse would do it, actually, rather than the doctor. I'm not sure if some chemists do it, too. Like Lloyds tests for diabetes so they might be able to do cholesterol testing, too. Also, depending on your employer, sometimes workplaces do health visits where nurses etc. come…
  • What about soup? I'm not a big fan of most veggies but in soup I'll eat them and you can liquidise it once it's made so that it doesn't have mushy texture.
  • I was like you for a long time, too and found it hard to keep up the momentum. You need to remember that it is hard, especially at first and having a 'bad day' when you eat a lot isn't a reason to give up completely. Just try again the next day. Also, try to find exercise you enjoy and then it wont feel like a chore. I…
  • Personal question but is your period due/are you on your period? I know that when I'm on my period I crave a lot of chocolate and carbs and I've spoken to a lot of other girls who have the same problem, so it could be that, maybe? Sometimes I think it's good to have a day or two when you go off the rails a little bit,…
  • Hi guys, I was a chubby kid and have stayed a chubby adult and hate my body. I envy all the girls wearing bikinis at the beach and wish I could get away with it but know if I dared people would run away screaming! Don't get me wrong, I know I wont have enough weight off by this summer to get into a bikini, but hopefully…
  • Glaswegian. :( More's the pity.
