  • Wow, came across this thread...and the pages attached. It is amazing (and satisfying in a way) to see all the ones that share the same kind of peeves, and a few new ones that I hadn't thought of but in truth bug me too. Perhaps there is hope with all these people here, if we can educate others around us, we can turn the…
  • I can say most definitely I care about where my weight loss comes from. At first my weight loss happened quickly. At my heaviest I was probably over 430 lbs.I made half hearted efforts over the next 5 years, losing, gaining, losing. It wasn't until I was around 380 that I did this in earnest. Over the past 2 years I've…
  • I have a bodymedia fit as well. One of the suggestions I saw was to wear the armband lower on the left arm while biking. I'm at a loss as to what to make of the exercise it logs as well. I can do some HIIT and perhaps I go over 300 calories burned. I have yet to have it record more than 2 min of consecutive vigorous…
  • Keep it going forward. The more of us that speak up and show we do not tolerate bullying and judgement like this, the better it can get. Sometimes it just takes that one brave soul to ignite another. Also that bit of standing up for someone might give them the drive to start standing up for themselves.
  • I attribute my weight loss more to my getting my act together than my T intake. It probably did have an impact. I do notice that a few days after my shot I've got munchies more LOL. I keep carrot chips, salsa, celery around and make sure I drink plenty of water. I try to eat my carbs early, more protein than carbs. I had…
  • I'm a FtM male, on T now for 2 yrs. Done with surgeries. Hello to everyone
  • Have to say I agree here. I would much rather have a lady share with me the way she would like the mood of the evening to be than try to guess or worse, place only my own slant on the evening. Both dresses look amazing, kudos to you and all the hard work you did to get there!! That being said I like #1, I think it would be…
  • Try adding in an extra healthy snack, or perhaps a slightly larger portion of what you and your wife are preparing for a meal. It doesn't have to be much. The fact that you are both doing it together is awesome!
  • March goals: 1. Heal up well from surgery....behave! 2. Stay on track with nutrition. Boredom is an evil nutrition wrecker for me! 3. Walk at least 5 days a week. Seems excessive but it is my only allowable route right now. 4. Get better and menu planning/shopping so I don't waste good produce and have a plan.
  • I've been drinking more green tea at work. I had just gotten started (about 3 weeks of it) when I was scheduled for surgery. Off on FMLA until 4/3 but when I return I am going to continue with the green tea. I gave up pop a long time ago and highly recommend it! Nasty stuff in there!
  • As soon as I'm cleared by surgeon, going to jump in here on this. I'll catch up! You all are doing fantastic!
  • Goal one for me was completed 2/21/13....complete surgery. Next goals are to get back to exercising as soon as I'm able (doc says at least 6 weeks) but in meantime keep eating clean. I definitely want to get under the next milestone and be able to write my weight at 1_ _ something instead of 2_ _. I have no actual number,…
  • I measure out and pack things for myself. I have green tea in my locker now and substitute it for coffee at times. I've cut out creamer for my coffee and use only stevia. For snacky type stuff I measure out some almonds, carrot chips and celery stalks and then take hummus or salsa to nibble on with it. Try measuring out…
  • That's what I've been doing. Using my stability ball and dumbbells at home along with some resistance bands.
  • I think so too. Overall weight loss happens from a 3500 cal deficit a week. I count my 24 hrs basically 6am to the next 6am. So, when I pack my meals for work, that counts on the day I go in, even if I eat after midnight. As long as you have a consistent way of doing it and logging it...who is to say it is wrong or right?…
  • I have really tried to pack my lunch, include "munchie" foods to help me keep going without snacking on bad things. One of my favs is "chip and dip" where I make a mixture of homemade salsa (or the natural store brand without additives) and add either 1/4 cup of greek yogurt or even canned salmon. Then pack also carrot…
  • I've been at this for over a year now and I know it can get to be frustrating. I read an article recently about an aspect of changing my eating habits (refuse to think of this as a diet since I'm sticking to this as a lifestyle change). It gave me a perspective I didn't have before and helped.…
  • I found three sites that helped me make some adjustments http://nutritiondiva.quickanddirtytips.com/nutrition-tips-for-night-shift-workers.aspx http://www.eatrightontario.ca/en/Articles/Workplace-wellness/Nutrition-Tips-for-Shift-Workers http://www.askfitnesscoach.com/working-the-night-shift-exercise-might-help-you-adjust/
  • Who says you have to shoot for 170 and not 220? How about shoot for say 215. When you get there, reevaluate and make another goal. Small, attainable goals, bit at a time. Don't try to bite off and chew the whole thing at once (sorry for the eating analogy) but nibble at it bit by bit. Don't settle and don't quit. The…
  • Personally I think the <insert latest gimmick for weight loss> fad just needs to be put aside and stick to the basics. There are NO gimmicks or quick fixes for healthier living and weight loss. It's all about being aware of what you put in your body, what your body needs and adjusting that. Stick with REAL food and REAL…
  • Welcome to the mayhem!!
  • I am going to use the non fat dry milk in with the instant hot chocolate mix. Creamer adds an extra creaminess to the mix I think (I used to add it to my own packet kind until I read the ingredients). Thanks for the feedback!
  • No idea how to put a picture in a post. All the pictures are amazing though! Great job!!
  • Personally, as long as you are happy with who you are, don't really mind what you identify as. We all are sharing the same journey in trying to be healthier humans. Good to see the diversity out there! I had my hysto/oopherectomy on Aug 1 and I'm feeling great. FINALLY got t start exercising again! My old doc that was…
  • Hi there, I'm a night shift nurse (1900-0730) and work on a cardiac/clinical decision unit. Good to see other nurses out there. I have often tried to contact some of the "experts" with help regarding diet, activity, etc giving out unique lifestyle. Most plans are designed for the 9-5'rs who sleep nights and don't work…
  • I'm not always the most active in posting but I try to keep up and participate. Been a long haul and still got work to go, slow but sure making it. Good luck! Sent you a friend request.
  • Count me in too. Take one step at a time. Small change, stick to it..own it and add another. Before you know it your whole outlook and habits have changed! Good luck and welcome to the journey!
  • Gil Gerard is going to be at Dragon*Con next week along with Erin Grey (a crush of mine from Buck Rogers...met her last year :o) ). If I get any pics of him, I'll post it here. I'm a staffer with Dragon*con so don't know how many panels I'll get to see. I'm definitely going to look for Erin again so they might be doing a…
  • Wow, great job!! I think that is very cool they have a program like that. I have guesstimates from self measuring, but nothing that detailed. What a great motivator and what a great way to show all that hard work is really paying off!!!
