If you have a good trainer, s/he's worth every ridiculously expensive dollar. If you get a bad one, not so much, lol. I hate working out - I mean I REALLY hate working out. I have one and I rarely use it, but it would certainly be better than nothing - at least your up and moving around. It's just not very intense. I agree that you might be better served to try some of the free videos on YouTube. Some of the Jillian Michaels ones are on there, in entirety. Maybe try 30 Day Shred?

My trainer is either too smart or too ethical for that - no way he let's me stall like that. And, believe me, I try. :grumble:

My old trainer made me squat ON the bosu, flat-side up - usually in conjunction with a kettlebell or shoulder presses. *kitten*. :grumble:

It never seems to get easier and, if it's not your friends, it'll be some "well-meaning" acquaintance or relative... Just keep making those healthy choices - it's your life and your body. Give them a smile, tell them your body is a temple and eat however you like!

That's so funny - I've had two different personal trainers and, with the exception of occasionally using the TRX or cable systems (and the calf-lift one for my shin splints,) it's always free weights, kettlebells or body weight. I wouldn't know how to use most of the machines if I had to.

Shadowboxing? My dad has issues with his feet - he props himself on a stool and starts throwing jabs and crosses for a few minutes at a time. It definitely gets his heart rate up!
