  • Hahaha! I know!!! It's totally crazy for the month of December but the scale may love us come Jan 1!! :)
  • Nice idea! Sunday- 4/5 miles plus leg weights Monday- easy 3 miles Tuesday- 60 minute spin class Wednesday- rest and carb up Thursday- running my first half marathon (running for pie)! Friday-depending on how I feel....60 minutes cross or run easy 3 Saturday- run 5
  • Runner here! About to run my first half marathon on Thanksgiving and will start marathon training the week of Christmas. Feel free to add me! I love talking to other runners!
  • I use a fuel belt and found mine at TJMaxx for $10!! I didn't think I would be all about something being around my waist the whole time I run but you really get used to it. If you have one near you....it's worth a shot for the cheap price!
  • Awesome advice guys. I also start training for my first marathon the week of Christmas! My first marathon will be the Country Music mararhon in Nashville on 4/28. What training plan are you using?
  • Woo hoo!! You can do it! Are you using any sort of training plan? It helps to keep you accountable! Hal Higdon has some great plans for different levels.

  • Woo hoo!!! So glad you are starting your marathon training tomorrow! You can totally do it! You are so dedicated and never say never! We will be here to cheer you on along the way. We are starting our training at the end of December so we can talk about how much we "love" our runs 14+ miles and above! :)
  • Glad to find other girls on here that are 5'6! I live an active lifestyle and my calories are are set to 1670 to lose .5 pounds a week. I am currently at 150.6 and my original goal was to get to 150 to lose 100 pounds total. I have changed my goal to 145 and would like to stay in between 145-150. I am glad I am not the…
  • 5 miles outside doing 10x400 intervals. I was skipping over my speed training at the beginning of my training program due to an injury and I noticed that my speed and endurance kinda sizzled out! Started adding it back in the last 3 weeks and have felt great besides getting a horrid side stitch today. I wish I knew what…
  • 6 days may be a little aggressive to start out with! How many miles/minutes are you doing a day? I'm on Hal Higdon's training plan right now and it has me running 5 days and I sometimes scale it back to 4 and use one as a cross training day. Definitely listen to your body and remember that these training programs are just…
  • New York! Women's Nike in SF Chicago Boston would be amazing but don't think I have the dedication to get that fast tri starting with a sprint and possibly making it to an ironman Big Sur Disney
  • I second the HH training program. I have used it for a 15k and a half marathon that I will be in 11 days. He offers different levels and you find the plan that works best for you!
  • 11/24 first half marathon on turkey day (working for my pie!) 12/17 christmas 5k 1/1 resolution 10k? 2/4 double bridge 15k 3/18 publix half marathon 3/24 Atlanta women's 5k 4/28 country music full marathon!! 5/20 warrior dash mud run 7/4 Atlanta Peachtree roadrace 10k Can't wait!!!
  • I'm in!!! I have my first half marathon this month so I'm hoping that will help pack on the miles! I'm at 44.1 so far! 23 cross training, the rest running!
  • I am planning on running my marathon on 4/28/12 with a friend! It is the country music marathon in Nashville, TN. My first half will be on Thanksgiving day this year. I feel ready for it but a full marathon is a little scary! Would love to help support and motivate! :)
  • You are a ROCKSTAR!!! So proud of you!! We will be fit and fabulous in our 30's! :)
  • I weigh myself everyday and take off all my clothes and make sure I pee before! I used to weigh once a week a few months back and then I had a couple of surprises where I gained weight. I feel like weighing everyday (even though it fluctuates) helps to keep me in check!
  • I work out first thing in the morning. This works best with my work schedule. I usually eat a very light breakfast and then run or do weights and then have a protein shake immediately following the workout. I also feel like I continue to burn calories through the whole day because my metabolism is raised.
  • Just take it slower. If your goal is to run a 5k, work on distance and not speed. Who cares if you run an 11-12 minute miles if you still finish the race! :)
  • I don't think I could do the start/stop method because I feel so sluggish when I start running again. A friend and I are planning on running a half marathon without any sort of stopping (half in November) but we are thinking about stopping during the water stations for the full marathon. I am nervous about it because I…
  • Just found this group and would love to join! I am doing my first half with a friend on Thanksgiving this year. I am currently using the Hal Higdon's training plan for a 15k at the end of this month and then will be jumping on the half training program after that race. I love to talk to other runners and would love the…
  • I am also training for my first Half Marathon (with bjbikler) and am super excited! It's a little scary thinking about all the miles we will be running in the next few months but would love to help keep you accounatable. I have used the Hal Higdon's plan for my 15k coming up in September and it's great. I would suggest…
  • Awesome job!!! I second the c2k5 post. I did the program last year and literally started from nothing (like couldn't even run 5 minutes) and now have a love for running and am training for a half marathon in the fall. One thing the program preaches is don't worry about your time right now, just the distance. Who cares if…
  • I live in Marietta and work in the Smyrna/Austell area. I love Atlanta but am ready for the fall. Running sucks at 6 am! :(
