  • Desk job in Marketing, set to sedentary. I walk 2-3 miles in my daily commute and around the office, but I just log actual exercise.
  • Dinner a Love Story has a lot of really good ideas about creating "deconstructed meals" aka something that can be broken into several components and the picky eaters can then eat around what they don't like and you can eat the healthier options. I have liked all of the recipes I have made from her blog and cookbook!…
  • I'm 26, looking to tone up and maybe lose a few more lbs but my fitness goals are more important to me. Training for two half marathons this spring + incorporating some strength training. I eat a lot of unprocessed foods, but also love to go out to eat and have drinks or desserts sometimes, so if you want a balanced and…
  • I have had good luck with the Nike ones. Or wearing a ballcap! :) Once you are running longer distances you will want a water bottle. I have a small handheld one that I love. It also has a small pocket that I can hold my keys, etc. in - personally I don't like the belts/having something around my waist. I also use…
  • New Nike running tights, socks and a heartrate monitor/watch!
  • This is my first Christmas not going to my parents/grandparents. Made nice dinner reservations for Christmas Eve ;) Christmas Day I am making cheddar/bacon/chive scones for breakfast, getting some cheese/meat to nibble on through the day and making duck breast, creamed spinach and risotto for dinner. Chocolate chip nutella…
  • I go in long stretches of eating the same thing then switch it up. Most breakfasts I make ahead and take into work to eat. I like to have protein in the morning. Over the past year I have done: Steel cut oatmeal with nut butter and/or fruit Paleo pancakes (2 eggs + 1 banana mashed together, usually add fruit or nut butter…
  • No, I buy clothes that fit. I do sometimes try on things from a few years back to make sure they fit correctly. I have seen too many people with a closet full of clothes they can't wear, and I am very much not a "stuff" person, so that doesn't work for me.
  • For context, I am 5'5" and 26 years old. After I graduated college in 2009 I slowly (but steadily) started packing on some lbs. Probably hit 155. I decided I needed to get active. In 2010 I went from not being able to run a mile without stopping to completing a (slow) half marathon. Also lost about 10 pounds. My weight has…
  • I drink and eat out every week and have managed to lose weight and definitely tone up! One night won't hurt you - on days I know I will be over indulging I try to get in a good burn workout if that will make you feel better!
  • I love to travel, so when I went on a date with a guy who told me he didn't think he would be comfortable leaving the country (U.S.) and didn't see the point in it, I knew that was a dealbreaker!
  • Mine is open - I like to cook and usually eat fairly healthy, but I enjoy pizza, dessert and alcohol too, so no adds unless you also like to indulge ;)
  • If I need something before a morning workout I like to have a banana or granola bar (Larabars are my favorite as they only have a few ingredients such as dried fruit and nuts). Maybe you can find a friend who also wants to workout in the morning and you can text each other for accountability? I got into the habit of…
  • I am doing the Rock N Roll half in DC in March! I did it last year as well. I followed a Hal Higdon training plan last year and this year am doing a group training program (I did it for the fall Army 10 Miler and liked it). For me, I like to make sure I am running at least 3 times/ week during training: 1 easy run, 1 long…
  • I'm in for this one! hahaha
  • I love Larabars for a quick snack, they only have whole ingredients. Most bars only have 3 or so ingredients such as nuts and fruit. Also a perfect pre-run snack for me!
  • I just got $50 in Amazon from work and got some tall compression socks. Get something you will use!
  • hahaha! Hmmm that would put me at 10% coffee/ 20% eggs/ 40% fruits/veggies/ 15% meat/ 15% booze ;)
  • My Nike tights have a zipper at the ankle and a zip pocket at the waist to hold a key! I am eyeing some thicker North Face ones for this winter though (I run enough I'd like to have more than one pair!)
  • I eat at my office so usually grab something from my fridge as I rush out the door in the mornings - Hard boiled eggs, apples with nut butter, "pancakes" made ahead (I do two eggs to one banana and add cinnamon and/or nut butter) and Larabars are my standbys!
  • ^ Second that! I like them as "shells" for taco filling, stuffed with shredded chicken or pork, or with "buffalo chicken" - I have even used romaine hearts as "chips" for guacamole because they have such a sturdy crunch!
  • The book Salt, Sugar, Fat is a very interesting look at processed foods and the processed food industry and how salt, sugar and fat are adjusted in foods to get certain tastes.
  • I run and like the 30 DS videos! Am around 140 and looking to maybe lose another 5 or keep maintaining :)
  • I ran through the winter last year. Shorten steps and slow down (you WILL be slower on ice/snow). I know there are cleat type running shoes you can buy as well. Good luck!
  • I try to eat bars that have real ingredients versus added sugars, etc. I really like the Lara bars, and most only have 3-5 ingredients such as dried fruit and nuts.
  • I am shooting for a sub 2 hour half! Doing two in the spring, so I have a couple of chances. Andddddd I have been researching marathons a bit... as someone who never thought she would run a race, much less a half marathon, I am still not sure about tackling that, but am thinking about it for the first time ever!

  • I often do "taco chicken" - just chicken thighs and/or breasts, a can of tomatos, a can of chiles, some chili powder or other spices and whatever veggies and or beans sound good. Let it cook on low for 8+ hours, shred with two forks and eat in tacos, with rice, with veggies or by itself!
  • I signed up for my first half marathon when I could only run about two miles at a time, so you can definitely do it. But if you don't think you will train and show up for the race I wouldn't sign up - but I definitely think you could handle it!
  • I'm 26, have a few more lbs to lose but am mostly focused on some fitness goals (getting stronger and running faster). Like to go out to eat and drink sometimes and like balanced and fun friends on here! :) Hi, all!
