  • If anyone wants to add me feel free. I've walked in your shoes. I started out at over 400 lbs. I was 393 when I started on mfp.

  • Haven't been around on the boards that much. Life keeps me crazy busy. Hope you all had a good weekend.
  • Good luck to one and all! Never quit!
  • I take in about 100 to 120 grams of protein a day. I weight lift 4 days a week. Protein is 4 calories a gram. Protein also digests slower than carbs. First thing you need to do is take a look at your overall diet. You can't out exercise a bad diet. Make sure you're getting enough of each of your macros (fat, carbs,…
  • Thanks. I have become well versed on what I need to do to lose. This maintaining is new territory.

  • Personally while I don't agree with the food choice, I do think having that camaraderie attitude to encourage someone to come back and belonging is a great thing. I would much rather see someone munch on pizza and be active then do it in secret while planting themselves on the couch or in their car or wherever. Good health…
  • Never quit. I've gained/lost so many times. Never give up on yourself.
  • I've just started. I ran my first ever 5k 2 weekends ago, then did another one this past weekend. I think I'm hooked. I'm still learning how to turn. For someone who never ran and my obesity kept me from running without killing my knees this is a big deal. Any hints/tips/advice greatly appreciated. I set my personal goal…
  • I get the absolute WEIRDEST songs stuck in my head. Like the song from Hee Haw (where where are you tonight...why did you leave me here all alone...) and that song from Sound of Music (16 going on 17) when I haven't seen the movie or play in YEARS! I cracked up one of my patients when she asked what I was humming and sang…
  • Great job! I know I'm going to have to have excess skin removed (would like to ask about how that went if you care to reply privately). I started out at over 400, I'm at 191 now. Would like to get to 170s.
  • I've read that it is difficult to absorb more than 30 g of protein at once. You end up wasting what is left over. Has anyone else heard of this or have feedback on that?
  • alot of great tips here. I bought some gnc nonflavored protein and drop it into just about anything (soups, pudding, eggs, oatmeal, shakes) for protein boost.
  • I've had a FB for a few years now (now have a charge hr). It might take a few days to get it synced up. Try unjoining them and then rejoining them. Also check your FB settings to see how often it syncs. Hope it works out!

  • I've been here a few years now and logging has become a habit. Feel free to add me if you want as well. I love getting the feed back, ideas and hearing of successes as well as encouraging (and being encouraged) when struggling.
  • Are you talking about those noodles that come in a bag, moist? I've seen spaghetti type and fettucine. They are like 30 calories for the whole bag. shirataki or something it is called.
  • The only "detox" I have found that works is intermittent fasting. A day where you drink water, relax, meditate, go for a leisurely sight seeing type walk with music. I found that doing that not only seemed to make my body feel better but my mind as well and helped me recharge for the next go around.
  • I've definitely bookmarked this thread. As I have lost weight I have seen my activity also shoot up somewhat and also the intensity I can handle. I'm going to start some crossfit (which I NEVER thought I could do) and have actually added some running (another omg am I really trying this). One of the other nurses I work…
  • I'm thinking on this too. I have never in my life been at a point where I wasn't trying to lose weight. I'm within 15-20 lbs of my goal weight range (170-175) after weighing over 400 at some point. I did not think it attainable so it really never crossed my mind until I got below 200 lbs and into "one-derland". The one…
  • My best advice is not to look at the whole thing in one big bite. Try one thing you can do to be healthier or fitter. Whether it be doing some kind of activity, stop smoking, cut back on some kind of sugar heavy food, reading labels, measuring your food. ONE thing. Don't worry about everything else. Try one thing at a…
  • Wow, I faded out there again for a bit. Glad you're logging and exercising again!
  • Have you tried jazzing up the walk? Find some exotic place to learn about and "walk" it. I did a few challenges that mimicked the trail the hobbits walked and it was a riot. Also for healthy foods I used to do carrot chips instead of corn chips and salsa..even toss in some greek yogurt. My go to snack is usually jerky or…
  • I had gastric sleeve done in April 2016. I started my journey seriously in 2011 when I was over 400. I got down to 230ish and then it started creeping back up. I just couldn't get my rhythm, momentum, motivation. It was so frustrating. I had gone to the seminar about it and decided to commit to the preparation. I knew even…
  • You all are awesome!! Keep it up! I started at 393 (was more but the scale wouldn't weigh me til I got there). Name: Kasey Height: 5'4" Highest Weight: 393 Starting Weight: 213.8 August Goal Weight: 200 Ultimate Goal Weight: 170 8/2/15: 213.2 8/9/16: 207.8 8/16/16:208.6 8/23/16: 8/30/16 Loss/gain for the week:+0.7…
  • I've lost 190 lbs so far. I'm 50 years old so I got the saggy skin in some places. I've been taking biotin and doing weight lifting to help fill that space with other stuff. After my first 100 or so lbs I did have some surgery to remove pockets of loose skin around my chest that was really uncomfortable. Most of my other…
  • I love roasted edamame peas. I get them at the store but would like to learn to roast my own. 1/4 cup (which is an ounce) is 140 cal, 7 g fat, 13 g Protein. I also like the jerky I saw someone mention. I look for ones that are at least 10 g/oz. I also have been buying portable meat snacks that have like 3 oz of chicken in…
  • I just had surgery April 6 so my whole abdomen is still pretty sore.
  • I'm still a work in progress. I refuse to quit though. I have slip ups, set backs. One thing I have learned and has been reinforced so many times there is no "quick" way. Small wins and small progress is still wins and progress. I dust off and keep going. I have to. LOL I got rid of clothes as soon as I grew out of them…
  • When I was at 400 and starting, I used the pool. Couldn't handle much else. Started out just walking, then jogging in the pool. I did that until running an hour in the pool was just too easy and started taking it to the other part of the gym. You can do other stuff in the pool too. Water "weights" that are styrofoam that…
  • I started keeping track around 395. I'm at 242 after back sliding some (got down to 227). Is it ok if I join up and jump in?
